I am pretty sure its not available to upgrade with NSU because its in the APAC firmware,
You can still upgrade with phoenix though to N80ie APAC..

Not sure about the memory, but I can have several things running at the same time and not notice a speed problem...

Yes! 😊 you have got the N80IE now. congratulations!
hello, and congratulations for this great forum and this fantastic community.
I have a problem, starting the phoenix prog (usual freeze of the splash screen),
i read the previous posts, adn tried to delete all the nokia related software and drivers before starting all the phoenix installation procedure, as you described.
The fact is that i cannot format my laptop, for several reasons, so the flashing solution over a clean XP copy is unfortunately excluded for me.
I also tried to run phoenix using XP safe mode (just an idea). The strange part is that phoenix worked, till the scan procedure, where it didn't found any phone. And on the n80 screen, the USB connected icon never appeared on safe mode.
Tried again running XP without startup and services items, but again, freeze! 🙄
I read here for the VMware server solution. Does it really work? also with phoenix?
Or somebody else can suggest me something...? I also read here that there are some issues relating XP MCE(which i've installed by default), and the Core 2 Duo processors... hope i don't have problem also with these 2!
Any suggestions, to help me out?
Thanxx
mmystery theres no need to use phoenix to flash ur phone, use nss to change the code and use nokia software updater to flash ur phone to IE
yes SpeTz,
i know, it would be perfect! But, neither NSU works, as when the program says "searching phone" or something, it just keeps like that for lots of time without doing anything, just "searching". Searching the phone that is properly connected to the pc, and PCSuite detects it. I tried all this NSS & NSU stuff before trying the phoenix method. of course for now i uninstalled NSS/NSU/Suite/drivers, to install the phoenix bundle.
Do you have any suggestions on how i can get phoenix working, OR the NSU properly, as mentioned above? Thanx again!😉
well uninstall anything that has to do with nokia pc suite and reinstall them and then press the get connected in pc suite, and then download the new versions of nss and it should work.

I had hell and all trouble getting the NSU method to work, but finally (with a lot of thanks to Cash, I got there in the end) What I had to do in the end, was uninstall pc suite, use the Nokia Cleaner to remove all traces, install NSS, install the standalone connectivity cable driver, use NSS as per instructions to change product code, install and run NSU and that finally did it. After 30 odd minutes of sweating like Jade Goody in a curry house, I was then the proud owner of a N80ie. I was then able to install PC Suite and get on with my life, hoping that I don't have to do anything like that again for a while.

WORKS!!!! YAYYYY!!!
I should uninstalled again everything, PLUS, something else i never noticed before on the Install/Uninstall Panel, a "PC Connectivity driver", nothing to do with Nokia on the first sight(Because the real one was above, and was already uninstalled),
but when clicked on the info, it shows "NOKIA"! lol, so uninstalled everything, and installed only the NSU software, as i already ran NSS a few days ago. and then worked all!
Faboulous,
thanks for your advice guys, and i wish to be an active member on this forum, i like all these stuff!:icon14:  :icon14:

Congrats on all who successfully converted their N80 to the IE version!! 😊
hey guys just updated my n80 to n80i ...thanks everyone for their help.......well i used euro 3 code.........now when i hold # key it goes to silent mode if pressed againg goes back to general.....its amazing.......thanks again
a normal N80 does that
not so great now huh
bbracer16valver wrote:a normal N80 does thatnot so great now huh
Well thats not exactly true, some N80's do that and some N80 have another function assigned to pressing the # key, it depends on the product code and firmware variant of your N80...
And when I press the # key on my N80i it doesn't switch between profiles, it activates alpha mode to make it easier for typing sip addresses
I think the N80i does both. It switches profiles on the standby screen, and switches the alpha mode when you're writing something. At least mine does.

Not mine, it just, it just changes to alpha mode on any screen ..

aye, thats how mine works.
I've a N80 in Portuguese Brazilian.
I was thinking if it worth to upgrade to N80i... but in english, since there's no brazilian Product Code available.
The phone run faster? The camera make better pictures? What's the real improvements (that have you noticed, not the changelog)?
Thanks.

The main difference is that the phone has built in SIP meaning VOIP is available.

This is a good one! Any other "real" improvement?
does this actually work? whats the success rate? I have just bought an N80 o2upgrade and would love to flash it to an N80ie
Cant seem to download some of the files you have posted, mainly phoenix/diego. but managed to find them on a torrent site only prob is would they be same versions you have posted or could i use them?
Well done to those who have successfully upgraded, would appreciate your comments, as it is all risky, i am new to this, mainly want to do it for gizmo sip, but wondering how many people have done it with success, and how easy the proceedure is, and whether the phone is recoverable if things go wrong.
Cheers
Be advised that you cannot go back once you go to the IE version.

If you check the begining of this thread you should see that you can upgrade without the use of Diego etc and just use NSS and NSU... which many can testify to being a safer route to upgrade.
Also make note that you can actually downgrade should you need to, tho why you would Im not too sure. There are a few users on the forum who have downgraded once upgraded the f/w 😊
why would you downgrade?!?
o yea i no it crashes every time i push 2# (for o2 credit!)
and at other times (for me at least 😞 )
also if i hold # it only changes between silent and genral
is there any newer IE firmware since
