Looks like, another bug! If move cursor in "Menu" or "Settings" too fast we can get fake-highlighted options!

I will test on 6620 and post results, although previous verson of ETI did not work on 6620.

Good news, it works on all fw versions to date on 6620. 😃

The audio is choppy during playback but this may be due to a full mmc.

When installed to Phone Memory, everything seems to work fine.

I am also seeing the same "profile bug" as DJKOS when installed to mmc on both 6600 and 6620, all have 1gb mmc.

I've expermimented with all the popular avi apps using different orders of install and everything works fine although the last avi app installed will associate itself with .avi files and become the default player/app.

One other thing, I don't like a cluttered root drive E:. Can you relocate E:\Profiles to sub-dir of where the app was installed (i.e. E:\System\Apps\ETICamcorder)? This would make for a more oragnized structure and I also think the current location will have to be looked at anyway because I think this may be a reason "Profiles" is not working when installed to the mmc.

I'm not seeing the "Backlight" problem on either 6600 or 6620. When "On" it stays on. When "Off" it turns off after set amount of time in system.

Looking forward to next beta release. Things are really looking good for first beta and I love the avi output.

DJKOS wrote:Looks like, another bug! If move cursor in "Menu" or "Settings" too fast we can get fake-highlighted options!

I can reproduce this error only in "Menu". In "Settings" this does not seem to be a problem, I can rapid toggle either left or right and selector always ends up in the right position and functions properly.

Tested on both 6600fw 4.09.1 and 6620 all fw to date.

Edit: When low on memory I am seeing this problem with "Setting" as well.

Edit: ETI installed to MMC for this test.

Here is a sample movie captured with CamCorder2 Preview. Maybe it will help you to fix low-FPS/audio bugs. Size is 371KB - not 3371 - that's forum's bug! 😉

First of, tons of thanks to the guys in this forum who helped with the bug hunting.

The finding on the profile bug is very important. It is resulted by installing the profile files in the wrong place. I will fix it and take the advise of moving it to a more discreet location so not to clutter the root drive.

I think the slow video is caused by an incorrect audio stream which I use to calcuate the duration and frame rate of the resulting AVI.

The Editing profile on the 6630 specific version should allow 320x240 capture, so don't worry, the feature will be there 😉 A tip - if you look at the profiles you will see them are just plain text files. If you are brave you can try modifying the parameters and see various results... be warned, not everything works! 😉

Cheers and thanks again to DKJOS, EinZtein, willy, and many others

Gary

It seems that I am the first one who post a comparision. 😉 With much much pleasure!
From my point of view, Philips used to be acceptable before I made this comparision.
I suggest you open the QuickTime(playing 3gp file) and WMP(playing AVI file) simultaneously, you will see the big gap in quality between them.

Hope you guys enjoy this.

I have tried to edit profiles, but I didn't get any visible results.
When beta-testers will be able to download a preview for 6630? I want to test it very much! 😊

Looks like, I got a new bug here... or, maybe, a feature... 😊
If after zooming in open "Settings" and change "Save to..." or "Profile" setting, zoom will be reseted to initial value!

As we have already collected quite a few feedbacks from the previous beta, we have officially begun bug fixing on these issues, and soon a more stable version will be released for further testing. Therefore, this "preview" version can be freely downloaded via the following link, but do keep in mind this is very pre-mature version so don't judge the final product by it:

Have fun! And make sure you install the program on "phone", not MMC.

Maggie is the wiz working on that... she showed me a working version today but no sound... but she said it's fixable. I will keep closer eyes on it and report back to the forum.

dont know if this has been posted yet or not, but on my 6680 it only can use the front camera i cant get it to switch to the back camera

So what is actually the benefit of using the ETI Camcorder compared to the one already installed on the phone?

dfdzgz wrote:Two years ago around this time, I was locked in my Beijing apartment. The city was incredibly serene, thanks to SARS, and I finally had the time to learn how to program Symbian and write that piece of software I had wanted to write all along for my then spanking new Nokia 7650 -- a camcorder that does not quite after 10 seconds. A month later the ETI Camcorder was born.

Long story short, I tried to market it but could not support it -- 70,000 downloads a month is more than I could handle in my spare time. Not wanting to annoy my customers, I shut down the Handango account and handed the product over to a Beijing-based retailer. ETI Camcorder was officially gone.

Much has changed in two years. Almost all mobile phone camcorders are doing this "unlimited recording" thingy, and offering an UI with instant-on view finder and non of those "New Recording", "Save Recording" non-sense. You don't really need ETI Camcorder anymore.

But is there room for a better camcorder program? I thought so. Thus, after two years, I give you Camcorder2 -- a completely re-written, faster, prettier, and above all much more fun ETI Camcorder!

Since I'm no longer the sole creator/owner of this program, I cannot give you an exhaustive list of the features before the official release date (in the next couple of weeks we will start the Beta testing program. You are more than welcome to participate - just drop me a message here). However, I have managed to attach a couple of screenshots here for your viewing pleasure.

Some features I'm allowed to disclose:

- 100% faster MPEG-4 CODEC for much smoothier recording
- Themed recorder UI (user can create own theme too)
- 2x smooth digital zooming
- Output to standard DivX AVI
- 24/7 customer support, handled by full-time support specialists
and, more importantly --

THE SAME, UNBELIEVABLE LOW PRICE! Even better, legitimate owners of the old ETI can enjoy a 50% discount!

Okay, that's enough. I know I'm sounding more like marketing now 😉 Rest assured, I have not lost my programming skills, and those involved in creating this new version are all top-notch programmers. The software is still created by small group of people with love and passion -- the spirit never dies.

Stay tuned, my friends!

Sincere,

Gary

Well I tried to use the program with my 6600 and I edited the profiles. I managed to have an EXCELLENT image quality.
However, FPS is very bad even if I use the default PC profile (about 4 or 5fps) which is too slow... I will be happy with 10fps 160x120 with quality set to 32.
I don't know if it's possible 😊

That is VERY strange, at PC profile we should achieve at least 7FPS... Please send me your recording and let me take a look at it. Also, are u recording to phone memory? I understand that is considerably slower than writing to MMC.

Gary
Ps. Has anyone else in this forum experienced this?

Hi Gary,

Any idea on a time frame for next release of Camcorder2?

I'm very excited about this app. Any luck with the night filter?

I have 6600 fw 4.09.1 and this is not happening. I even installed to mmc and no problems except that old problem of the video playing on the PC at 80x. I managed to resolve that problem by moving the "Profile" dir and contents from the mmc to phone memory.

Everything is working perfectly for me function wise with video and audio quality.

Here 's a sample video taken with PC profile (the default UNCHANGED one)
The fps is 5 which bothers me a bit.
😃
I have Nokia 6600 - Firmware v3.42
I am recording on a 512MB RS-MMC.

Recommendations : Please
+ add that night filter
+ make the fps better (if possible).
+ add a time indication when recording
+ add a possibility to rename videos on "My Videos" (rename both .avi and .inf)
+ When zooming in in my videos, app crashes very often.
+ Add 640x480 resolution with a low kbps (it sounds crazy, don't know if it's possible but it's maybe faster than resizing all frames to 320x240)
One question: What's the biggest possible value of the quality parameter ?

Other than that, it's an EXCELLLENT piece of software !!! :icon14: :icon14: :icon14: :icon14:

hi, buddy,
from my view, i think it is almost perfect with 6630.
i am not sure with 6680/81.
although they are of same symbian 8.0, there IS something different between them.
