I was initially going to get a 6600 last year, my brother has one and he has no probs at all, all the apps he installs work, camera video playback and Mp3 (third party) player work fine.

Then I saw the write ups about the X and decided to wait.

Most advanced smartphone, extra dedicated graphics and sound chips to cope with the extra processing power, excellent conectivity, platform 60 so huge library of software available, excellent audio/video capabilities.

Those are some of the things that made me go for the X, and do you know what, its a year later and non of them work.

Looks like I have another expensive doorstop to my collection - bugger (actually I can send it back 😊 )

I may be leaving you guys very soon, anybody have any recommendations for another smartphone thats on the market or coming soon (yes I do know that any smartphone I get will have problems, but at least it should be able to make calls ok)

get the nokia 6630 i got mine yesterday u gonna be amazed how fast it is and the quality of the picture is way better that n7610 and se s700 in italy is 360-399 euro i got mine from ebay.it 🙄 😉

I've been having this problem from the beginning.

Every once and again it seems the loudspeakers get disabled for some functions or even sound formats.
I noticed yesterday that the phone just vibrated when receiving a message, so I tried to change to another ringtone and it wouldn't work either.
Another aspect of this problem is that the volume can't be maxed (to hear the ringtones at all except for a wav-file), probably because the phonespeaker can't handle this.
I firts noticed this while using the mp3-player, the sound was awful and crackling and when I listened closer I found out the sound was coming form the phonespeaker. Here, again, you can't max the volume or you lose all sound.
A reboot fixes the problem.

I didn't do anything with the phone for it to act like this. I received a sms an hour or so before it acted up, and the ringtone could be heard then.

By the way, at the Sendo (or rather smartphone) meeting in Holland yesterday, someone got his inaudibility problem fixed. (He was hard to hear by others when calling with his X).At least with him it was a hardware problem.
The microphone appears to be in a airtight room. (Underneath your battery you can see the screws). If the screws aren't secured enought, a gap can occur which can cause heavy disturbance to the microphone. The solution was to unscrew the screws (with a fitting torx)for a bit and rescrew them tightly (not to tightly, you don't want to break the the case!). After this he could be heard clearly.

The representative from Sendo also recommended removing the battery starting up with "5" pressed after updating the X.
(personally I used the *#3730# (or whatever it is) and the "5"reset before updating to make it a clean install, next time I'll also take out the battery then..(just in case))

I was so happy that finally a new firmware came out. But now my sendo x is completely dead.
I've done as usal the firmware upgrade. The update process was almost over then somehow came an error. The program told me to reconnect the USB cable to the phone. I tried that but still didn't work. The computer doesn't recognize now that a phone is attached to USB port. So it's impossible to finish the upgrade.

I even had the phone pluged to the power (to be sure not running out of battery once).

When I connect it now to the USB I can see that the phone is in upgrade mode, but mRouter doens't see the phone.

is there any chance that I can finish or redo the upgrade process?

I hope the phone is not dead forever 😞

thanks for any help

Take a look at the Orange SPV C500 or the i-mate SP3i (the same phone in a different case, available SIM free for any network).

They are Microsoft based but they're very small, very fast, the battery lasts for ages and all the software I've tried has worked perfectly.

It's not Symbian but it works really well. The Calendar, Contacts, Tasks etc functionality is MUCH better than Series 60.

"The grass is always greener on the other side"

I think you are forgetting the problems they have too.

rwabel, you need to put the phone back into update mode and start the update again. If the phone displays the update screen as soon as you switch it on normally then you need to restart the priocess - do not assume that just because it shows the update screen it is in update mode.

That means switching the phone off & then switching it on again while holding down the * key, it should display the Sendo X screen and then after a while go into the update screen.

Then do the update again.

Having power plugged in while updating is not a solution - since the operating system is being flashed and the battery charging is controlled by software the phone does not actually received power while it is being updated. Ensure your battery is fully charged BEFORE starting the update

I've been trying a C500 for the last two weeks. I haven't found any real problems.

I'm not trying to get into a Symbian vs. Microsoft debate by the way. I don't have any strong feelings about the matter. I just want a tool that works for me.

😃 So its NOT only the Sendo thats got problems. How weird lol

I still cant see any problems with the Sendo really. A few glitches here and there, but what else is new 😃

thanks for the reply. I finally achieved to see the Sendo X screen. I had to hold the * and wait until the phone starts (it starts sometimes and gets in the update mode and then some seconds later switches off). I then started the upgrade process. But after a short time the phone just switched off. That's maybe a problem of the battery. I'm now again in the beginning of the update mode.

It seems to me that the battery won't get charged anymore.

I think I am going to become a hermit and live in a shed in the middle of a forrest without electricity

That should sort out all my problems with the X 😃 😃 😃

Everyone, please state all the bugs you encounter with this version and also things you would like to see better/changed.

I will add them in this post, so we have a clear view of the to do bug-clearing.

here we go:

1, My back light and keypad light refuses to come back on after keypad unlock (this is after a couple of hours of normal use and using the keypad lock/unlock several times),

2. hit the red button when in phone lock and screensaver, you will be out of the phone lock without having to hit (soft+*). SOLVED

This one (nr 2, phone lock bug) is still there. NOT SOLVED

I find it really odd that i have NEVER had any of these problems people are listing. Guess im lucky 😃

but stu, i thought you said you had the same problem?

what should i do with mine... ? contact sendo ?

Ok I upgraded my French Pixmania handset with the Portuguese firmware.

There are definitely improvements:

1) MP3 player is much better, actually shuffles properly and hasn't crashed at all yet.
2) Camcorder seems to have a better frame rate
3) Camera colours seem better when using flash
4) Vibrate continued after call is answered is FIXED 😊

Bugs I have noticed so far:

1) Now! is still displayed for network at first switch on.
2) Phone still asks me the lock code when I turn on the phone (with same SIM)
3) MP3 player is still slow and cumbersome
4) About a third of calls made while using the MP3 player were forwarded to voicemail. Interestingly enough the calls that went to voicemail were while I was viewing the Now! screen and the MP3 player was playing in the background. While the MP3 player was in the foreground (being viewed) it didn't miss a single call.
5) OggPlay still doesnt work well, it hangs a lot and is unstable :frown: (I think Sendo should send a handset to the developers so that they can fix it).

yes, you should contact Sendo!

I'm lucky in that I have two handsets - one of them (my UK Expansys handset) showed problems with 60D (something it had never done before) - the other handset (a French Pixmania handset) doesn't display the problems with 60D.

My Expansys handset is currently on it's way to Send so they can use it to diagnose the problems. Please note: they won't want every handset which shows this - mine going to them is a one off!

Stu,

So you have used the portugese f/w,

How are you finding it,

I have a Pixmania French handset with loads of probs (you have probably noticed),

I am just a little concerned that if I upgrade with f/w other than the French one then they will have grounds to refuse to have it back if its still is no good, Hmmm tricky

Hi Cash,

As I see it the reason sendo is offering specific software for specific countries/operators is twofold:-

First is to protect the 'added value' that some operators (like Vodafone, Telefonica etc.) bundle with their phones - this might include extra images, ringtones, themes, settings, software or whatever. These operators would not appreciate those who did not sign-up with them being able to get their added value products without the committment to them.

Secondly for the software that is not operator tied (ie. not Vodafone or Telefonica etc.) then it is to offer languages appropriate to the location in which the phone is sold. For example the Dutch and German software include English/German/French & Dutch as languages while the Portuguese, Spanish & Italian software includes English, Spanish, Italian & Portguguese as languages.

It is unlikely sendo would offer software updates that would change the identity of your phone, particularly if it is operator tied and vice versa - they are unlikely to offer the ability to convert the content from non-operator tied to operator tied content (see above). However going from one non-operator tied pack to another is another question.

Yes, I am using the portugese firmware on my Pixmania handset - it's working great on this handset.

It *has* changed the IG version shown in About to be the one of the portugese firmware, and I do have a very odd problem with installing applications (which I don't think anyone else has seen), but overall it's working great 😊
