I`ve tried two versions of installing the app. First on the phone and after that on the MMC-Card. In both versions are allways the same bugs! 🙄
First of all, that all other applications running on the system where shut down, for example Active Desk or Smart Answer!
The second bug is, that the videos played a)very fast or b) the quality is very bad!
My question- is there a chance, that the 6630 Version ist comming soon?
It would be great, to take videos in an amazing quality!! 😃 😃
Why do people keep putting the 6600 version on the 6630 then complain it has bugs?????
Try pushing a VHS Tape into a DVD player and see if your VHS has bugs.......

Good news! Finally solved the audio issue on 6630! It was not easy, and at the expense of certain performance... but anyhow, it works! Due to the silly Symbian audio problem (or is it Nokia?), I cannot encode video as fast as I could... instead, i have to pause here and there to give room to the audio capture process. Thus, although our CODEC can in fact compress at 7FPS+/320x240, it was not possible to achieve that kind of speed in the actual application. The result is roughly 4FPS 320x240 video on the 6630... not that pretty but certainly better than the videos shot by Nokia's new N70 or N90， which can do no more than 2FPS. Honestly, I don't think 4FPS is that impressive either, but that's about the best I can do at this point due to the Symbian bug. On the positive side, the 160x120 videos run absolutely like charm - you will notice no jitterings at all and the pic quality is quite good, very few artifacts are visible. Stay tuned, we are getting real close! 😊
Thats good news, but not to spoil your product, have you seen the latest videos coming out of the n90, certainly better than 2fps, take a look at this.

As I said before, You can try to get 320x240 frames from 640x480 ONLY for KEY-FRAMES! Other frames, I think, can be scaled from 160x120! That MUST increase a FPS! Please, try that! 4 FPS isn't as good as it can be... Or You're already using this method?

The 4FPS is a result of the stupid audio problem, which hogs the entire CPU... Or course, the slowness of the capture also attributes to the problem... Your idea sounds like a reasonable enhancement. I will certainly give it a try.

So as i undestand, if you turn off sound record at all FPS will increase? May be there is a point to make an option, for situations where i don't need sound but want a real good image?
P.S. Em is that true that N70 records with on 2FPS ???!!!

This good Camcordersoftware would make my 6630 perfect (accept the 1GB RS-MMC-DV Card 😃 ) and so there is no use to look an the new N70!!!

Not true, N90 and N70 actually record much better: 352x288 @ 15 FPS, although they have the same processor like 6630/6680.
Shouldn't it be possible to somehow get the same result on 6630/6680?
15 FPS at THAT resolution is impossible!! 6630/80 captures 176x144 video at ~15 FPS! 352x288 cannot be captured by the same processor at the same FPS!!

So have you not seen some of the sample video coming out of the n90 & n70?
It's looking real good, and with the same processor as the 6630/80
It would be great if camcorder2 coul match it!!

Now, that the N90 is available in Germany, many owner have linked videos, they made with this phone and they look great and very smooth!!! If the 6630 would also be able to take those videos- wondeful!!

Sorry guys, I have been travling lately so was not able to keep up with the posting... I get good news and bad news -- the good news is, I heard (haven't seen it myself, but will get to it as soon as I return to the office tomorrow) we finally fixed the 6630 bug, and was able to record 320x240 videos with audio. The bad news is, as fast as our CODEC can run, we can only achieve 5FPS... I honestly have no idea how the heck they could get 15FPS with N90 if it uses the same processor... In all my life I have not seen software encoding run that fast... not without some hardware acceleration. I'm sure if Nokia fixes the camera and audio bugs in N90 we should be able to extract more performance, but 15FPS is insane! I'm guessing the phones may have been given additional hardware to aid the encoding, for example, hardware optimized YUV conversion, DCT, or motion estimation... but then again, I'm only guessing since I have not seen the phones myself. Assuming my guess is true, and assuming Nokia does not hide the APIs from 3rd party developers, then I might be able to match that performance also. After all, the CODEC I'm using is the fastest I have seen so far... unless Nokia can prove me wrong by doing better on the 6630.

In a few days. I want to optimize the other recording mode a bit more before I release it. As for 5FPS video... it is quite watchable in my opinion, but then everyone has different opionions on this kind of topics 😊

ehm even movie@15fps is not really watchable a still a bit jerky ..
e.g. I record movies with my camera at 640x480@30fps .. well they take 1GB for each 8 minutes, but look great 😉

A movie looks smooth at about 25 FPS.
15 FPS are not really smooth but watchable and quite o.k. for a mobile.

ok ok ... but it's ridiculous ! 5 fps !! with multi shot in nokia default app i can take megapixel frames in a second . OK ... there 's no audio but I can't belive that 6630 can't do more. I'm sure that I'll use nokia default program ! :frown:
