Not sure..I dont think there are security write options that I know, unless its something that 3 have done themselves..
ugh .. just to sound like a complete newbie, i downloaded, nss btw..i cannot install the drivers that come with nss.. I try to follow rjthe instructions that open in a webpage, but I dont get the opportunity to click "Have disk" because I have to select what type of hardware it is first. If choose "show all devices" it just crashes and doesnt list anything.
I've tried going to the folder right clicking on the inf and choosing install but that doesnt work either.
Any suggestions?!
Thanks again
(can I install nokia software and use that driver?)
juice21 wrote:Just upgraded to N80 ie thanks to eveyrone on this thread for all the easy to follow details. However I just have one problem now, after upgrading I can no longer connect with nokia pc suite software. I was able to with N80 firmware??
I removed pc suite plus all the drivers, downloaded the lastest version installed on my pc and still no luck.
My computer recognizes that a new hardware device has been found and then finds the appropriate drivers. But the pc suite software just says "No Phones Connected"
This problem is driving me insane.....any help would be appreciated
PS: This is a great site,
juice21, I had the same problem a few days ago before I upgraded my phone to n80ie. In my situation, the problem occurred after I installed NSS version 1.0.38.7.
I did the following things that solved the problem: uninstall NSS, uninstall Nokia PC Suite and uninstall Nokia Software Updater and a reboot of the system. After that I reinstalled Nokia PC Suite again and after that it worked again. Somehow I think NSS could have caused this problem, although it sounds a bit strange maybe. Anyway, after I reinstalled PC Suite, I did install another version (1.0.38.3) of NSS (the link is posted in the first post of this thread). With this version of NSS I did not have the problem anymore that Nokia PC suite couldn't detect my phone. However, till so far I am not really sure if really NSS was the problem... but these were the steps I did and these steps made it work again for me.
Besides this, did you maybe install some special USB drivers? Because I remember after I had installed NSS it did ask if I want to read more information about a possible installation of another USB driver. Did you do this? If yes, perhaps u need to find some method to remove this driver.
If my suggestion above didnt work, perhaps you could try to do a system restore (if you have Windows XP) and restore a system state which is a couple of days old when your Nokia PC suite was still working. After the system restore, maybe a reinstall of Nokia PC suite is needed as you have installed a newer version already of this software already.

i followed the steps and after clicking write, it does not complete and gives "write new values ... error"
any help ?
Did you check if NSS can even "see" your phone? For example, when you go to the PHONE INFO tab and press the SCAN button, do you see your IMEI code? Or when you click on the FLASH tab and press the SCAN button, does it read out your product code?
What I am trying to say here, is that you have to make sure first that NSS can see your phone, otherwise writing values would not be possible anyway.

You don't have to install the drivers that NSS suggest you after the installation. Only during the installation it asks u which USB driver you want. Here u have to check something called as a "virtual USB driver". After the installation is complete, NSS gives u information about how to install some other special USB driver... but you can just ignore this and you do not have to install this. All you need is the driver which is provided by Nokia PC Suite, which will be installed automaticaly after Nokia PC suite has detected your phone. Good luck!

Hi
after installing NSS, it did find out my phone, but from the phone info tab, when i click SCAN, it fails to read (and could not write as well). thats why im thinking, is there something i need to do ? to make it able to read/write ?
:frown:
Scan in the phone info tab was a problem for me too. But if you go to the flash tab and scan it seems to work OK. Also in order to write the new code to the phone you must make sure you tick the little Enabl box to the side of the product code. I'm also on 3 mobile and have upgraded to N80ie so it is possible.
sorry .. Ive updated using nss (code 0543922 ) i press the "write" button, it says done. I cright click the nss icon in the taskbar to exit and then load nsu but when i use nokia software updater it still says N80 RM92 no updates available.
so ive done something wrong. ive tried twice now but the same result.
please help 😞
If anyone still needs Phoenix service software and is having trouble downloading it, it has been uploaded on www.demonoid.com
direct link: http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/800331/?show_files=1&page=1&ref=1169983503#file_list
It includes:
BB5 Reaper.exe 1.54 MB
diego307/Nokia Diego 3.07 Sp2.msi 27.36 MB
diego307/Nokia Diego 3x Crack.exe 225.97 KB
Phoenix/Dongle Crack.exe 278.48 KB
Phoenix/Phoenix 2006 crack.exe 415.30 KB
Phoenix/Phoenix Service Software 2006.44.6.163.exe 98.80 MB
This is a Bit Torrent site so you will need a bit torrent client installed on your computer (I recommend uTorrent)
I think this is a more up to date version of Phoenix than the one we were all using a couple of months back to flash to N80 IE.
Hope this helps

i did click the enable option to write new product code (its stated in the guide)
so should i click the flash tab first, then scan ?
has anyone had this problem before and solved it ? let me know please !

If NSS has detected your phone, and you have entered the new code, and ticked the enable box, all you need to do is click "write", and this will write the new code, then use NSU to update the phone..
Hi,
Just flashed my phone successfully, I'm in New Zealand, and for some reason the APAC product code wouldn't work, so I used the EURO 3 code, ran Nokia's software update app, and have been making VoIP calls all afternoon
Cheers,
George :icon14:

I dont think APAC is on the Nokia update site yet, just Euro at the moment ..

and it gives me, error and does not complete the process
also, if i scan for info, in Phone Info tab, it cant get any info and gives the same error.

Sorry, I dont know what else to suggest then, maybe try on another computer, I know that some people had problems and after a fresh install of windows were able to upgrade ok ..
Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the info on updating the N80. Being in Australia i couldn't upgrade it since the apac one isn't available yet so i inserted the Euro 1 code and all is good :icon14: . One question though, i was wondering what languages are supported on the Euro 2 and 3 codes.
Thanks 😊
Has anyone flashed a 3 phone? And does it work properly on the 3 network afterwards?
Xalen wrote:Has anyone flashed a 3 phone? And does it work properly on the 3 network afterwards?
Yes, 3 phones have been flashed successfully and work ok..
After trying several times, i have successfully flashed my N80 to N80i
Thanks to Cash and all the others for your very helpful support and information, i really appreciate your efforts.
Just one thing, after restoring my phone from the back up, i lost the new folder settings (ie, internet), i can make one though, but just thought i should ask if it is normal or not !
also, can i use GPRS (3G) in making calls using Truphone ?
thanks and regards

Yes, for some reason when you do a restore you loose the internet folder, its mentioned on the Nokia site somewhere also .
As far as I know you can use Truphone with 3g, but I have only tried over wifi ..
You may also want to install fring if you already didnt, it allows you to use skype, you can run the 2 apps at the same time ..
Sifti
Can you let us know what the problem was as how you sorted it as it may be usefull to others having the same problem.

i was having problem in writing the product code, although i followed the steps as written, but NSS was failing to write in the end, giving error.
so i kept trying, i dont actually know what helped, i restarted my laptop few times, tried pluggin in N80 before running NSS and also after running NSS, and in the end it was succcessful to write the code.
so i would suggest, keep trying till you succeed 😃
😎 😎
i did mine but seams like this IE FW the Volume is very low (even if i use maximum volume)on the headset comparing with the generic one😡
nutzu wrote:i did mine but seams like this IE FW the Volume is very low (even if i use maximum volume)on the headset comparing with the generic one😡
Did you check your equaliser settings of the music player? If the profile "soft" is selected, the volume is really soft.... But if you chose another profile, like default, bassboost or rock, the volume is very loud again. I think it's even louder than the previous N80 firmware I had. But what dissapointed me is that the quality of the music player is much worse! Before (when I had the normal N80 firmware) I had a very good bass when I listened with the normal nokia headset, but now when I have the N80ie software, the bass is very weak....... 😡
Did anybody else discover the same problem?

yeah, Id check your settings, by sounds is definately louder on the new f/w! I dont even want the ring tones on LOUDEST! 😊

About 2/3 of the way down sure enough "You may use the Nokia Software Updater to update your Nokia N80 to the Internet Edition to gain access to these new features."
If you search for how to do it (as they suggest) the site comes back with a big fat blank though.
Think if I print this out it'll cover me for my warranty, should I need to make a claim? I mean the address is europe.nokia.com so although I found this page from the USA site it would suggest that it applies to lil old me here in the UK...
What do you all think?
yeah. why not... did you fill in the 'was this useful to you', cause apparently Nokia VALUE YOUR FEEDBACK?!?!?!
