Hey Guys,
Nokia announced 6680 & 6681 finally.. so i am sure, u guys have already studied about these new phones... so can any tell me, comparison between 6630 and 6680/6681.. what extra features over 6630, these phones got?
6630 vs 6680/6681
Check this out
A full comparison of the 6630 & 6680
From wat i can point out the difference are,
Better Screen Color,
Flash Camera,
Front Camera,
And Stereo speakers
the only major difference for me is the greater number of colors than the 6630(around 4x more). thats all that matters to me coz i'm not interested in 2 cameras
the diff aint that much to upgrade...and same internal mem......crap
Not worth an upgrade from the 6630. If you're looking for a new phone though, between the two I prefer the more conservative design of the 6680. But not enough to upgrade from my 6630. Once I get a s/w upgrade to my 6630 to iron out all the bugs I will be really happy.
6630 looks cool than 6680/81....isn't it? what do you think guys? ... what version of symbian will come with 6680, will it be 9.0 ?...

its not neccessary to think, just read the official information.... 6680/6680 will be exuipped with Symbian 8.0 ... 9.0 will come in second quarter of the year with the Series 60 platoform in 3.0 version... and these two devices will ship the market in March.... so no newer version will come with 6680 ... its only an upgraded 6630 with second camera, more colur display ... 🙄 And of course the 6680 will be available only in 3G countries, for GSM there is the 6681 model...

Are you sure there are no other hardware differences such as differences to the processor etc?
gurra777 wrote:Are you sure there are no other hardware differences such as differences to the processor etc?
6680/6810 are the same as 6630... same RAM,procesor, memory /10+64MB DV RS-MMC/,same display resolution /with more colour/,but someone from Nokia said, that you dont feel the difference, but its a better seller from the marketing point of view... the most important changes are only some:such as second camera, some UI improvements /start screen like in Windos Mobile/,but same battery /and with two camera maybe less stadby time, than the6630/...
i dont want to tell, that 6680/6681 are bad phones... they are great, but if you want more real changes and improvements than wait for Symbian 9.0 Series 60 3.0 platform based devices... 6680 is a great phone, but will ship only in 3G countries, for all other countries with GSM/GPRS,EDGE/ will ship 6681 model.... this is the marketing strategy of Nokia... 😃

Ok Thanks!
BTW: Do you (or anyone else) know how the 6630 works for playing video (such as an epsiode of a TV-show or even a whole movie). How long will the battery last? Will a movie with decent sound and picture quality (208x176 res?) fit into 128MB mem card which I understand currently is the biggest DualVoltage RS-MMC card on the market. Will the 6681 / 6680 or even the 3230 be better for this purpose for some reason?
Take a look at www.makayama.com they have s/w you can use for putting DVD onto your phone

3230/6680/6681 are all from the Dual Voltage "family" and in the case of 3230 there will be only 32MB card included in sales package... if we are talking about movies in smartphones, the most important is the compression... an 70 minutes lkong film can be 56MB in the lowest quality,or 125 in the highest ... 😃 and what about battery ? if you will watch an long movie than about 30% of battery life remains after wathing 🙄
3G: The way I see it, first of all the N6680 is the first TRUE 3G phone, since
it has an embedded video-camera in the front, which the N6630 is missing.
Design: The N6680 actually looks good, which the N6630 DOES NOT!!! If you're
sitting on the plane and want to watch a movie (in flight mode) through
e.g. Smartmovie in landscape mode, meaning you tilt the phone 90degrees
to place it on the side, will be difficult with the ackward design of the N6630.
Car: There is a proper holder for car-mounting of the N6680 (My prayors have
been heard!!! 😊(CR-27) which uses the pop-port connector, this does not exist
for the N6630. This means that you can connect the N6680 to your car hands-
free system and still have the bluetooth free for connecting e.g. to a bluetooth
GPS and using car navigation system like Tomtom Mobile. Doing this on the N6630
will not be possible since it can only connect to Nokia car-hands-free through
bluetooth.
Display: The N6680 will have slightly better screen due to more colours, but this
difference will probably be not that big..
And of course, you have a flash (or a night-light) on the camera on the N6680!! 😊
These differences are of major relevance for me, and the reason for me not
buying the N6630!
Let's just hope that bigger DV-RS-MMC cards will be available soon, I will
need at least 1Gb!!!

the difference in screen quality is minimal, because of the same resolution... maybe it has two cameras and its the first rel 3G phone, but with the same battery tthe standbytime will be bad... you will forsake it 😃

I can't really see why the N6680 should use considerably more power than the
N6630!!??? That is just pure speculation from you!! The specified standby-times
from Nokia of the N6680 are the same as for the N6630..
Even if the phone has 2 cameras it doesn't mean I will use both of the cameras
simultaniously!!
I am soo looking forward for this phone!! Running Tomtom Mobile on it, connecting
it to me car-handsfree-system and still be able to use my bluetooth-GPS!! 😃

That's the first practical advantage I've seen with the 6680. I reckon this phone will be lapped up by business users, there's loads of people complaining about the lack of a proper car kit for the 6630.

speculation ? dont be crazy... maybe eveyrone who uses 6630 in 3G is crying because of the terrible standby time and this will repeat with the 6680 too,., i ddint tell, that two cameras will kill the battery... only the presence of two cameras will help to use videocalls easily and more frequently than with the 6630 and this will kill the battery.... and of course displays with more colours need more energy...
and if we are talking about speculations... everything about this phone is at the moment only a speculation, because this device is not in the shops now and we can only speculate about the standby time and many other things... only after its launch we will se,that was was a fact and what was just an speculation... 😃
i have a sendo x at the moment but will buy 6680 when it comes out

Not everyone will use 3G though, especially video calling. You could always switch 3G off, just as with the 6630 😉
The fact of the matter is that the 6680 is a better phone, but the improvements are of no use to me personally.

i can agree with you 😊 its a bit better phone, but there are so much and so important changes ... and of course, because in my country there is no 3G yet and the 6680 will be available only in 3G countries, for the GSM countries there is the 6681...

sorry... there are NO so much and so important changes 😃

i agree with you that the design of the N6680 looks good, 😃 but i also like the design of the N6630, 😃 however the N6630 is not difficult or awkward to use once tilted 90degrees to watch clips in full screen mode.
Having just recently signed an annual contract I have no choice anyway.
My, utterly shallow, point of view is: I'd have one, it looks better.
Have all these phones got the 'push to talk' feature? That's something I'd like to have.
garyparson wrote:Have all these phones got the 'push to talk' feature? That's something I'd like to have.
yes, they have... 6680/6681 are with push to talk, and 6630 too,but its not preinstalled

personally, i don't care for video calling AT ALL...it's a overated gimmick...of course its great the first time you use it...wow..n all that...but after ya used it a couple of times...who cares?? i love the form of the 6630....but i hate the look of the 6680...its very ugly...and how often will you use video calling if your minutes are not included in your tarriff??? i thought so...video calling...another joke...nd one thats not very funny...rant over lol. 😃

i dont care about videcalls, because there is no UMTS in my country than this question is not actual 😃 the situation is terrible, especially on pre-paid,no GPRS,only the very old, slow and expensive CSD ... but maybe after one of the operators after its rebranding to T-Mobile will something change...

guys guys, there is always the official nokia site that claims about its standby time. whether they are factual is another thing. 😃
face it, mobile phones are just like PCs. they are going to get better and better. in terms of design or features. the next moment, nokia will come a 6690 or 6680i or watever.. which is the enhancement of 6680. and the cycle goes on and on and on.. 🙄
