Flash your P900 Firmware Now!!!

This is great! I just upgraded from Organiser R1B01 to R2B02, did a format (to remove preinstalled cr@p) and restored my latest backup. Everything went smoothly! 😊

Haven't noticed any differences between the firmware versions though...

I can't be bothered to back everything up and do it yet, but it seems my CDA version is newer anyway?!?

Not sure if Orange will let you upgrade using this service yet because of all the operator specific stuff, but i'll check it out tommmorow.

orange' latest is r1c01 at the mo, what happens if you install the latest firmware over the orange one... ?

Don't know, but I think it will loose the orange branding..that's why I don't think it will let you do it.

But I didn't end up going out tonight so i'm going to give it a try now.

just updated mine and it was simple and easy, as long as u follow the online step exactly 😃

i have noticed a huge difference as i had R1A01 (i think 🙄 ). this one seems to be faster loading and better clock too...

would also like to hear what other have to say after they have upgraded theirs.

Orange users are having issues upgrading as Orange has not approved this update yet and they may not..Thus after one attempts to update it will notify you that you already have the latest update.. As I know to-date, there are no Orange users that have been successful at upgrading.. The updater goes through a few checks before it update.. It still gives one the option of upgrading even after the "you have the latest upgrade" notification.. However, going through the painstaking process will still leave one with what they started with... And it will NOT remove that dumb Orange screen tag..

My guess is that they (Orange) might require users to go through them instead.. It makes total sense as I believe users are at risk of voiding their warranty if they fiddle around with the phone through some medium other then Orange. They technically would have to pay to fix your screw up..So if you have a contract phone you might be SOL.... Everything is at your own risk..

For everyone else.. The firmware update is all good... Hence my point on purchasing contract modified phones.. You will run into hassles like this. There are technical and economical reasons why it works out that way. Your carrier will always find a way to keep their arms around the throat of your phone.

I couldn't get it to run through my SOCKS5 port so I didn't bother anyway, seems I have an upto date version in any case. 😊

I ran update on my orange p900 every think was ok i had a bluetooth problem that fixd aswell but orange start up mp4 is still there🙄

What does the firmware version actually say???

As I know several Orange members have run the update and the update does notify them that it was successful.. However, after verification the system info still reports the older firmware.. My guess is that you will not find R3C on your Orange phone.. Just a guess..

I havent updated mine yet though co im still at home and I have the DeskSpeaker Stand CSS-20 with the USB sync connector DSC-11 which wont work. I have to wait till I get to the office and use the original cradle.

Correct me if im wrond, but would these steps be correct:
1.) Backup using backup and restore
2.) Update online
3.) Format phone to get rid of preinstalled aps (like raven did)
4.) Restore backup?

Question, would no. 3 still be important? Wouldnt restoring your old backup just delete those unecessary aps?

Yes, most likely, but I always do a format before I restore a backup... -Just to be on the safe side I guess... 😃

From what you posted your phone obviously hasn't been updated.. The phone firmware hasn't been updated.. I think the problem has to do with your CDA... I think the auto-updater does a check on it and if its not finding what its looking for it will not update the phone firmware.. Contract phones may not be able to go through this process at all...

I just updated my P900 this morning. The whole process took me about 45 minutes. This includes backing up, downloading the update, updating the phone and restoring it up. All in all a pleasant experience. Things I noticed improved are loading times and better texting support like automatically capitalizing the first letter at the end of a sentence. I will post more observations as I go along trying it. Anyway a word of warning. Make sure your phone has enough juice before you do this as it seems to make a considerable drain on your battery. Also make sure you have a very reliable internet connection since I would hate to imagine what would happen if your connection suddenly falters in the middle of the process. Anyway nice job Se! Keep up the good work 😊

Darnit! I dont have SP1 yet on my laptop coz I just reformatted it. So now I have to wait for the windows update to update my windows with SP1 and I know this is going to take forever to do 😞 Is it possible to just download SP1 and update your Laptop Manually?

Ok, im updating my phone right now.. but this is all I get on the website, should my phone be turned off? Am I missing something here?

Oh you did install the update software didn't you?

Where do you get the update software? I havent installed any update software yet because after the checklist page (make sure your battery is full, make sure you are using the right cradle..etc..) I get this page 😞

Prior to that window I have this, then I just put a check mark and ive waited for more the 20 minutes alread still stuck on that page 😞

Now thats strange. Those were the same steps i went through this morning Muzikfreakah and they worked fine with me. Could it be that alot of people are doing their upgrades now and the network is busy? Try doing it again man

It appears that the Vodafone UK phones already come with the latest version on them.

Guess we'll have to wait a little while to test out the online updates....
