3) 0541542 HONG KONG Smooth Stainless Internet Edition
However dun work.

The NSU v1.2.30en adviced "No update found" and still detected that the phone is N80 RM-92....

Anyway one has any clue or advice out there....? Thx ya!
Wish to see I could have a N80i for the coming New Year.

Did you check if your new code was really written to the phone? (In NSS click on the FLASH tab and click the SCAN button. After that it will display your (new) product code inside the window on the left side of the button.

My NSU also said that the detected phone is a "N80 RM-92", even I had changed the product code to N80IE EURO 2 already (0539712).
However, after I launched NSU and updated the phone, it did install the N80IE software/firmware on it.... So I am actually trying to say that you could probably ignore the message that the detected phone is a normal N80 even you have changed the product code already.
Even after I had updated my phone to a N80IE, when i launch the NSU software it still recognizes my phone as a normal N80, while I am 100% sure I do have the IE firmware/software running on it now.

you need to have the nokia cable driver installed on your computer also .

best thing to do is uninstall everything to do with nokia,

download and install the latest nokia software suite (this has the driver already)

Re-install NSS

then try again 😊

should work ok.

dont worry about all the list of values etc

open NSS>when the phone is plugged in via pc suite> scan for device> click phone info icon, top left,> click scan in the centre of the screen> then cut and paste the product code you want eg 0539363 for euro 1 pearl black ie in the product code box> tick enable> then click write.

done

after a few seconds you can click "flash" top centre icon and click "scan" your new product code will now be displayed.

x out of all NSS then go to NSU search for updates and you will now get updated to N80ie!!!!

Cash,
When I press *#0000# on my phone, i get the following message:

V 4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (02)

So I am sure I have the IE software on my phone. However, as what I said before, NSU still recognizes my phone as a normal N80 even after the update... But I dont care, because I am very happy with my N80IE software now 😊

bbracer16valver, I "think" you can ignore the message what u got... I have the same message (on the DEVICE tab) when I start NSS... But you need to go to the FLASH tab and press the SCAN button there to read out the current product code of your phone. To write the new code, u have to be on the PHONE INFO tab.

you do have the N80ie firmware 😊

I think bbracer16valver problem is that he doesn't have the cable driver installed, he says he has no other Nokia software installed so he cant have the cable driver installed, and NSS wont find his phone unless he does this ...

bbracer16valver wrote:what would be the best code to choose for uk N80ie??

euro 1,2 or 3?

and what's the colours got to do with it?

too be honest it doesn't really matter, all have English....the differences are just different language packs for different regions of Europe, the colour I suspect is just to identify the phone .. nothing important at all.

Cash, I think you are right about the cable driver issue that bbracer16valver has.
And by the way, thanks a lot for sharing all the detailed information here about upgrading the N80 to N80ie 😊

bbracer16valver, for the codes... as far as I know euro 1 and euro 2 both support the english language. Perhaps you could check the current product code on your phone... and then search somewhere on Google if this product code is using euro 1 or 2. (I guess for the normal N80 there is no euro 3 zone, but I am not sure about that)
So when you found your code and euro zone 1 or 2 on google, I would suggest you to use the same euro zone for your N80IE.

No Probs 😊..happy to help

I think bbracer16valver can use any of the euro 1 or euro 2 codes quite confidently, I am assuming he only needs English language.

ok it worked for me 😊 (i think??)

its now

Follow the instructions in the first post about changing the product code with NSS...you do not need to install any existing nokia software as you need the nokia cable drivers for NSS to discover your phone.

I think only Euro codes work at the moment, so if you are happy to have a euro language pack then thats fine, euro1 settings 0539363 works, and include English

Then download NSU from the Nokia site, plug your phone in and check for updates, and run the update, leave your phone for at least 30 minutes, don't even touch it to check if its upgrading ok because the Nokia cable is a little dodgy if its moved.

But most important read as much as you can of this thread because all problems and questions have been discussed and answered here..its impossible to talk about all scenario's/

Its an easy process if you follow the instructions. and have done your reading so you know exactly what to do.

Not sure about your language pack you need, somebody else here may be able to help you to choose the best one to suit, and as for using NSS . just follow the NSS section in the first post, there is nothing more that I can add about using it, its pretty straight forward

😊..

forgot to say you can still use phoenix to upgrade to apac firmware, but if you are having difficulty using NSS then I don't think its the best route because its more complicated,

Also there is no download link yet for phoenix so its impossible to use it at the moment

Of course you can, just try with different numbers until you get the one that works, it wont harm your phone by just changing the product codes 😊..

I have never tried reflashing twice, but I know others here have said that it can be done ...

i still cannot download the nss file from rapidshare, is there any chance someone can uplaod it somewhere else? I cannot get it 😞 Please?!
thanks

i have downloaded NSS.
after installing it, i wanted to change my product code to 0543922

i followed the steps and after clicking write, it does not complete and gives "write new values ... error"

any help ?

Just upgraded to N80 ie thanks to eveyrone on this thread for all the easy to follow details.

However I just have one problem now, after upgrading I can no longer connect with nokia pc suite software. I was able to with N80 firmware??

I removed pc suite plus all the drivers, downloaded the lastest version installed on my pc and still no luck.

My computer recognizes that a new hardware device has been found and then finds the appropriate drivers. But the pc suite software just says "No Phones Connected"

This problem is driving me insane.....any help would be appreciated

PS: This is a great site,

No probs 😊

The biggest change is the Sip functionality, so you can use tru VOIP, like truphone or gizmo,

there are some camera improvements (but not much of an improvement), some people say it runs a little fater, but I think that is in direct relation to the amount of apps you have installed
