N80 - N80i firmware upgrade guide

How long is a piece of string?

Nokia release firmware updates pretty much whenever they feel like it, nobody really knows other than Nokia - they may not even release another update.

I've upgraded to N80IE and for me it's mostly rock solid reliable. No random reboots, no lock ups, it just works as advertised. I switched from Sony Ericsson, I do like the N80, though it is much slower to operate than similarly featured SE models. Sometimes frustratingly so. YMMV of course.

WHEN WILL NOKIA UPDATE THIS FIRMWARE I WANA NO! 😡

I believe Nokia would willing to upgrade N80 - N80i if its possible as it did to all N80 upgrading to higher version. There are some user which upgraded theirs to N80i had problem on the green call button which I think is the answer to why they are not willing to do it. 🙄

Hello,
I want to relate my upgrade to N80ie

My N80 was :

V 4.0623.0.41
26-07-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (81.01)

Now it is:

V 4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (18)

with product code: 0533239 (Pt-BR language)

I got it just running NSU, without change product code.

But to be sure that's possible , i was to this Nokia page and entered my product code :

h**p://europe.nokia.com/A4305060

So i could see what upgrade (4.0632.0.38)was available to my product code .

SO i did the upgrade just running NSU, without changing PC with NSS.

If for your product code there isn't IE firmware, just change a product code usaing NSS to a value what has available IE firmware. Just be careful to choose a product code what has the language you use.

Hi All,

Can any one post new links for the update from N80 to N80ie cuz most of the links provided be Cash are dead...especially Pheonix, Diego, cracks, reaper etc..

Hello,

I've a N80 with Brazilian Portuguese too, but my product code is 0543269 (operator: Claro).
If I change the code to 0533239 as yours, I can upgrade to N80i, but everything is working fine?
I've heard people saying that the # key don't change between silent/normal modes after upgrading...
How your N80i is working after the upgrade? What operator do you use?

Thanks.

Product code changed to 0533239 (Portuguese Brazilian).
Upgraded using NSU.
Battery was on 50%, so NSU asked me to plug the charger.

Now I'm running:
V 4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (19)

To all n80 users!

Change back your product code and reinstall the n80ie firmware!

Nokia has release news that all n80 users can now upgrade to n80ie.

Is this a safe option? I would like to do this because of the waranty.

i was thinking about doing this the other day - so if we flash back to our original product code with NSS and use NSU to update/reflash the firmware, will it work?

Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking the same. Is it safe to change back to the original Product Code?
My product code was 0543269, and it don't have the V 4.0632.0.38 (N80i) release yet. I'm using 0533239 at the moment.

I assume it would be fine - i typed in my old original product code into the nokia site and it gave me the N80IE as the new upgrade firmware, so i gather the intention is to upgrade all N80s to the N80ie - i'm just keen to hear if someone else has done it successfully!

It has been done successfully. As i said, this has been released to all n80 users.
If u had followed this guide to change your product code to Euro 3, you can change back to whatever product code u had on ur phone and reinstall the
n80ie.
Also, it has also been tested that you can back to any product code you want and reinstall the firmware (due to different languages and themes)

But you'll presumably get all the other unwanted branding if you change the product code back? Don't think I could face having my orange phone back.

Ok
i'm new here and i wana get the N80ie thing going i was reading the thread but could not download the frimeware and the othere stuff

can some one please but it in a place that we can all get ??

also how can i know what is my product key now ?? every one is saying now that we dont need to change it ??

i have called nokia and thay told me 2 or 3 day's ago that my phone frimware is the latest and they dont know anything about N80ie ?? and there are no more updates or upgrades

anyway this is my phone info:

V4.0623.0.42
20-09-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (08)

i live in the United Arab Emirates if this helps

should i upgrade myself ??
if i do that . . . would i lose my warranty . . even if i keep my product key "what ever it is"

and in this case what are the new steps that i have to do ??

sorry but i have never flushed a phone but really need the VOIP option.
thanks everyone

firstrest wrote:But you'll presumably get all the other unwanted branding if you change the product code back? Don't think I could face having my orange phone back.

i presume that changing product code back to orange (/three etc) wont give the upgrade to n80i, until/ unless the operators approve it. as far as i can tell its the n80's with a generic product code that get upgraded to n80i.

Diego, cracks, reaper

rapidshare.com/files/5943056/...ack_reaper.rar

also

demonoid.com/files/detail...3503#file_list

it says i need to register to get on the site but registration is closed unless you have an invitation code anyone able to provide a me with a code

A big thank-you for your guide. I read it when you first posted it last year but only just re-flashed. I really should have done it earlier. My N80IE is now the phone I thought I was getting 7 months or so ago. Cheers.

i tried running ther updater again but it tells me its gonna reinstall the same verson

v-max, as far as I know you need to have a generic n80 to get the n80i upgrade on nsu. Is yours a branded one (e.g. is it a three, orange, voda etc?) whats the product code of yours? Mine was a three branded one so I changed the product code to generic first then I got the n80i upgrade.
