laurens wrote:Did you check your equaliser settings of the music player? If the profile "soft" is selected, the volume is really soft.... But if you chose another profile, like default, bassboost or rock, the volume is very loud again. I think it's even louder than the previous N80 firmware I had. But what dissapointed me is that the quality of the music player is much worse! Before (when I had the normal N80 firmware) I had a very good bass when I listened with the normal nokia headset, but now when I have the N80ie software, the bass is very weak....... 😡i'm not talking about listening music trough the speakers or headsets is about when i recive CALLS the volume is LOW even if is MAX volume.😡
Did anybody else discover the same problem?
I didnt find any problems with the volume, maybe try to reboot the phone or something.
Cash wrote:No probs 😊The biggest change is the Sip functionality, so you can use tru VOIP, like truphone or gizmo,
there are some camera improvements (but not much of an improvement), some people say it runs a little fater, but I think that is in direct relation to the amount of apps you have installed

I could be corrected but not sure if the APAC f/w is available?

As far as I know APAC is not yet supported to upgrade to the N80ie via NSU, you would have to go the phoenix route to upgrade if you wanted that
I flashed to N80IE already...whats the diff?? Hmmmmmmmmmm
Most visible: SIP options, Internet folder.
Theres a change log also somewhere

Which product code did ya use? 😊
I used 0539363. I'm thinking now that I shouldn't have used it
And now Ive updated, the phone feels slower. I take it I cant put the old generic firmware back?? 😊
No you cant downgrade, I think the phone is just a bit slower but worth it for the VOIP.

you cant downgrade, but I think you can re-flash with a different product code if you didn't get the right language pack....I may be wrong though..I am sure somebody here will clarify
You probably can I didnt try but i confirmed the Ukrainian code for silver n80 works 😊
yeah, I reflashed my upgrade from v3 to v4 twice when it didnt work with that wifi issue if you remember Cash. 😊
ALTHOUGH, that is my handset.. so whatever you do, do it off your own back
*I think that about covers my ar$e* 😉
I have succesfully upgrade the N80 to N80ie with only NSS and NSU.
Using EURO 2.
Many thanks to CASH :icon14:
I just want to have Chinese inputs!! 😞
Greetings..
I have read through this thread and no doubt I have missed the point. Forgive me, I suffer from mild dyslexia.
When trying to udpate the firmware on an N80 to the N80ie, after changing the product code (mine is from 3 in the UK) to one of the Euro ones, where do you obtain the i.e. firmware to load into the phone? the N80 support pages on the nokia website? or the N80ie support pages?
I'm sure it's on the thread somewhere, but I've missed it. Please help.
Many thanks
Henry
above should read....
after changing the product code, from where do you obtain the firmware to be uploaded to the phone? N80 support pages on nokia website? or n80ie support pages on nokia website.
Sorry.
Thanks
Henry
Hi chasqui, in short you don't need to do anything except use the online software update service from Nokia after you have changed your product code with NSS. Changing your product code will dupe the NSU in to providing a different firmware than you would normally get.
Hope that makes things a little clearer. The firmware is downloaded from nokia by the NSU (about 100 megabytes of it from memory)
Thank you so much. Makes sense now.
Henry
Re the language pack question raised by Cash:
I first flashed to N80 using Euro 3 code, but I wanted the French on there (on very rare occaisons I will use a smattering of (very poor) French). So I changed the code to Euro 1 and it flashed using NSU, but it did fail the first time. I left it connected, then ran the NSU a second time and it did work. There was a heartstopping 15 mins between attempts though when I appeared to have bust the phone.
It can be done, but not for the faint hearted!
(And I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary)
Hey Cash, you happen to have the latest 80ie RM-92_IE_EMEA_PR_dp_v15.03_SW4.0632.0.38 dated: 23-01-2007? Cheers..
Heard from my local forum, there is a product code for NSU to update to N80IE and have Chinese !!! Anyone knows?
