Niks 5in,

I Am sorry you are dissapointed by the 320x240 performance, as it is not the fault of the EYEMAIL Team. as stated previously in this thread, the N6630 has certain 'limitations' that where 'added' if you will by Nokia. There are work-arounds, but editing the INI files will not solve this,... programmers will have to use some funky thinking to get around this problem. The key to some of these answers are posted on this thread. For instandce:

a) High buffer rates,
b) lower viewfinder preview resolution during record,
c) Upsampling of a 160x120 resolution capture to 340x240 (faking resolution)
d) instead of downsampling 640x480, let it acturally record a video in 640x480 resolution at 8fps.

Etc. Etc, Etc,......... These are only quick fixes......

I would personally like an upsampled PERFECT 160x120 res video to 320x240 at 15fps then a downsampled 640x480 res video at 320x240 7fps.
The quality of video UPSAMPLED would still be better then the DOWNSAMPLED one due to faster framerates and quality settings at PERFECT '1' in 160x120 before upsampling to 320x240.

Anyway, that my wish for this software and I beleive that it is possible with enough tweaking and work. Again, this is an amazing application that has increadible potential. Lets just sit and wait for the EYEMAIL people to do there thing and put out a perfect retail version baised on our testing and objective advice.

I read an N90 review that said Nokia had purposly 'nobbled' the camcorder feature of the 6630/80 so that it does not record as well as the N90, cheeky buggers, does this explain why eyemail can not produce 320x240 at 15fps whereas the N90 can do it and using the same hardware..

JF-GINO wrote:Hi Guys, Due to popular demand I have supplied ini files that work best for each version I have used : Beta, Retail and the new 6630 versions. These ini files are tailored to each version because each one has limitations with respect to buffer handling, video modes supported etc. For example, the Beta version supports a 320x240 resolution mode and the Retail version does not. Same with buffer size. Please also note that a Large buffer might result in an automatic shutdown of your phone. If you cannot restart properly, remove your battery & try again. Also, depending on the type of DVRSMMC you use, your results might differ in framerate and functionality. Each card (I think there are 14 types and over 9 different memory speeds) will react differently to these settings. Therefore, please do not get descouraged if the setting only yealds a 15.98FPS or 16.32FPS instead of 18FPS. I do gaurantee that you will have AMAZING video quality, perfect sound and faster then built-in camera FPS performance. Just play with the settings and you should get it the way I did. Also note: make sure you do not have alot of programs and tasks running in the background as they take up RAM space needed to pre-buffer.

I wish I could post my example videos, but Im limitied by the space allowed by this board.

Thanks guys, and happy camcordering........ Please post all of your results and comments as Im sure the EYEMAIL people would like to know,...

Hey GINO,

Im using your .INI (retail version), and I did here in my 6600 (my fw is 5.27):
EDIT MODE ==== 160x120 10fps at 53kbps
PC MODE====== 160x120 10fps at 43kbps
PHONE MODE=== 80 x 64 15fps at 20kbps

Is it normal and good? Cant I do better than that?

Any help?

Thanks a lot!! The program is really really great!!

Hi Adriano75,

Just read your results,
I personally think the 6600 can do better then the frame rates you have listed here, but Im sorry to say I have not used the 6600 before. I have an old 3650 but Im sure that it would perform even poorer. Please remember that the 6600 has a 'slower' proccessor then the n6630-80 & 81 phones. This might be the cause of the 10fps results you are getting. I suggest that you stick with the 'original' ini setting thresholds when tweaking for your 6600 as the program was designed for it to begin with. I only forsee results of 18fps on 66-series due to faster proccessor speed and higher camera resolutions making hardware buffering better.

BTW, just to let you guys know, I think that the actural hardware in the 6630 camera is only capable of 15fps. Anything else we get from it might be 'REDUNDENT' frames, but looks more SMOOTH. The EYEMAIL Programmers would know the real answer for sure, but I have looked at my 18fps files FRAME by FRAME and every frame seems to be different.......... Hmmmmm.

Also, willbrady - indeed nokia are a bunch of sneaky folk!, What you have quoted in your post is true. The N90series phones where on the drawing board at the same time as the n66-series. As for figuring out the 'Nobbled' abillity of the 6630 etc. we will leave that up to the programmers, but I think its software / OS related. Hardware is capable, but dumbed down in software. Oh well,.....

You Are Right the Ini files Wont Make Much Of A Difference the Eyemail Makers Have to Come Up With And Updated Version Cause They Did A Superb Job In Creating this Application And I Think We Are Close Seeing A 320x240 Recording On 15 Fps. I Really Dont Give A Damn About The Audio But I really Want To See That 15fps On 320x240 And I Am Sure Nokia 6630 Is powerful Enough To Producing It. eye Mail Team Just have to put their thinking caps on and come up with an updated version soon... Well Thanks to them one more time for creating this wonderful Peace Of Software

Well, at least the effort seems good, as long as there are people out there working in doing something to improve the camcorder quality.

I was gonna ask, how come we haven't yet seen a camcorder software for nokia 6630/6680 to record in mpeg format?

Well thats a good question, acturaly, the 6630 can play back an mpeg1 video, but remember, an mpeg video takes alot of proccessing power to Encode in real time. You would need a Hardware baised Mpeg encoder chip to do it fast enough. The phone would have to run at about 600mhz with alot of RAM to do so in real time.
Back in the late 90's I had a pentiumII 500 that could not even encode mpeg in real time, I had to capture in AVI and then convert to mpeg. (unless you got an mpeg capture card)

Mpeg4 and divx-xvid codesc are fast and mathematicly not as dependent on CPU power as they are codecs that where designed for 'INTERNET BAISED' applications (Size vs Quality vs Speed Etc.)

i Was Getting good Fps And Smooth Videos From The Beta Version Of Camcorder Fps like 18 ,,25 What Improvement I really got In this 6630/6630 Version Is A Bit Clear Videos But Fps Really Dies And thats Make The Video UnEnjoyable. MAn i Hope thay Come Up With 15, to 18 fps on 320x240 Custom2.

The city was incredibly serene, thanks to SARS, and I finally had the time to learn how to program Symbian and write that piece of software I had wanted to write all along for my then spanking new Nokia 7650 -- a camcorder that does not quite after 10 seconds. A month later the ETI Camcorder was born.

Long story short, I tried to market it but could not support it -- 70,000 downloads a month is more than I could handle in my spare time. Not wanting to annoy my customers, I shut down the Handango account and handed the product over to a Beijing-based retailer. ETI Camcorder was officially gone.

Much has changed in two years. Almost all mobile phone camcorders are doing this "unlimited recording" thingy, and offering an UI with instant-on view finder and non of those "New Recording", "Save Recording" non-sense. You don't really need ETI Camcorder anymore.

But is there room for a better camcorder program? I thought so. Thus, after two years, I give you Camcorder2 -- a completely re-written, faster, prettier, and above all much more fun ETI Camcorder!

Since I'm no longer the sole creator/owner of this program, I cannot give you an exhaustive list of the features before the official release date (in the next couple of weeks we will start the Beta testing program. You are more than welcome to participate - just drop me a message here). However, I have managed to attach a couple of screenshots here for your viewing pleasure.

Some features I'm allowed to disclose:

- 100% faster MPEG-4 CODEC for much smoothier recording
- Themed recorder UI (user can create own theme too)
- 2x smooth digital zooming
- Output to standard DivX AVI
- 24/7 customer support, handled by full-time support specialists
and, more importantly --

THE SAME, UNBELIEVABLE LOW PRICE! Even better, legitimate owners of the old ETI can enjoy a 50% discount!

Okay, that's enough. I know I'm sounding more like marketing now 😉 Rest assured, I have not lost my programming skills, and those involved in creating this new version are all top-notch programmers. The software is still created by small group of people with love and passion -- the spirit never dies.

Stay tuned, my friends!

Sincere,

Gary

I have nokia 3650
will this beta version supported on nokia 3650?

I would like to hv it tested on my nokia 3650..

can u pl send it on my mail
e-mail:< [email protected] >

Which version of camcorder would u prefer for 6630 . The beta Version or the retail cause the retail version plays the video paused a second thats bugs me off . I hope they soon come with an update. Whats your thought of gettin quality videos and what ini settings in editing mode are best to get Quality videos with good Fps. pls help its a bit urgent

JF-GINO wrote:IMPORTANT!

dfdzgz,
I know why you guys are having problems with 6630 video in your program.

Wow, that's amazing! Thanks JF-GINO! I will surely forward the message to the developers!

hy, im new on this forum, thats my firs post. I`ve just installed ETI 2 on my 6600 and it works fine. Just wondering if i can obtain more than 160x120 and how to do it..and wats with the ini file, were can i get that?
PS how do i find out what firmware is my 6600?

any update on 320x240 Recording On 15 Fps. i really want the video to go smooth. dino is there any way u have found the video to run smooth.. pls do reply thanks

I`ve had a little problem! On my Phone I have installed SmartMovie. So if I take Video in PC /Phone/Editing Modus the files will be played with SmartMovie and not with the ETI Player. Thats OK, cause the files were played. But if I take a video in Custom 1 or 2 SmartMovie says that the files were too big!?
Also- sometimes the Programm uses the ETI Player and sometimes SmartMovie.

I'm not sure why SmartMovie cannot play back the file... but my guess is that SmartMovie probably is not able to decode MPEG-4 stream of that particular dimension.

Symbian uses a weird scheme to randomly choose which program to launch if more than one programs are associated with the same MIME type. That's why sometimes you get the ETI Player, sometimes the SmartMovie... In the next version I will probably embed the movie playback within the album instead of using a separate player... this ought to be able to solve this problem.

Audio in ETI CAMCORDER is in ACC codec, and ETI can play it. In SmartMovie Mp3 Codec installed. Thats why smart movie playback Eti videos with bugs and no sound...

That sounds great!!
Its a very good programm. Go on!!! :icon14:
I would like to write at the camcorder Forumpage on your side but it seems that there is no one registered....so I use this Forum!!! 😊
Sorry for my bad english!! 🙄

vorob, ETI camcorder 2 records audio in Microsoft ADPCM format!!
BTW, on PC videos are playing with bugs too...

As far as I can see, there's no version for Symbian OS 6 released yet. Will there be released a version supporting OS6 phones? (such as N36xx, 7650, Siemens SX1 & others)
I would really like to buy this app, but it doesn't work on my SX1...

what we really want is 15 fps in 320x240 Recording with audio that will do it for me. i am dying to see that in next update

By increasing the buffer size (following the instructions posted above) our own preliminary testings also showed dramatically increased performance (18fps or something like that)... We need to test it more thoroughly but if this indeed is real, my feeling is that we may be able to do a lot better in the next update. Anyway, rest assured we are working on this!

i am sure u ppl r working hard on this software and i am sure will get what we r expecting 18 fps on high resolution with nice audio and many more in new version i hope it comes out soon. pls keep us updating as we r following this page and ur product on daily basis..... thanks u

dfdzgz, but PLEASE, make a REAL 320x240 - not as in current version - resize from 160x120! 😞

People are really expecting much from the new version Cumin Out i hope & i am sure the new version wont disappoint us cause i was looking forward to purchase the 6630 version but was disappointed by the version i hope the new version fullfil all our requirements & i hope the new version comes out soon

when we will see the new version of the camcorder for 6630. Pls give us some update. Or start a forum where we can have the latest updates of this cool application. Thanks
