i have a problem....when i try to backup my phone memory...a message comes saying ' App. closed: AppArcServerThread ' or somehting like that...pls help me out here...when i format my mmc from the phone...n then try to backup...no problem occurs...but when i install an app, it does not create a backup...whts the prob here guys???
one more problem....when i start fexplorer...it shows two rom drives...it shows <ROM> tag for one of them ...but for the other rom drive, it shows '<???>....is there any problem...
when i asked gosymbian....they say that some internal or external app ahs dislocated that drive...anybody helpin??

now I shall go and ask somebody else why in the name of f*ck my phone will not restore my contacts information from any of my backups, and I have also lost all the groups etc. - unless of course somebody here knows the answer :frown:
you cant flash the phone yourself unless you have the hardware to do it.
the hardware costs around 300$, much more then the ngage is worth.
your best bet is to find someone in your area that has the tools to flash the phone.
try craigslist or something and search around in your area.
I have these tools and i live in the puget sound area in washington state.
anyone from there can come to me and ill fix it.

hi i seem to be yet another victim of this common problem, i have only recently come into contact with the n-gage but i have yet to figure out how to flash the phone my the time i have forked out for a flasher kit i might as well take to a store to get flashed, i want to flash it myself! i have had 2 error msgs when i try and access the menu (1. error occured) (2. device start-up failed contact the retailer)
i really want to get this phone working again but i am at an end
if anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful for the input

Take it to the service centre... I had this problem a month ago, and a few days ago... Firstly, I had to pay less then 10 euros for flashing it, and now I took it for flashing again... P.S. today, my friend's n-gage also crashed... This seems to be a BIG bug in n-gage...
Maybe it crashed because I had more than 300 msgs on my mmc (using MsvDriveE), but it couldn't start when I tried to install some fonts...
My advice: take it to service centre, and don't install fonts 😎

You can't flash n-gage on your own... Well, you can, but you need this...
Without that equipment, you can't flash it... So, my advice is: Take it to the service centre...

Are you all insane or what? I already wrote that you can't flash n-gage on your own... You can do it only when you have flashing box and appropriate software, but, as I ALREADY told, you better take it to Nokia Service center...
You don't need to pay for N-gage or QD repairs if you bought it less than a year ago. Nokia will repair it for you for free. Contact Nokia and they'll tell you where to take it or send it for repairs.
Even if your N-gage or QD is over a year old, the cost of repairing WSOD is very small.
As VooXo said, you can't repair WSOD yourself, but a repair shop can.
Out of curiousity...
Would I be right in saying that the error that causes WSOD has something to do with users having used too much memory on messages? Seems to be what's being said here.
This seems kind of strange, and a bit suspicious (that's one thing you'd expect the phone to handle reasonably well)! Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of this, just wanna be clear:
a) Almost all users seem to encounter this problem at some stage, some with a certain degree of regularity.
b) You can't do a HARD reset on an NGAGE QD (like you might with a Pocket PC/Palm) because it's been designed without a button to do so.
c) You can't just buy a cheap cable to fix this because the NGAGE QD has been designed in such a way that if you want to flash it you need a tool that costs almost as much (or more than) the phone itself.
d) This problem (with a basic function of the phone, according to original poster) hasn't been fixed in many successive firmware versions, despite the fact that it's such a huge issue for this phone, and despite the fact that Nokia has spent considerable time and effort tinkering with other less critical parts of the firmware.

I found this text I do not know if of the certainty, what voc�s they say me...
Now here is a new idea to try... I just tryed with my N-Gage QD. My mobile also came to NOKIA logo, and didn�t go any further... Remove your battery, and now take a peace of metal, shortcurcit the connectors in your mobile that battery would touch if it was inside. Keep it like that for a minute. Now you are deleateing shorterm memory settings like clock and date. All other data will remain. Reinsert your battery, power up your mobile, and if it does boot, don�t turn it off, make all backups you need then do deep reset.

I don�t know nothing about your place, but don�t you have an Nokia Service Point nearest? Search in Nokia Site. Flash a phone, may have consequences, see: http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27311&highlight=
In your case, the only good thing, is not losing the garantee, because N-Gage, probably have more age then garantee.
