I have just succesfully updated, however it has put my maps software back to the older version
I had downloaded the newer version from maps2go.co.uk and it did list the N95 - the N95 has now gone, any ideas where to get the new software from or should I just use the N93i download?
You can use N93 version, is the same OS on both phones.
N93i comes up with an error message, anyone any other ideas?

Its not the same as the N93 version. This is because the MAPS is already pre-loaded from the ROM on the N95 and the N93 is NOT. The difference is that the N95 is meant to be an upgrade whilst the N93 is a full install. Plus, the N95 has got the Internal GPS code whilst the N93 doesnt.
here you go:

do not uninstall the original Nokia Maps that comes with your N95, this is the update for Nokia Maps
enjoy! :icon14:
I ran the updater thingy above... now the pretty spinning globe when the maps app starts has disappeared. D'oh!

Same here. I installed it on the memory card. This does not seems to work. Where did you installed the update? What version number is display on the about screen?
(If installed on memory card: What happens if you install again on the phone memory?)

Hi i figure it out by trying to install on my memory, same error as u all. Just rem somewhere in this forum say that u have to install on phone memory
must be installed on phone memory, it's an update to the existing Nokia map which is located .......in phone memory
done that, installed to phone memory maps then load to 30% then freezes i have to restart the phone to get it to work now will have to do a total reset as its mucked the phone up if i leave it to try and load it switches off
I get the same problem, gets half way through then freezes, any one else with the sis file?
i just took my memory card out as i was going to reset the phone now the maps update works fine but as soon as the memory card is back in it freezes
cannot use maps at all while the memory card is in , so will have to reset
I got problems with maps too Guys!
I installed on the memcard and the globe has disapeared. If you open "ABOUT" on your meny you'll see it's the OLD version aswell!
I tried reinstalling it on the phones mem, but that can't be done...
I really don't want to do another hard reset after I just got everything back in place...
Anyone with a brilliant idea?
done a reset but did not work so has to re flash firmware again now its back to normal but not with the map update, a least the phone works now
so weird, mine worked well with firmware version 11 and it works just fine now with version 12 !!!???
don't know what else to suggest....
Dear monica _69,
Could you please check what version is written on the "about" screen.
We are all very curious what the problem is here. Does your Maps say NOKIA MAPS over the globe when you start it, ie the new update?
Thanks...

Id hazard a guess that the maps on the card are linked to the version on phone memory.
So when it gets to 30% thats finished loading the software it goes the maps and stops coz not right somehow.
Only speculation but a sensible guess.
Rather than resetting the phone try taking what you need off the card, format card.
Load up maps if it works install the map info back on card.
Im sure i remember before you had to load maps on card you have to boot up the software 1st.
Crispy

yes, mine says "Nokia Maps" above the globe when starting up.
When I click "About", it says:
v1.1 wk23 b04 OpenGL OpenBit MN
hope this helps
If I'm correct, then all people have problem who tried to installed the map update on the memory card. It seems that during that process it changes some state in the phone memory, so that it is impossible to install it again on the phone memory. (Even removing the memory card from the phone do not let us install the update).
And because we have no access to the phone memory (access restriction) there seems to be no way to fix this.
I don't want to start from scratch again, because everything else is working now on the new firmware, except Nokia Maps.
Don't really understand what the error u guys getting but i have encounter the maps program crash or exit after loading 30% of the map.
Can try to replacing the 20001f63 folder in private on the memory card with those whose nokai maps v1.1 wk23 b04 OpenGL OpenBit MN working. (***.mediafire.com/?akbzc2o5mmm)
Also delete the cities folder if u have installed it to memory card previously.
Hope it helps 😉
I had the same problem - maps would not start whenever I opened it.
I sorted it by doing the following:
1) Updated Nokia Maps software on the phone
2) Remove your memory card and then start and use the maps application for a few mins
3) Using latest version of Nokia map loader (from smart2go.com): Delete all previous maps from memory card
4) Connect the phone in data storage mode to the PC (NOT pc suite mode)
5) Using latest version of Nokia map loader (from smart2go.com): Delete all previous maps from storage device
6) Using Nokia map loader: download required maps.
Start Maps application again and you should be good to go...
Ok, I did it again:
- Format the phone memory using *#7370#
- Installed Nokia Maps Update to phone memory
- It works 100% now!!! (It shows now v1.1 wk23 b04)
But I have to install all the other application now...
Done as Alex25 and mine is now working
Cheers
Likewise, mine's now working fine 😃
Thanks

You cant. The updated version does not have it. Maybe it was fancy but frankly, a quite useless feature...

Sure it has. Please check if you really successfully installed the new version. In the Info dialog it should say v1.1 wk23 b04.
Installed fine for me first time on phone memory. Only problem I have found is in the updated version, for some reason I have lost voice navigation. Navigation is working, just without voice. It asks me if I want to download and if I say yes it says it can't download. I'll try loading the voices again from maploader.
I thought I was having the same problem with mine but when I checked, all that had happened was the new install had turned the voice volume down to zero.
