yeah, so like I said, I wasnt sure why you'd downgrade, but that is a valid reason if it worked before your upgrade.
RE the # changing profiles. Thats all it does in realtion to profile changing. It can change between alpha and numeric in text mode too tho.
kontraband wrote:If you check the begining of this thread you should see that you can upgrade without the use of Diego etc and just use NSS and NSU... which many can testify to being a safer route to upgrade. Also make note that you can actually downgrade should you need to, tho why you would Im not too sure. There are a few users on the forum who have downgraded once upgraded the f/w 😊
I upgraded with success. I am now proud owner of an N80ie after sweating and shaking through the NSU update
I see the Internet Menu and firmware is now

hi guys -
Just wandering, i couldn't find it anywhere else by searching -
What is Nokias strategy with the N80/N80ie? in future will all N80s be forced to upgrade to the N80IE through the NSU, or are they going to keep them separate?
Anybody know?
Thanks!

Hi
When installing NSS it gives you 4 options of what type of device you will be using. Which one do you choose?

your 632.38 is IE. Congrats! 😊
I chose the top (default) one and it worked fine
Thanks. My N80 is now N80ie 😊
I couldn't get NSS to work on my pc so I setup a virtual machine with VMWARE and it worked fine then.
Still no Chinese for N80IE huh?

Hi there -
i upgraded my N80 to the N80IE successfully, and have been using it fine for a few days - after using the wireless for a while this morning trying to set up fring and Gizmo, i noticed that the call and hangup (red/green) buttons no longer did anything, i don't know if this was as a result of the upgrade or not - so i switched the phone off and on again to reset it, now it doesn't turn on again - it just says nokia on the screen and does nothing - the backlight comes on if you push any buttons but nothing happens -
I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, and starting it in safe mode - neither works, anyone experienced this or has any suggestions urgently??? i'm a bit worried!!
Thanks!
i upgraded mine via phoenix to IE, i used hong kong product code, everything is fine for me so far, but i just cant tell the diffences xD
so could some1 plz explain the diffences to me? ^^
and also holding the # key doesnt change my profile to silent =.=
Hello everybody.. first time poster and member since 2003, and i finaly have a question that i cant find an answer to elsewhere on the forum 😊
What code should i use to get the swedish keysets ? should be EURO 3 but when i use EURO3 Black edition and update from NSU i get some region 6 with english and eastern europe keyset .. also tried all 3 other EURO x Black edition.. thought i should ask before i have to do this 3 more times(trying the pearl ones) with 3 more risks of bricking the phone =)
[EDIT] aaaand i should get my glasses on.. as there are Scandinavia codes there in the list 😃
don't know if it's me or what. I have done the NSS code change on my own N80 and did successfully upgrade to N80IE. did this maybe last month.
Doing the same to another phone again.. this time, NSU asks me to upgrade to a newer version (prev was 1.2.3) ver 1.3.2 and no matter what code I change to, it tells me there is no Updates for my phone!
I suspect Nokia folks are lurking in here and did a quick patch to change the way the logic of NSU works.
Can anybody else confirm this? Please let me know what NSU version you are on and what code you used to do the upgrade. thx!
I used NSS to change my product code to EURO1 0539363 EMEA and then NSU to upgrade the firmware and that went ok but now every time i turn on my phone i have to renter the time and date.

i used NSS ver 1.0.38.3 (the one in the link in teh first post), and NSU ver. 1.3.20en.
I tried all the EURO codes and at last the one i needed (Since i didnt see it at first) the pearl black SCANDINAVIAN code and it told me only the first time that it was new firmware to download.. the other times it said that i could reinstall, and a reinstall changed the avail. languages each time i ran the NSU, so just let it say "no new upgrade", check the checkbox and press start 😊

If you can upgrade via NSU then your warrante wont be void, but if you have to change your product code and then upgrade with NSU then that would void your warantee, if Nokia notice this of course ..

I am thinking this may be a hardware fault, I remember hearing somebody else with the same issue, the internal battery I think was faulty that keeps the memory..or something like that, I cant quite remember..
Ok. but this only happened after i converted from N80 to N80IE and i rand the diagnostics in NSS and it replied with success on the backup battery test

If you used NSS (or similar) to change the product code in order to fool NSU into upgrading to IE, then I believe the warranty IS void, but I could be wrong. 😉

Hey, i managed to fix my N80's time from resetting on restart. i just removed the internal battery from the phone's PCB. 😃

yea, this happens to me too, but i only have to enter the time n date IF i take out the battery, because i have 2 batteries, 1 is spare, so when 1 runs out, i just take it out and replace it with a full 1, and when i do that, i have to enter the time n date -.-''

Yes i've had this problem since upgrading - it's not a big issue, just a bit of an irritation. It only happens in some apps tho, not all of them
