Costs in finland with different operators:

Sonera GPRS-basic: 0,0100 euro/kB = 10,24 euro/MB
Sonera Open Data: 6,10 euro/month (includes 1MB) + 2,3736 euro/MB
Sonera Pro Data: 18,30 euro/month (includes 10MB) + 1,7490 euro/MB
Radiolinja GPRS: 4,88 euro/month + 2,14 euro/MB
dna GPRS: 16,65 euro/month, unlimited (includes WAP too) 😃 (I have this) (10,60/mo)
dna WAP-GPRS: 4,90 euro/month, unlimited WAP-data
Telia Mobile Online: 5,00 euro/month, unlimited (thru end of 2002)

Interested in hearing how much do you have to pay.

Please include your network & country if you can 😃

Vodafone UK = Buy in MB's More you buy the cheaper it is, or you can go on a PAYG package. If your contact is less than say 30 per month then you go on the expensive tariff, if you pay more than 30 then you go on the cheap tariff. (Which isn't all that cheap)
First 2mb free, each mb afterwards is 3quid. o2, online 200
Wow, I would be bankrupt by now with those kind of costs.
My gprs usage stats between oct.8 - nov.13
Sent data:114Mb
Received:400Mb 😃

(Using my phone as modem)

Hi all,

I pay for Radiolinja's (Finnish operator) GPRS services 4.88 euros a month plus 2.14euros for each MB I transfer, as JyriK said a few posts up. I don't use it that much though, only to transfer ringing tones and some applications, and occational mail reading.

Going to sleep now 8)
Good night to you all! 😊

I have broadband and work from home for four days a week. The most I use GPRS for is IM+ and a bit of email. So...2mb is plenty. 😊

In Austria they are horrible:

Stats of my provider: Connect Austria ONE: 10 for 10 MB web, no WAP included, 0.20 for 10KB wap, 2 for 1 MB additional web (that makes up 20 for 1MB wap!!!!!!1111).

Best Provider: Telering: about 15 for 20 MB web or wap, 0,80 for 1 MB web or wap, but the rest of charging at this provider is horrible. I already considerd getting two contracts, one for gprs, one for calls.

Currently I'm using CSD for Dataservices, of course it's charging depends on time, but it's yet far cheaper. Big mistake, imho.

in singapore,singtel charges 100kb for 40cents sg.so 1mb for $4.
really xpensive cos ppl like mi actually use up a lot of gprs network monthly.
sighhhhhhh.....

here in the philippines, Globe Telecom charges FREE on gprs from now... i dont know when they will charge but when you use your 7650 as a modem that would not come in cheap price! it will cost you P0.50/kb ($0.01) is that cheap??? in a minute it will cost you $10.24/MB over pricing or not???

Here in Australia.... with Vodafone

Pay as you go $0 0MB* 2c/KB*
My Data 15 $14.95/month Up to 1MB* 1.8c/KB*
My Data 30 $29.95/month Up to 5MB* 1.6c/KB*
My Data 70 $69.95/month Up to 12MB* 1.2c/KB*

I US$ = 1.9 Au $ ( Aprrox)

I should say..one of the most expensive :x

I'm getting royally shafted by Orange (UK).

It costs

8/mb (works out at about 8p/k or 12 cents/k (US) )

You have to sign up for at least 0.5mb for 4.00 and its a complete rip off. I effectively have only 16k per day I can use before the costs spiral out of control. -?

I wish we even have GPRS in the first place! It's funny how everybody here buys GPRS phones and nobody gets the chance to use them 😃

I'm gettin screwed by Orange UK

0.5mb 5
5mb 15
10mb 25
15mb 30
30mb 47

Incredibly they couldnt tell me what i would be charged if i went over my 5MB!!

OMFG!!! the Orange pricing 😞((( double*sigh*. You know guys, were the first in line to use gprs, and thats why we pay for it so horrid sums. You might remember the days when the first 300baud modems came out. Well try to leech 6Megs with it with minute-payment method. I still know people who had to sell their computers, cars etc. to pay for the BILLs from the phonecompanys. lol. :black: btw, im using RL in finland, thats 2/MB approx. hrrrrrr. Im just sad DNA is so lousy when we go into woods here in Funland, it works ok in towns. i live in the woods. 😊

mrC64=

Orange France: 6 for 10 MB - that's about 4. Not too bad after looking at the others, but the only problem is not all ports are open, and no web access point for using webviewer 😞

Here in Holland with Ben you have three options:

Monthly 0 + 29/mb
Monthly 5 + 5/mb
Monthly 15 + 1/mb

I'm really getting f*cked here!

For those people on Orange here, in the UK, there is a better deal for GPRS.

Rather than just telling Orange that you want GPRS, you must ask them for the "Orange Access Pack". Ask for it by name.

The minimum Orange Access Pack gives you 10Mb for 4. Some of the customer services people don't seem to know about it. If they don't, politely ask them to ask someone about it. If you still don't get them agreeing to the package, hang up and call again, thus speaking to someone else. On their website, it even says that you get the 1st month free, but when I phoned I was told it was the 2nd month.

Either way, this does exist, but ask specifically for the "Access Pack".
Hope that helps 😉

I guess we are the cheapest in ORANGE IL.
we pay:

2$ a month - for unlimited wap access
OR:
5$ a month - for first 5MB and then every additional 100KB for 4 cents, and unlimited wap access.
OR:
10$ a month - for the first 100MB and then every additional 100KB for 2cents, and unlimited wap access.
OR:
30$ a month - for the first 300MB and then every additional 100KB for 2cents, and unlimited wap access.

I personally own the 100MB package and i dont get to more than 30MB so i guess it's unlimited for me.

Here the points from the Spanish Jury

No strings attached
Movistar 0,024 euros per kb.
Vodafone 0,020 euros per kb
Amena 0,020 euros per kb

Tiny string attached
Amena offers 0,0075 euros per kb, for a 1,5 euro monthly charge.

Small Volume Flat fees
Movistar 1MB = 6 euros
Vodafone 2 MB = 10 euros
Amena none in this category

Medium Volume Flat fees
Movistar 20 MB = 30 euros
Vodafone 20 MB = 30 Euros
Amena 10 MB = 15 euros.

This is only a partial picture, there are a series of discounts running and a few other mechanisms, but roughly speaking I would say that Spanish operators are close, if not neck and neck, on GPRS prices.

The one issue not highlighted here is roaming. It could be a significant advantage to some people. Vodafone GPRS roaming is known to work in its sister companies as well as Sonera. A small cost (1 euro) is usually involved. I don't know on which basis this is charged however.

Merlin, Have you signed up to the Access pack, and can you use normal GPRS through it? Do apps like IM+ work through the Wap GPRS connection?

This is from the terms and conditions on the Orange website.

Orange Access pack
The Orange Access pack You subscribe to will depend on the technology your phone uses to access WAP. If You have a GPRS enabled phone You should request Orange GPRS Access pack. If You do not have a GPRS enabled phone You should request an Orange CSD Access pack. You are only allowed to subscribe to one Orange GPRS Access pack and/or one Orange CSD Access pack per account in any one billing cycle. You may request to cancel your Orange Access pack at anytime by giving at least five days notice before your billing date. Any changes You make to your Orange Access pack will take effect from your next billing date. Any unused Orange Access pack will not be rolled over to the following month. Orange Access pack can only be used to access Orange WAP sites while in the UK and will require the use of a WAP enabled phone. Orange GPRS Access pack is subject to a fair usage policy of 10MB. Subscribers exceeding this limit may be charged at the Orange Your Plan rates. Orange CSD Access pack is subject to a fair usage policy of 200 minutes. Subscribers exceeding this limit may be charged at the Orange Your Plan rates.

Many thanks

Damn,

Just noticed that the Orange 0.5mb/month bundle includes both sent and received data. I guess that means that instead of getting 0.5mb a month to download, it is actually only 250kb or maybe 300kb.

What a complete rip off. Orange must be screwing their customers (and that includes me cry ) worse than anyone else

Radiolinja Estonia
approx. 6.5 euro (100 estonian krons) - unlimited wap and internet.

Sorry to dissapoint users of Radiolinja in Suomi

Haha 😃 good one.
Quite cheap indeed.

Ok..here's a new country for you guys.
MTN here in South Africa (Yes..we have the 7650 😊 )
Equivalent of $5/month gives me up to 2MB. Small charge per meg after that. Working well for email.

Bertie, no I haven't signed up for it. The main reasons being that firstly, when I phoned up about it, it was in the middle of my billing month. Since you need to track how much you download yourself, I thought I'd wait until the beginning of the month.

Secondly, I've been thinking about whether or not I really need it, especially considering that I'm pretty much always near on-line computers (working with them all day!) I think I may phone up and get them to give me the first month free, as advertised on their web site. That way, if I don't use it, I can cancel it without having incurred any costs.

As for IM+, if it works via the wap gateway, then I would think you can use it with the GPRS provided by the access pack. I don't use IM+ for the same reason that I'm always on-line with ICQ/Trillian.

Hope that helps 😉

with optus in australia it is $0.02 per Kilobyte in peak and $0.01 in off-peak. So I dont use it very much.

I don't know what the conversion rates are between me and euro $
