there has been absolutely no updates for weeks now i am really suprised tooo & even disappointed . at least they should be in touch

i am really disappointed by the kind of responce eticamcorder 2 team is giving us we r giving out time and energy and they dont bother even to update us .. rrealy really sad

I totaly agree with you!!If they only would tell us, that they work on it.....but nothing!! It seems, the Projekt has given up. Thats really bad, cause the Programm were great!!

this software rocks but then too there are many problems ppl face on 6630. It lacks good Fps On high resolution and we want real resolution on enlarging. We really expect a lot from this software and before someone buys it they want a version which fully satisfies them. Well i am sorry to say few problems i mentioned above does not do justic to this greatest software. So pls come up with a new version real fast cause this software is hot right now and then u can expect the sales to go sky rocket i am sure. Just work hard on Fps at least we expect 15 And give us real high resolution. I am sure its a tough job but belive me ppl r really excited about it. Everyone was amazed when i showed them the demo of the software and complained the samethings i mentioned above Fps & res. Thats whats lacks. Pls come fast with a new and improved version for 6630. Thanks a lot.

Can someone please answer a couple of questions about Camcorder 2 (Nokia 6600) for me?

How do you disable sound when recording a video?
How do I reduce the frame rate used when recording?

The files that are created by this program are too large, I can't fit more than 15 minutes of video on my MMC. I'd like to have at least 30 minutes of video, so halving the frame rate would surely achieve that.

It was possible to do both the things I want in the old version, surely it's possible with this one too?

I've got a problem. When i record small movies it plays fine, but when i create long movies it playes with very fast speed. I checked video info and saw that FPS is 100 !

So video which must play for 4 min plays in 35 sec 😞((

Here are some answers to your questions:
1. how to avoid conflict with SmartMovie
actually, this problem is caused by poor file association system in Symbian (as explained by GZ). The only way to avoid this problem before we have a dedicate ETI player is DO NOT OPEN THE AVI FILE IN FILE MANAGER. The right way to play the video is via the file  open option in SmartMovie.
The file association mechanism in Symbian is not reliable.
2. can I turn audio off in recording?
No. we did not provide that option in Camcorder II. But as far as I know, may post editor on PC can mute the video. I have tried with window movie maker and Arksoft Showbiz to achieve this.
3. how to reduce frame rate?
The frame rate is not adjustable. But the video quality is configurable. You can lower the video quality to reduce the size of the video.
but I am afraid both reduce FPS and video quality are not good ideas. The profile we defined are based on numerous testing. We have balanced among many thins, including acceptable quality, frame rate, camera speed, CPU consumption, and many more.
so, my suggestion is, to change to a bigger MMC card is the best solution to time limitation in recording.

As to the performance of Camcorder II on 6630, I have something to say.
We have never given up in trying achieving higher performance. But it is really hard. We have received good suggestions here, and have tried, but this approach gives little help. But we are still trying.
I think we are here to discuss technical issues. I do appreciate your suggestion and recommendation here. But all of us must realize that every thing has its limitation, especially in technical field. We will be always trying to break this limitation; meanwhile, your kind suggestion will be greatly welcome. I hope we can find the solution together finally.

On defence of the Camcorder team :
I beleive that promissing a release date is premature at best since the solutions to the video problems possed by the 6630 are not as easily solved as one might think. You have to give the company time to perfect a working software model that are up to the standards provided for such an application. They could not possibly give us a reasonable release date, nor can they give us a progress beta demo app to test without having the right fixes in place to warrent beta testing.

We can all shout out that we want "xx" framerates and "xx" resolution, but the team can only do what they can given the tools and hardware at there disposal.
They are 'good' enough to at least respond to inquries and keep us updated on develoupment progression. I thank them for that and all of you should be too!

Furthermore, It is VERY MUCH possible to get 21fps at the standard 160x120 resolution. I have acheaved this, but there are 2 major problems still to fix. For some reason the audio codec will not sync properly to the final GOP when rendering the output video after buffering takes place. I beleive that this is a video codec issue which I cannot solve. (the codec is very fast I must note) Therefore any audio recorded at higher then 18fps will 'BREAK UP' when recorded.
There is a solution, but it requires the audio sample rate to be raised, but this in turn eats up CPU and slows down video rendering performance. Its kind of a catch 22. As far as high buffers for video rendering, any pauses during recording (rendering) of video after 30-60 seconds is due to a problem with read ahead right issues when the alowed buffer runs out. This can be easily solved, but Im sure the team is working on it.

Now, for 320 x 240 resolution :
It is not possible to render TRUE 320x240, and downconverting 640x480 res rendering is cutting performance in half. The only practical way of doing this is to UPSAMPLE a perfect quality capture at 160x120 to 320x240. Trust me, I have done this and the output is very good, and even better them my Digital camera which recored nativly at 320x240. I have doe this at 16.78FPS with no sound and at 14.61FPS with flawed sound. It is also possible to caputre 640x480 res video nativly at 11FPS which I have also done.

THEREFORE :
If I can do all of what I claim above, then the Camcorder Team can do much more and Im sure they are working hard at supplying us with a quality product in the end. Please people, have some patients, I do and lets leave them to do there thing.

P.S., most of the posts regarding general questions for the application can be found in this thread, so search other pages for your answers before flouding it with redundent questions.

wow moan you really got Me excited i am really looking forward to 640*480 res videos i just cant imagine how fine it will play on my pc. Can u provide us with a small demo clip of video recorded at this res. I think i just cant wait for the new version Cumin Out with such high resolution. I'm trying to use Camcorder2.02 with my 6680, but I keep getting out of sync audio and lossed video frames.... the entire video plays too fast and skips.

Are any of these .ini files tailored to give better and more accurate performance with a 6680!? :icon14:

well i am thinking of buying a nokia n70. anychance of eti working on this mobile . i know it already has high resolution video, but if eti works on it , , it can improve the quality of videos more and make it look beautiful on pc.. so anychance of eti n70 version. pls just reply to this i am close to buy n70.. ok pls do reply.

well i have tested eticamcorder 2 on nokia n70 and everything works fine even the zoom the video folder skins everying, just videos does not record menus and evetything works fine. video records but its blue blue all on screen. i can send u samples if u want even i can be ur tester if u want, i want the camcorder2 to be released for this version i just cant imagine the clear videos i will get on n70 with camcorder 2 . so pls do make a n70 version , thanks

i am just waiting for eticamcoder version for nokia n70 and i am sure n70 already records good videos and wirh eti supporting it the quality will be twice. so pls eti authors get one version for n70

Xcute Dv1 (3megapixel) and DV2 (6Megapixel interpolated) is a phone but is similar to the N90 the way it operates but the video quality is far better. The N90/N70 only does 352*288 at 15fps max and the DV1 and DV2 does 640*480 at 30fps. Its great, the video quality is amazing. You can burn the video to DVD and it looks great on my 28inch tv, no more small windows opened on the PC! I got mine off ebay for $290 and it is the best thing I have bought in ages. I had the nokia 6630 and gave it to my girlfriend. It even has a flash on it, check out the website below for a review, theres even a few clips to download to see how good the quality is!!!!!

ya i totally agree with you the quality of X Cute is better but let me tell you something nokia 6630 recorded videos at merely 176*144 and With not such great Fps But with Eti Camcorder 2 it managed to record videos at better Fps And it also got high resolution with it Which Made Videos Look WOrthy On Pc . It took the quality of videos far far ahead with the build in camcorder. Now think about N70 & N90 They already record decent videos at high resolution with good Fps That Too In mp4 Format And i am very much sure with Eti Supporting it N70 Will record If Not better Then same quality as your X Cute records. Well as far as u get tired waiting for Eti, Well dear you have to give time To the company for the good things to come and i am sure in a month u will see a N70 Version. And remember X cute has nothing special except the camera it does not even have 3g support, no email suport no 3rd party applications will ever support it. So i will wait for Eti cause i am sure things will be far far better in N70 With eti Supporting it . So i request the company to release n70 Version soon.

Well, since most series 60 phones internal structure is more like "extended microcontroller" rather then "stripped down pc architecture", the standard programming approach won't be effective.

Say, what we have on average series 60 device.

CPU with rough performance euqivalent to average 486DX4-100mhz. (even in 220mhz models)

Slow memory bus, with no DMA mode, so, data transfer uses noticeable cpu resources.

So,I think, that compression to mpeg4 is not a very bright idea, it puts more load on cpu, and less - on memory bus. I think, that compression scheme, that uses less cpu resources, but more bandwidth, should be acceptable. i.e. like MPEG1 encoding method. Basically, I mean, instead putting 80% load on CPU, and 20% on memory, putting 40% on CPU and 60% on memory will give better video quality.

well what i think is 663o did a very bad recording with the build in recorder but with eti it rocked it really changed the way we took videos and i phones with a good camera thats why i wentt for n70 cause it record videos in high resolution that too at 15 fps thats done by the build in recorder and when i heard about the xcute and heard it supports high res at 30 fps i really thought i did a mistake gettin a n70 but then i thought may be eti can reach there with n70 bt producing a n70 version of eticmacorder. so what they did with 6630 and made it reach n70/n90 level why can they make n70 reach xcute dv2 level And Dont Forget N70 HAS LOT AND LOTS OF RAM 32 so it wont be that difficult task.... i am just waiting for a n70 version very badly. so pls guys reply and give us a n70 version of eti thanks a lot
