MP4 Movie Settings for P800 HERE!!!

154 replies · 52,557 views · Started 09 January 2003

Click on the "Audio" tab, Audio Track : choose "Music" and the Output Sample Rate and Encoding Quality should be available.

Click on the Streaming tab. Set "Hinting type" to "None". The "Maximum Packet Size" and "Maximum packet duration" will be go to 1450 and 100 respectively.

I don't see the extra Data Rate setting.

Just created a new MP4 file using WM9 Encoder. Hopefully it'll work...

Can someone test it for me please 😃

Test 1 - 192 x 144, high quality/low framerate
http://www.superficial.net/ericksermonredman.mp4 (3.52Mb)

Test 2 - 192 x 144, medium quality/high framerate
http://www.superficial.net/erickredman2.mp4 (3.5Mb)
this files dont play

My CommuniCam pics look over expose in out door shoot under a bright afternoon sun. even if i adjust the brightness to min it still looks over expose.

Any of u guys experience this problem? is there any thing wrong with my set or is it a limitations to the camera? pls help.
windows media encoder 9 can convert to MPEG4 also.. It looks awesome, I haven't had time to play with it.. but it's VERY powerfull.. and FREE!! 😃

Right now I'm struggeling with my D-Link Bluetooth so I can transfer files to and from... When that is done I will see what settings to use for MS Media encoder!! 😃 😃 😃

Cannot play these either. WM9 does not supprt .mp4 as far as I know.

quicktime does....of course if you installed quicktime authoring

see my website, there is a guide both for mpegable and quicktime: http://p800turk.cjb.net

To all user of X4 ,
how to make the audio and picture the same pace ?? everytime time the audio is faster then the picture .

When I try and export with Quicktime, it always says...

"No audio will be output because this movie has no audio tracks"

..even though when Quicktime plays the movie, it has sound. This only seems to occur when opening MPEG/AVI files. I also tried converting an mpeg movie into a Quicktime movie, but it loses the sound then too.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I've tried this on several MPEG movies now, and none of them end up having sound.

Verified as working on my P800

Enjoy. 😃

Okay. How did you get it to work with quicktime?

I didn't. It didn't work with Quicktime at all so I gave up. Even the ones I created without any sound wouldn't work either.

In the end I used a combination of VirtualDub and mpegableX4live. It's the only thing I know of that actually works.

WM9 Encoder doesn't seem to work either.

PVAuthor 3 (www.pv.com) works as well, of course, it's made by the same company that made the p800 player. The real problem is that
-only works for 60 days
-you need the full version for AAC audio.

I played a little last night with PVAuthor, Virtualdub, MP4UI, AACENC and all the other stuff but in the end the results were not to the standard I would expect to get.

I exported from premiere to make the frame size right then encoded it with Mpegable with the settings listed here and it worked fine.

The 200 X 160 Video size runs a bit jumpy I found tho compared to like a 160 X

Check this out. Why mess up? PacketVideo has released PVAuthor v3.3 to encode MP4 files (esp. for P800). It's a 60-trial software, like below:

http://www.packetvideo.com/tools/authordownload.asp

For P800 users, please download this file too http://www.packetvideo.com/tools/P800OptimizedEncodingProfiles.zip as stated in the website.

I'm converting loads of movie trailers (mov -> avi -> mp4) for my P800 😊 Great!

But the Sound is horrbile !!! Because cann not use ACC code !!!!!!

SKY
big red text won't make ppl answer faster... they'll just ignore it as spam.

Does a file have to have the mp4 extension to play, as presumably this is just an avi file encoded with an mpeg-4 encoder. So can the P800 play avi files encoded to mpeg-4. Divx and xvid are mpeg-4 so could it play these with the codecs installed.
There is an free aplication called "virtualdub". It has great potential and you can prepare mpeg that will suits perfectly for p800 or any else pda.
How, what codecs have you used. I use vdub a lot for movies, but I have yet to make one using vdub that will work on my p800.

Im using the PV author trial and it works great! I was ablet convert an AVI right away.

My question is can we convert them to .3gp?

And if possible what are the settings on PV author to make them as small as possible.

I have experimenting with a crude tvio-like system based on ffmpeg. I generally record 352x288 with mpeg4 video and mp2 audio. A TV quality recording is 2 megs per minute. I would like adjust that setup to make videos that would also work on the P800.

Can anyone suggest some sound codec setting that would be recognized by virtualdub so that I can get the transcoding to process.

Ultimately the ffmpeg setup with have to do this in one step. Is there a one step way to produce mp4s on linux from a live source? How close is the mpeg4 video codec in ffmpeg to the mpegable one?

The mpegable vfw codec is downloadable from their website, and can be used with vdub. However when using this codec with vdub it saves the files as avi not mp4, renaming them does not work.

Using MpegableX4 to convert a mpeg to mpeg4 format file. seemed to work fine and can run the file on my PC. Transfer to P800 and I can see the file. I get a Error - Video Dimension Too Large when trying to run it, if I click continue I hear the soundtrack, no video?

Any clues??

Should I 'crop' the video? If yes to what dimension?
There is a crop feature in X4 under Preprocessing tab.

Help appreciated. Day one P800 user!

You'll have to resize the movie, maximum dimension is 200x172.

But you'll probably never get a height of 172 if you want to keep the aspect ratio of your movie.
Don't know what dimension your movie is but I would recommend for 4:3 200x150 and for 16:9 200x112.

Best way to resize a movie is to use Virtualdub as a frameserver.
Load the movie in virtualdub, add resize filter and enter new dimension, start frameserver and save the file as .avi NOT .vdr
Then load the avi in mpegable and encode.
(This doesn't work with .asf and other of microsofts files though)

Virualdub(mod) can do so much more then other tools.
Its open source.
The quality of the filters, esp trough avisynth is waaay beyond other software.
Its free.
Its the defacto tool of encoding for most doom9.net ppl.
Profiles fitting p800 can be tweaked much more.
There's more then just .avi sources.. m2v, vcd trough avisynth "any" video can be converted.
And once there's a way to decode other (similar) media formats on the p800 the limitations of pvAuthor are plain.

please help me.............. can anyone tell me where can i get a P800 here in the philippines???? please....... and how much it cost.......... please...... i desperate........ tnx 😞

Go to: www.sorenson.com and try Squeeze for MPEG-4. Its great and works for the P800. Only thing: Its $199

ok, I messed around a little last night with virtualdub, eventually managed to load my avi into it (once i'd used the fourcc changer to get rid of the dx50 error!) , then selected the resize filter and attempted to use the frameserver to output to a new avi as recommended in an earlier reply but nothing happened...frameserver just sat there, any ideas? at this point I decided to give PVAuthor a try....much easier to use but I can't seem to find anything for re-sizing the file? i'm left with a nice mp4 movie that plays on my phone but it's too small....

If anyone can offer any suggestions or help then it'll be much appreciated. I did manage using PVAuthor to take a 33mb south park avi file and convert it to a 19mb mp4 file...22mins worth that plays perfectly on my p800 😊
