Hey,
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I've tried encoding a 2 hour video which is fine and I can get it down to 50Mb encoding at 64 kbit video and 12 kbit audio, 176 x 144, not a problem at all. Video plays out fine on the pc but when copied to the phone I get 3 second bursts of video but with constant audio. I figured this may be because the phone is effectively swapping out as there is only around 8.5Mb available phone memory (P800) so I tried re-encoding at 160 x whatever it is. The file size was reduced to around 30Mb but again when copied to the phone I get 3 second bursts with constant audio.
Has anyone else tried encoding long videos and has anyone actually been successful and if so, how?
Cheers
i'm using:
128,000 bps
audio and video
audio = AAC 16.00 kps 22.05khz mono
video = codec pv mp4
192x144
max frame rate 24.97
fixed i-frames 10 seconds
have you managed to get videos of nearly 2 hours to play smoothly though using those settings?
with 128000 yes, (actual is 121000)
at 64000, it's a little jerky and lags, but if like your halfway through a film, and it's starting to lag, just rewind or fast foreward it like 5 seconds, and it'll refresh the start if that makes sense
I have one at 64000 and one at 48000 file size for 64000 is 50Mb for 1 hr 57 mins and 30Mb for the 48000 and both are jerking all over the place. What encoder are you using as I guess this may be a deciding factor. I'm using a full version of pvAuthor (Packet Videos own encoder).
