ok ive found nss so i can change the product code

1 question when installing nss what option do i choose for the type of flasher?

Can anybody of the Gurus tell me where on my phone I can without doubt find that my phone is an internet edition or not.
V4.0632.0.38 13-10-2006 RM-92 Nokia N80(02)

Just a note that I didn't have to change my product code to do mine. It just offered up the latest firmware and the result is all the extra stuff the Internet Edition has, so I assume I'm IE now.

It did take a very long time to do because I did a full backup (just the phone memory) using Content Copier, did the update which wiped everything and didn't do any backup/restore, then restored with Content Copier which restored most things but didn't do all the apps. Had to then reinstall a bunch of apps.

yep if you have a generic n80 it gets the n80ie upgrade. if you have one thats network customised you have to change the product code, either to the n80ie or to the generic (as i did)

Hi,

Can someone please help me out....

i have the following

V 4.0623.0.42

RM-92

Nokia N80 (33.01)

product code 0535063

its branded O2 and wa supplied by O2 on a contact in the UK.

does anyone know what i need to do to upgrade it to a n80ie, i have been reading all the posts but i have got a little confused of what i need to do and i really don't way to damage the phone as its the best phone i have ever had...

Thanks in advance

Z😊

ERM,

dowload Nokia Software Updater, or PC Suite 6.82.27.x and use that to check for new software using the UPDATE PHONE SOFTWARE option.

If it tells you there is no update its because O2/Your service provider havent allowed the upgrade so you'll need to download NSS from somewhere (check links in earlier posts) and change your product code to a generic one and then try again with NSU, and that should upgrade you to IE.

I`ve just bought a second hand N80 which was locked to 3 but is now unlocked and is being used on Vodafone. I think I`ve just upgraded the firmware following a video from Truphone. The firmware now shows v4.0623.0.41 but I don`t have an internet folder just a "search" icon which seems to want to connect to the internet. Being new to this phone (I only got it today) I`m not sure if I now have an N80ie or not

You can try to use nss to see if they have the IE version which they should. I used nss to change product code and then updated but that was before the IE software that was given to n80 orginal phones.

Tried using NSS but don`t really understand it. I just get an error message with the phone connected to the PC

maybe someone can help if you give a little more info... like what the error message says and when it appears?

I don`t get an error message as such. If I click on the "Phone info" icon and then click on "scan" or "read" in the bottom left hand corner it just says error after a couple of seconds. The main window is empty. The software doesn`t seem to find the phone.

Ok, I have been reading this thread about updating your Nokia N80 phone FW and trying to revive a bricked phone using Phoenix.

I have tried to update my N80 phone but during the installation and update process the whole thing stalled and now my phone is bricked!
Now I am in the same boat as WPKenny. I need AAS help!!! I am mainly interested with the revival of BRICKED phones using Phoenix particularly with N80's. I followed WPKenny instructions but Phoenix is still unsuccessful (WPKenny, I need your input on this one). My phone is connected via USB. Connection has been established via USA confirmed thru the connection status window (bottom right corner). I have "Opened Product" N80-92 (also seen thru the Product window at the middle bottom). But when I did a SW Update a "No Product" shows up. I am I doing this right?>?

I followed what WPKenny did, wiggling the connection, opening and closing SW Update window even leaving the phone connection alone but with no success. I have read in this thread that an older version of Phoenix has a dead-phone option, is that true? My question is, what version would that be and would that work for newer Nokia phones, i.e., N80? I installed phoenix_service_sw_2006_20_9_148.exe version in my PC (XP) and applied all the dongles. Would this version revive my N80? Can some one guide me thru the process, the HOW-TO's on what I need to do? I want to know too, what other options I have other than brining my phone to a NSC.

TIA!!!😊

SpeTz wrote:Isnt nokia offering free IE firmware without the product code changing now?

They are, but only if your phone is not a branded one, eg "3" or "Orange". That's why many are using NSS to change the product code from a branded N80 to an unbranded N80 which can then get the latest firmware.

Branded phones are stuck with the firmware that Nokia have agreed with the network operators until such time as the operator approves an upgrade. Which may be a long time or may be never seeing as how most if not all (at least in the UK) have stopped selling the N80.

Can anyone help me unlocking my N80?

I have the operator code to unlock it, but I tried more than allowed times with wrong codes. :con?

Will flashing the device help me with this? I tried flashing with nokia official software but didn't work. Should I try anything with Diego or Phoenix? Does anyone know how to get this programs? The links in the begining of this thread didn't work for me: files corrupted.

If anyone can help, post here or MSN me at [email protected]

Thanks in advance!

did you get the code fro the orignal provider of that phone?

or off internet?

what do you mean you cant update via NSU? what happends?

I got the code from the provider, and I updated ok with NSU, but before I get the code I has already tried too many wrong codes, and my phone is locked even to the right code. Is there a cable solution?

Can I change NSS number and update to a firmware that is not sim locked?

Question - if NSU fails part way through, and phoenix doesn't seem to work, am I bricked?

All the PC sees now when the phone is plugged in is an "unknown device" (it is a functional unknown device) with a report from windows that the device is malfunctioning,
