Tested MMC cards

I have a QD, and I use a Sandisk 128 RS-MMC. Now I bought a Kingston 1gb MMC+, which is quite fucked up. It sometimes just without warning whines that I removed the mmc without doing the take out mmc-procedure, is that one of them ngage-"features" again, or is my card just creepy?

It also has Extra connectors on it, that don't fit the original MMC specs, they apparently comply to mmc v.4.0 specs. Anyways, at first my phone thought that it was corrupted, so I taped over the extra connectors, and hey presto, it worked.

Then as time went by, the tape came off, and the card works now without the tape. WTF?

i dunno this problem already posted or not. Why i can't c/use my friend's mmc (9210) to my n-gage? Wrong format, symbian ver?. What about using card reader? If yes, how to use it without card reader? There is some data that i want to transfer to my n-gage but i dunno how to do it.

Pls hlp!

I found this MMC compatability list for the N-Gage in another forum on a different website. I can't remember who posted it, but all credit goes to him/her.

[N-gage compatible MMC list]

Bytestor (128mb)
Viking (128mb)
Pretec (128mb)
Generic  Smith Electronics (128mb)
Dane-Elec (128 mb)
Lexar
Corsair
Visipro
SimpleTech
PQI
Integral
Kingston
Muse
Eagletec
Sandisk
Topram
Transcend
Hitachi (64mb)
Twinmos (64mb & 256mb)
Extrememory (128mb & 256mb)
Kingmax (128 & 512mb)
Microsim (256mb)
Twinmos (256mb)
NCP (128mb,256mb)
Infineon (256mb)

Note:
1. Most of the Compatible ones have been tested with the N-Gage which does not exclude the possibility of it working on the 3600/3620/3650/3660/6600.
2. Ngage can handle MMC Cards up to 2 GB this is its MAX!, just remember using bigger MB MMC WILL SLOW DOWN YHE PERFORMANCE WHICH ALSO WILL DRAIN YOUR BATTERY FASTER, i recommend using 128/256/512 MB instead.

128MB Transcend from local shop in cambodia 14USD.

TwinMOS 128mb, PRETEC 32mb, Nokia 32mb and Apacer 128mb

They work perfect. The TwinMOS works from the begining, Pretec need to be formated, Nokia formated because it was a snowboarding game and Apacer 128mb works dunno if it need formats.

If i get other cards I'll post.

Hi,

I'm new here.
Since a couple of days the proud owner of an N-gage QD.
I want a memory card for it, and looking for an trancend 2gb card.
is that working on the N-gage QD ?

Many thanks.

I have a 256 Mb MMC Card and it works very good on N-Gage QD! I want to know if a 1Gb MMC it works on N-Gage QD ?!

i have 512mb SanDisk Rs MMS works perfect. Fast file transfer, fast read and no problem anything.

Another Kingmax 512 that works. The old one broke. Thankfully, Kingmax has a 5 year warranty and they replaced it no questions asked.

Can i use rs dv mmc for my ngage QD?
I heard it uses less voltage.... will it be compatible with my QD?

Corrupted MMC fix

Necessary tools:
- Corrupted MMC
- 7tools partition manager (get it here: http://geocities.com/rulirahm/symbian/7tools.zip , the demo version is capable of carrying out this task)
- Pair of hands
- little brain but not necessary

lets do it PC guru

Article Part one
========================================

Arrow Put your MMC into your card reader, select the MMC

Arrow If your partition is corrupted you will see several invalid partions in red in the left hand pane (MMC drive section)

Arrow Right click each of these and left click delete.

Arrow Click apply (top left button)

Arrow You should be left with a single free unit on your MMC drive. Now right click that unit and select create primary partition. Go with the defaults which should be FAT16 and click on apply.

========================================

Exit and put your card back into your N-Gage. If you find that the MMC card still does not mount via the USB cable (That is if it was mounting prior to corruption). Unplug the cable and put your MMC card back into your card reader.

Article Part two
========================================

Arrow Start the 7tools and select the MMC again.

Arrow In the right hand pain you will see a column that says Active (it will probably be set to "no"😉 click this and set it to yes (That take a few MB of your MMC but it makes it an active bootable drive partition), click apply

Arrow Put the MMC back into your N-Gage and format it via tools-memory-[options]-format mem card.

You will notice that the card is a couple of MB down on it original size but it will now be fully bootable and functional via the USB cable again.

========================================

Keep in mind:
If u formatting MMC card trough windows u could fuck it up if you format in any other partition than FAT, no other partitions like NTFS, FAT32, dont work!

Thats it, astalavista bay

Hope this help

Cheers Cheers
