Let me explain what i have done, when i got the errors device drivers signing error, i have installed it clicking "continue anyway", after that it failed with registring the "context.dll & scriptcontext.dll".

I unintalled everything and restarted my machine (nokia, phoenix, Degio, TSS API, FLS Drvies, Nokia Connectivity Cable,DKu-5 cable Drivers) and deleted the left out stuff of the nokia folders from "c:\program files\common files\nokia & c:\program files\nokia" and ran the winxp manager for cleaning registry for invalid dll references and invalid program files it showed up some registry entires for the Phoenix & TSS API's i gone through each and every one inthe registry and proceed with winxp to remove them. Once again i restarted my machine and searched for all the nokia, phoenix, Degio, TSS API, FLS Drvies, RM-92 EMEA data package, in the registry and folders to make sure my machine is clean from every thing. i have stopped the Secirity Clients that i have on my machin (zone alarm ) defore doing this all so that i doesn't restrict some thing to get installed.

but still after doing all these i am not able to succed, afte getting this error i am able to open the phoenix and registed with a username and i can detect my phone and all, but if i proceed with flashing will it suceed thats what i am afrid of.

Thanks for helping me.
waiting for some one to diagonise and get back to me.

Hi, I know what you are talking about, since I got the exact same error messages, failing to register those two DLL's.

I went ahead and flashed anyway, and it worked just fine !!! 😊

I checked for the two DLL files and they were installed in the Phoenix catalogs..

Good luck!!! 😊

Can you let me know where can i find weather those ddl's where acutally registered or not, how to check them as you said that you checked for the 2 dll's that were installed in phoenix catallogs, and plese let me know to which code you have flashed i will proceed, i am using Windods XP home edition.
Thanks in advance.

hi i would like to upgrade to N80i but can anyone tell me, does tom tom 6 still work?
I have a legal version and use it regularly. can anyone confirm this works?
thanks

Hi,

This guide is great, I upgraded my to APAC Australia firmware and now I got N80ie 😊..but I got a little dilemma, the chinese language is no longer available on the phone, how can I upgrade to the Hong Kong APAC ver?

For anyone waiting for the official NSU upgrade to be made available you may have a long wait. The official line from Nokia UK is as follows :-

Thank you for contacting the Club Nokia Careline.

With regard to your email concerning the Nokia N80, we can advise that
its is not possible to upgrade the N80 to become an N80ie as the
handset are similar but fundamentally different handset altogether.

Please don't hesitate to contact us again if you have any further
questions.

With best regards
UK & Ireland Team
Nokia Helpline

I replied as follows :-

In response to your reply stating that the N80 and N80ie are fundamentally different I would refer you to your US web site which states :-

Q: What is the difference between the Nokia N80 and the Nokia N80 Internet Edition?

A:
Nokia N80 Internet Edition

The differences between the Nokia N80 and Nokia N80 Internet Edition are added features for Internet capabilities as well as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). There are no hardware differences between the two Nokia devices.

I would also point out that they also state

Q: How do I update my Nokia N80 to the Internet Edition?

A:
Nokia N80 Internet Edition

You can update your Nokia N80 to the Internet Edition by using the Nokia Software Updater.

This would seem to be the complete opposite to your reply. Can you explain or is it just that Nokia UK does not want to allow users to upgrade to N80ie for free as I suspect.

I will post their reply if and when I get it but in the mean time dont hold your breath for an official NSU upgrade!!!!!

Perhaps all who read this should contact Nokia and point out the error of their ways!

Hmmm...more Bull from those friendly guys at Nokia.....I wonder if there is any legal requirements for them to answer a direct question like this with the truth,

We all know that the N80ie firmware works with the N80, and that there is no-one that I know who has said that the IE firmware damages or impedes the way in which the N80 works after flashing, in fact the exact opposite....Its funny that one official Nokia source completely 100% contradicts another official nokia source, although I cant say I am completely surprised

Dont forget though, you had a reply from the helpline, and these guys dont really know what they are talking about, just whats written down on a standard reply form, you need to direct questions a little further up the ladder.

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this has already been asked. What will this software update allow me to do:

europe.nokia.com/A4176089?N80

It seems to update the Firmware using a Normal Nokia PC USB cable and shouldn't damage my phone if it comes from the Nokia website, should it? Is the software upgrade in the link above to upgrade the N80 to the N80ie or is it just a firmware update of the N80?

I want to use TomTom on my mobile and so need the upgrade. I think I actually have the firmware before the one with the dodgy bluetooth connection, but would like the latest one anyway.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

If i try with reinstalling my mahince from home edition to professional will it help for me to flash my phone

Can some one suggest in which mode should i flash the phone, in normal or local or other options.
Chandu

There is no link. Try with FOTA if yor N80 is capable or with NSU from the PC. Both will go to the proper page. Warning: If you get: NO UPDATE AVAILABLE it realy does not mean that there is no update. Try several times because NOKIA servers are very bussy on that metter. Good luck

Kreso

Still not available in the UK yet and could be some time if Nokia UK have anything to do with it. I would suggest we all bombard Nokia with e-mails asking for the upgrade. Never know they may get the message eventually but I'm still not going to hold my breath!!!!!

Can anyone tell me if I can flash a Nokia 6170 phone which is a DCT-4 phone using a Nokia CA-53 NOKIA cable with Phoenix software?

Many thanks!

kreso wrote:Officialy now is possible to upgrade N80 to N80IE with NSU

Hi

Thanks for the updated, i have used NSS to write the EURO 3 code then i installed NSU and my N80 is now has the version v. 4.0632.038
13-10-2006-RM - 92
Nokia N80(01).

Thanks for the help and support

The NSS & NSU firmware update N80--->N80i works for me:
(0539648 SCANDINAVIA Patina Bronze Internet Edition).
Thanks..

Iam NOW also the happy owner of a Nokia N80 Internet Edition (On Danish! - code 0541439).
I took the long way, and followed the list , and it worked perfect! 😎

Top Dollar Guide!! :icon14:

Have just upgraded to N80ie Euro 1 using NSS to change the product code to 0538301 and then NSU to upgrade - works a treat.

Phone now shows
V 4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80(01)

Just a couple of things to watch out for. The first time I did it I backed up and then restored the phone and card memory. When I restored I lost the internet folder. Best to just sync. your phone to save messages, contacts etc. then sync. back after upgrade. Also any Java apps and some Sis apps on the phone will need to be reinstalled as they do not all run after the update so make sure you have copies of the files available. Can confirm that TomTom 6 works without a hitch although you need to re-establish link with GPS reciever first time you use it. Have also installed podcast which is available on the N80ie web site but have not had time to try it out as yet. Have not tried internet phone as yet but will try that tommorow as I have no Wifi at home (Big hint to wife might work that one out though! ) Good luck and to Nokia - Get your act together. For god sake let ALL N80 users have the upgrade without having to fool NSU - You know it makes sense!

Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum but have had the N80 for quite some time now. I have been reading about changing product codes and the like so i was thinking of doing this myself. What i am wondering is that if i want to change the product code to that of the Greece one will there be a problem in me doing so? I am actually from Australia but have a Greek background. And will it have the option for the English language as well.

Thanks for any info and sorry if this has been answered.

I have the N80 on Vodafone UK

V 4.0623.0.42
20-09-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (01)

Used NSS to update it from V3 to V4 with instructions a found here a few months ago. What code should i use to upgrade it to N80i? Euro 3 or??? also how long does it take to upgrade and should i chnage my code back once the update is done?

thanks for the info.

Hi,

what is the best way to save/backup my phone book and all my settings for sms, mms and internet connections? How can i backup my WLAN settings?
Some people have trouble using content copier (PC Suite) after they had reinstalled the backup with PC Suite on the new flashed N80IE.

How did you saved your settings and phone book before flashing?

Thomas

i have a N80 running V4 but I want to upgrade to the IE edition.
i have used NSS to change the product code to "euro 3 pearl black"
first of all, how do I know if it changed? how can I verify it on the phone?
second, i use FOTA and Nokia Software Updater, both told me I have the latest version.
or update not available...

am i missing something? please help.

Saved my phone book and messages by sycronising with outlook prior to upgrade then sync. back afterwards (do not use backup ). Did not bother with SMS MMS or WLAN as phone found them all after upgrade without a problem. If you have any images etc. on the phone memory transfer them to your memory card or PC prior to doing the upgrade and take any memory card out first. Also make sure you have the original copies of any programs as you will need to reinstall them. I actually formatted my memory card and start over from scratch and have found I have more free memory now.

Eggyacid

What product code did you use. It must be an N80ie code not an N80 code otherwise NSU will not give you the update. You can verify the code by using the flash section of NSS and reading the code back after you have written it to the phone. Make sure when you write the code to the phone you tick the little box on the right of the product code

There's a bit of a debate about this. Generally UK phones are either Euro 1 or (in my experience more commonly) Euro 2.

I've upgraded my Vodaphone locked N80 to the N80IE firmware with the Euro 1 product code (have to confess I just clicked the wrong box 😊 ) but that works just fine. It takes about 5 or 6 panic filled minutes. After the upgrade I would suggest leaving your product code as it is. Your product code is likely to be higher than the available N80 code and downgrade flashing has been show to brick phones in the past.

I used the code found on the first page

0544109 EURO 3 Pearl Black Internet Edition

i picked Pearl Black since mine is black... should I try a different code?

thanx

Have you been able to confirm that the new code has been written to the phone. If not then you need to do that first. If you have then try the code I used which is 0538301. I know that one works and also the # key can still be used to change from general to silent profile after you update.

fdxd wrote:I updated via nokia updater too. Had to change product code.

i was trying to update too but not working as the NSU said my software is up to date

my firmware is v4.0623.0.42 20-09-2006 RM-92 NOKIA N80 (49.01)

I have changed the product code using NSS

any ideas? cheers
