@6630

You seem convinced that you can do better, when are you releasing your app then?
What other S60 apps have you made that gives you the knowledge and experience to question what the software writer is telling us? I don't think he is lying and would write an application that underperforms when the same app for another phone actually increases performance.
If you can write a better app, which is what you are telling us, then i'll be the first to buy it!! 😉

Where is the final?? Is there so much to optimize?? I played with the N90 this weekend and take a video....it was absolute great!! High quality and without any artefacts. If Camcorder 2 can make this too- fantastic!
Please give us some new informations 😊
Or even a beta version!!

dfdzgz

Hey.....What happend?? Is there a little chance to get the 6630 version??
Please answer and tell us, if it take more time to find the bugs....or give us a demo!!
It would be nice to know, if the project is still avlive....... :frown:

@dfdzgz

Hey, the Camcorder2 is working wonderfully on 6600. Thanks again.

Some time ago I think you were going to try to add a night filter. Any luck with that?

Would love to have one, that would really set this app even further ahead of the competition.

Patience, my friends! 😃 Of course the project is alive! As of the day before yesterday the 6630 version has been released by the development team -- we are now waiting for some paperwork to be completed so we can put it on Handango. It was not easy this time because of the various obstacles thrown upon us by Symbian + Nokia. Fortunately, we managed to work around all of those, but trust me, it was NOT easy... Anyway, the version is done and it supports the 6680 with the back camera as well.

Cheers,

G

NOW!
i am finding and posting it!
just a few minuts!

Hi, all there,
so, finally, it comes.
Sorry for the delay. Gary told me to upload this ASAP since the day before yesterday. I was busy for the last testing, so...
Anyway, thanks for our testing and developing team, and special thanks for Lee Murphy, he gave me a very comprehasive testing report yesterday.

Please find the app and download it. In this version, you will find:
1. supurb video quality in EDIT mode! At least x10 better than the build-in app
2. 320x240 mode is supported.
3. Ultra stable performance.
4. Back camera is supported (it caused us extra time in optimization), and camera selection machanism will be added in next version.
5. All the features that Symbian 7 version supported, skins, plug-ins...

And please note:
Camcorder Club is online now! Please casually drop in and get registered. (www.eyemail.com.cn/camcorder) I am finishing the forum part. When it is done, I hope I can see every one of you THERE!. I mean, do your video BLOG and let me see your video there! 😎

Hi, this is great!
But where can I go and pay for it, I can not record 😞
If i buy from your site I get so far but then it turns chinese or somink, and it's not listed on handango yet.. so near..yet so far....
If I buy the 6600 version on handango will the unlock code work on this version?

Cheers

Will

Maybe there is a point to add a time limit so I can record a small video and then decide

to buy or not to buy.

Because here in “etiCamcorder 6630-6680 Third Edition” when I try to record I receive message to enter a S/N I cant test the 320x240 resolution ((

I can record but after installing this app my pc can't recognize 6630 via BT and cable . What happened then ????

That's great that 6630-version is done... but I find some bugs in it. Please fix them!
P.S. Damn forum! It thinks that my video sample is 123MB large!! But it's just 1.2MB! So I can't post it... but it contains a SERIOUS bug! Please leave me your e-mail and I'll send it.

FINALLY!! I got an answer to the main question: "Why FPS is low (on 320x240) and sometimes instable??" Because, EVERY frame is a key-frame! And that's NOT right!! If you'll set a one keyframe in one or two seconds, quality will be still high, but perfomance will be SIGHTLY increased, I think!
P.S. In 6630-version FPS is REALLY instable (not only at 320x240, on 160x120 too!!) and, as I said before, some frames are broken!

Cant get the 320x240 mode working on 6630, when I record a clip in EDIT mode and transfer it to pc the resolution is listed as 160x120. In phone and pc mode the resolution is the same but the quality is not as good. Am I doing something wrong? How does the custom mode work?

If you look into Editing.ini file you can see that it is really have 160x120 resolution.
Custom1 and Custom2 profiles have real 320x240 resolution.

Ok, I got the 320x240 mode working with Custom profile, thanks. Just comparing quality against the nokia video recorder.
Where is the ini file and how do you edit it?
Whats the difference between Custom 1 and Custom2?

I have compared the image quality of the 6630 ETI camcorder with the included Nokia Video Capture app and the ETI quality is better.
Side by side the ETI video is clearer, crisper and not as pixelated.

In ETI EDIT (160x120) mode the image quality is noticably better than the in built app quality but the frame rate seems to fluctuate. I dont know if I would say the quality is better by a factor of 10 but it is better.
In ETI Custom2 mode (320x240) the image quality is even better but the frame rate drops to about 6-7fps. If only the fps was better then this mode would be great, it is still very useable but lots of movement really lets it down.

Even when the in built in app 3GP files are converted to avi using an Mpeg4 codec which did improve them slightly the ETI quality was a bit better.

A few issues....
There is some bad image breakup at intervals where portions of the screen go bright green, yellow or black for a second. It happens fairly regularly.
The downside is the zoom control, the smooth motion of the in built nokia software is a sure winner.
Video files cannot be played when selected from the Gallery->Video Clips folder. The screen goes black.
If you delete a file from the Gallery->Video Clips folder, and you then open ETI the screen is white and you must turn on/off the phone to get it working again.

Credit to the developers, good job. Its a shame about the 'bug' that we can't get the 15fps in 320x240 mode.

So what are the next plans for the ETI Camcorder then? i have purchased off Handango and still havnt recieved my fuckgin key ive been waiting 6 days so far now.

IMPORTANT!

dfdzgz,
I know why you guys are having problems with 6630 video in your program.

First of all, lets start with what I was able to do while editing the ini settings on your Retail Verion 2.02 :

I have been able to produce over 17 frames per second with no frame lag and perfectly synced audio at double the quality of your default settings (resolution 160x120). I have also been able to get 9FPS perfect in 320 x 240 with your Beta Version. The problem with your software is in how you guys are BUFFERING the video data before rendering it and wrighting the file. For example, If you increase your video buffer to, lets say "2842480" instead of the default "20480", your video codec will have enough time to render all GOP before refreashing to another frame sequence and lag the wrighting to mmc. The 6630 MMC is a LOW VOLTAGE memory card which yealds faster transfer rates and less memory bursts per data packet due to less aggressive reading/wrighting. The only problem is that whrighting a Large BUFFER will cause instabillity. Also a large buffer will cause a 1.3 sec. pause in the video render after about 30sec. of record after the buffer runs out. All you guys have to do is solve that problem and it is possible to get 18FPS in 160x120 mode,... I have done this!!! (in your older beta versions).

I see you guys are also implementing a temporary file for wrighting video as an increased buffer space right on the mmc. This is not a good idea as it causes the RENDER ONLY to be faster, not the CAPTURING of video frames in harware before filtering/proccessing etc. Thertefore this should be amended as this workaround is inefficiant.

Lastly, your audio rate is too low,.. should be 3100 and GAIN is too high as the dynamic range of the microphone is higher then 6600 phones by 0.15DB and therefore your audio recording is producing CRACKING or CLIPPING in loud sounds.

Hope you guys take my advice to heart and try what I suggest as it should help you guys out alot!. I can provide Proof of my claims if you would like (video file at rates claimed) or ini files with modified settings to do so.

Thanks for wrighting an amazing peice of software and keep up the good work.
(ps. cant wait for retail 6630-80 version to come out)

I don't get ETI camcorder to work.
The application starts, but when I press the button to record, it just quits.
Any help?

Great work gino ! could you give us your modified .ini files ? ( for editing & custom profiles I wanna get a try ... )

FOR EYEMAIL PROGRAMMERS : may be you can add a routine in your app which test RSMMCDV speed when the camcorder starts . According to mmc capabilities , the program could set the right value for buffersize according to selected profile. I think it's not a problem for anyone if camcorder gets a still image after 30 seconds if fps increase and audio problems will be solved ... but that's my opinion 😊
I know there's much work to do , but if you find the right solution , that will be a masterpiece as gino said !

sorry for my bad english!

can u send me the ini file by which i can create video with 18 fps pls [email protected]

i am not really happy with the 6630/6680 version due to lack of fps in 320 x 240 mode. i really expected a lot but the lack of fps really spoils the video . can u pls post or send me the ini file here is my add [email protected]

pls do help

You only have to ask once mate! 😊
Why not edit the ini file yourself like he explains in his post - will save you waiting.

i mean the pc or editing ini pls give me some details like what to edit which will make the Fps Better using the high resolution videos

Hi Guys, Due to popular demand I have supplied ini files that work best for each version I have used : Beta, Retail and the new 6630 versions. These ini files are tailored to each version because each one has limitations with respect to buffer handling, video modes supported etc. For example, the Beta version supports a 320x240 resolution mode and the Retail version does not. Same with buffer size. Please also note that a Large buffer might result in an automatic shutdown of your phone. If you cannot restart properly, remove your battery & try again. Also, depending on the type of DVRSMMC you use, your results might differ in framerate and functionality. Each card (I think there are 14 types and over 9 different memory speeds) will react differently to these settings. Therefore, please do not get descouraged if the setting only yealds a 15.98FPS or 16.32FPS instead of 18FPS. I do gaurantee that you will have AMAZING video quality, perfect sound and faster then built-in camera FPS performance. Just play with the settings and you should get it the way I did. Also note: make sure you do not have alot of programs and tasks running in the background as they take up RAM space needed to pre-buffer.

I wish I could post my example videos, but Im limitied by the space allowed by this board.

Thanks guys, and happy camcordering........ Please post all of your results and comments as Im sure the EYEMAIL people would like to know,...
