Tom Tom Mobile 5 FIXED on N70!!

I have an Apapt300 GPS receiver. Is there still no solution for this problem? It will drop my connection also at random times. I have no POI installed and the pairings deleted in de N70 bluetooth menu itself.

Hey People,

Just to let y'all know, I solved all my problems.

Tried connecting the BT-77 to laptop via dongle. It connected, but only for 10 seconds. So it seems it was faulty anyway. Sent it back, but instead of getting a replacement, I just got the 32 channel BTGPS74R aka Holox BT-321.

Now...TTM5 runs perfect. Initially, the GPS didn't lock on. But now it does so quite fast, and on the dash, has 5 or more nearly full signal bars. Even with camera database (single filed - haven't bothered with multi speed zoned etc) it's fine...no dropouts or anything...touchwood. Also, I'm on V5 firmware. Your's should be fine after upgrading the N70 to this firmware.

I definately owe you a beer Nibbz...

I'm running Tom Tom 5.2 on Nokia N70 with BT77 receiver. Crashed all the time ! I surfed the tech support of Nokia, Tom Tom etc etc., even sent message to Nokia technical support but no reply yet. I nearly returned my GPS receiver to the shop yesterday as I was so convinced that was causing the problem due to incompatability. However after following your instructions I've just tested my sat nav on a 2 hour run with the kids.... it works FERFECTLY... I can't even deliberately make it crash by receiving / making calls, messing with setting and menus etc.

Thanks Mate.

Nibbz wrote:Dont know if this has already been mentioned regarding TomTom loosing bluetooth connection.
It seems TomTom manages its own paired bluetooth devices and in some cases will conflict with those devices already paired by the phones manager.
The best way to pair bluetooth devices when using TomTom to prevent loss of connectivity when using Nokia N70 is:

Delete all bluetooth devices in the phones connectivity manager. Start TomTom.
Use TomTom's manager to pair the device.
Exit TomTom.
Open the phones connectivity manager and you may see the GPS device listed.
Delete this device again.
Start TomTom and you will notice that the GPS device still exists. Pair this device and TomTom should work fine, no disconnections.
***You must delete the device after pairing for the first time in the phones default connectivity manager***
Obviously if the device exists in 2 seperate connectivity tables, there must be either a conflict or a problem sharing the device.

Try this and let me know if you have any joy.
I used to get disconnected every 10-15 minutes. Since doing this, no more loss of connectivity.

This worked for me, running for 2 hours without problems.
Funny, is - i deleted the bluetooth adapter in nokia pref.
But it worked first time with TomTom, without TomTom asked for a connection
- and its not comming back in pref.

TomTom 5.20 and Firmware 3.x partially sove the problem

I got my phone firware updated to 3.x (5.x is not available for Orange phones yet sic!), upgraded to TomTom 5.20

Before it was impossible to use TomTom, it was loosing the connection after 5-15 minutes after starting and I needed to turn off and on bluetooth to regain it.

Now just after the upgrade I made a 16 hour trip and there was NOT EVEN A SINGLE PROBLEM.

BUT

on the way back home I experienced several problems, the connection was lost an I needed to research for the bluetooth device but still it works better, the connection does not "hang" in the air but is just lost and sometimes it takes only a few second of searchong to regain it.

Interesting that on the 16 hour trip just after upgrading TT was also regulalrly loosing connection but it manages to regain it within a few seconds

Hi!
i've tried to find the connectivity manager on my N70 but i've not....
I've the same problem... my tomtom disconnect in 5~15 minutes...
what i've to do?

i've cancelled all the entry in the associated devices, in the bluetooth menu...
but....

please help

tnx

I got an N70 just over a week ago and then installed tom tom 5 , same problems with dropping b/t connection after 10 mins or so . anyway been reading this forum and messing about with lots of things for a week - nothing really helped , so went to Cygnet Comms ( Nokia service centre ) in Preston at weekend with my Vodafone branded N70 , they updated it and its now got a new vodafone firmware V 5.0609.2.0.1 01-03-06 RM-84 FREE OF CHARGE , i still have vodafone menus , extras etc , and now N70 and Tom Tom work great , if B/t signal is lost it reconnects in less than a minute and i went on a 90 minute drive to cheshire on sunday using it solely to navigate , never dropped out once there or on way back .

Perfect so the point of all this , Vodafone f/w for N70 is now on V5 people ......

Hello!!
The tomtom it goes in crash when they become part poi in the folder of the map. The solution in order to use however poi is to insert poi in the poi.dat in the folder of the map!
In order to make it it must use a program in Italian who calls "GestPOI.DAT v.1.20"
The found ones here: http://www.krakkato.com/content/view/27/55/

In this way they can be used poi without that the smartphone it goes in crash! The important is that not there are files ov2 and bmp in the folder of the map!

Excused to my English I is Italian! : D
Google gives one hand to me! hello to all!

Hi
Is this software only available in italian? I have trouble installing this, can't find the program after the installation procedure has completed. Any kind soul willing to modify my poi.dat file with additional POI's?

Unfortunately the language is alone in Italian.... volunteers for translations in other languages well are accepted! 😃
Find the program in "start-->programs-->GestPOI.DAT by JaCK-->gestpoi.dat.exe" or "c:\program files\Gestpoi.dat\GestPoi.dat.exe"
With the program it modifies the poi.dat original: insert new poi's or delete categories existing. 😉

bye

Now the server is avaible and link not broken! 😉

I'm the creator of GestPOI.DAT...
Unfortunately I don't speak English... I speak only Italian... If there is something available to translat the guide and the program, the future version will be available in more languages... English, Spanish, French ect.
Sended a message in order to contribute to me ! ;D

This version is available in english, french and italian!
The languages of installation is in italian...
Once installed, you will be able to select Italian, French or English language for both interface and "How To use" sections.

Hi All
I have upgraded my software to the latest version 5 of vodafone software and with no bmp or ov2 files in the map directory the system is rock solid. As soon as I add any poi's then I get the same problem everyone else does on here so the problem is clearly with the poi's.
I have logged a call with tomtom but as soon as you mention third party poi's they dont want to know.
I have downloaded the new version of gestpoi (1.3) and managed to create a new poi.dat.
The problem I have and I guess every one else is that the poi file will only list items on the tomtom itself based on a code number that is listed in the poi.lst file within the poi.dat. Whilst it mentions the name of the category in this file is doesnt appear to actually use it.

So this means I can't actually add my list of 5 speedcam ov2 files with a proper name in the tomtom menu. The only way I can get this to work is to add the ov2 to an existing catorgory such as tennis courts. (which is very confusing)

If you play with the poi.lst and change the numbers then they disaapear all together off the menu. I notice that in the poi.lst it mentions the zip code catagory yet in the tomtom menu (for the UK) it lists it as postcode so this could prove the theory that there are different codes for different countries.

So here's the question....Am I doing this all wrong or does anyone have the list of codes against category names?

I am not sure if there are any for speedcams though as even when you buy these from tomtom directly they inform me they just use ov2 and bmp files.

Best Rgds

Hi All,

I manage to solve the problem with TomTom 5 dropping the connection with GPS via bluetooth

It took some time. First of all I upgraded TomTom to 5.20, than I upgraded Firmware in N70 to 3.x than, as it did not work, I upgraded to 5.x but still no hope 😞

TomTom 5.20 + N70 5.x did not solve the problem,

ONLY: removing POIs solve the problem. After disabling all POIs I manage to have 10 hours drive with no single connection drop!!!!

My GPS is Pretec Datalogger GPS and I worked 100% problemfree with 6680 and 6600 only N70 started to have problems but hopefully disabling POIs helps
