Hey there!
Got a question, is it possible to change the text and icon color on the left and right bar from white (FFFFFF) to an other color?

Thanks
Kube!

hi kube... maybe u should try using PowerDesk... with PowerDesk, it's easy to change text color... or u can read swicthblade tutorial...

read the tut already

Hi Guys. I`m new to making skins and have a question. How do you overlay your image in Paint Shop Pro or what other types of software allow overlaying the image.

Thanks

Nope, sorry, I like it the way is. 😊 Believe me, what you're suggesting just won't look right, I've tried it before.

Yes, you have to change the RBG values in the SKN file. It's explained in the tutorial.

And on that note, Raynold, you might want to start doing that as well with your skins. I tried your latest skin and the application name text was completely unreadable.

How do you overlay your image in Paint Shop Pro

You could try a right-click and 'paste as new layer'.

thanks Raven next time I'll do that, like I said before I couldnt test it, so I dont know the final look of my skin.... the true thing is I dont have N9500....

I finally made an aqua style skin... thanks to andrew at iDesignThis.com for tutorial 😃

Oh, I see...

Well, I have another small tip for you; try using .BMPs in stead of .JPEGs. The difference in quality can be huge.

Hi. I just tried that and then set the new layer to overlay mode. It worked but how do I get rid of the original layer and still keep the layer on top as it is.

Thanks

I dunno. But why do you need to get rid of the original layer if it isn't showing anymore?

Anyway, I wouldn't be to bothered about this particular procedure. Frankly, you don't actually *need* to mess around with the layers. It should work just as fine if you use the full size 640x200 part of your image and save it as 1.bmp and so forth in the 'skinappview' folder (replacing the originals). The only place you will notice this change, is when you open a closed application on your commie. In stead of getting the left and the top bar and the rest white before the app loads, you will then see your full image. Another thing that I've been doing, is to simply cut out the spot that is supposed to be white in my image starting at point 32x33 and 92x33, and then save it as 1.bmp and so on. That way you get the white just as it is displayed by default.

I uploaded jpg files just for viewing, when I make a skin I do use Bmps.... do you have a macth wallpaper for aqua style skin?

Don't you think that's just a tad off topic? Search the forum and you'll find a dozen threads describing how to reformat your device.

I'm so glad you like it.. thanks

I really like the aqua theme, as i work all on macintosh. the lighter colors are beautiful. here's a little challenge for you:

is there anyway to change the highlight color to a bluish tone?

highlight color? refer to switchblade's tutorial, highlight color is 'a color' it's not an image like N6600 themes.... I'm really sorry stefanas..

Do you mean the highlight colour like the black one I used for my PS80 skin as illustrated above in the screenshots from Messaging and Control panel?

Raven wrote:Do you mean the highlight colour like the black one I used for my PS80 skin as illustrated above in the screenshots from Messaging and Control panel?

Yes, I meant the highlight color on your sweet ps80 theme, but also on the desktop, where it is a dull grey.

On another note, does anyone know how to convert bmp files into mbm files on a mac?
I'd like to get in on this action

stefanas wrote:Yes, I meant the highlight color on your sweet ps80 theme

Well, that's easy. You can do it yourself by simply opening up the blue.skn file in Notepad (or similar text editors) and changing #6 under [color_section] and #24 under [extra_color_section] to the RBG number of the colour you want.

but also on the desktop, where it is a dull grey.

That's a bit trickier. At least I can't seem to find any reference to that particular part in the tutorial.

Raven wrote:Hehe, no you didn't do anything wrong. That little black line on top is there in the default Desk application (haven't found a way to get rid of it). However, I only use PowerDesk as my desktop, and in PowerDesk you can change the text colour and there is no black line.

Cheers

Raven,
do you remember that post ? "the black line problem"...
I've got PM from a friend that asked the same quistion as I asked you before..
but he said he has a skin that has no black line problem on desk screen and he sent it to me....
as you know I cant test it (still using N6600..) could you test it so we can make the better skin?
I must say thank you very much....

I've spent hours trying to figure that out before, to no avail unfortunately. One of my skins; 'Matrix2' also doesn't have that line, but there I used Switchblade's 'skinappview' file. I just don't know why we get that line, nor do Switch... There must be something wrong happening in the compiling to MBM, but I don't know what.

I've found an interisting difference in the skin I've uploaded...
usually in skinapptittle.mbm (blue skn), there's an image 640x200 pixel which is image#5
why in the skin I've uploaded (orange skn)image#4 that have size 640x200 pixel (not image#5 like in blue skn)?
may be the black line problem only appears on skin that based on blue skin?

I'm sorry for my bad English...

Well, all the default skins have the exact same layout in 'skinapptitle', 'skinappview' and 'skincommandbar', and #4 in 'skinapptitle' is blank - only #5 should have an image. So it seems the person who created that skin simply did a mistake there, and it has nothing to do with the black line. At least that is what I think...
