Ok, got it.
But the webby is utterly useless. For tomtom 6, it doesnt give any nokias compatible at all.
So is there a version I should be looking out for for symbian, or is tomtom 6 a generic package that comes with 2 installers? Because I cant find seperate versions (for example, for windows mobile, and for symbian).
Apologies if Im just being thick, but its just a PITA!
There are different versions, for Symbian, Palm, Windows Mobile etc, I'm not sure of all the model numbers.
There's a version 6.03, but think that's for Windows Mobile.
Bah, its doing my head in.
Does anyone have a link to the appropriate tomtom 6 software? I simply cant find it on the tomtom site, and I beleive its not the software you have to have a licence for, its tomtoms maps.
Besides, I dont need the maps, its just for testing purposes and if it works I shall be buying the updated maps.
TomTom version 6.01 is for S60v3 phones dunno wether its newest version though

Try the official TomTom Support page...

The Symbian 3rd OS version is there, says E61 Only / Feb 2007 but it works fine on the N95 (with External GPS Receiver only).
Thanks, Id seen that just before Id left work and am going to try it in a moment.
One thing Id like to know however, is updating maps.
Ive got the option of updating maps, for 30 odd.
The process goes as follows -
Select model
select device
select map
Now, what happens if I choose my device as the nokias (E50, E61, E62, N73, N80 etc)?
Is it a clean install, or does it look for my old maps (obviously there isnt any, its on my PDA)?
Cos if its a clean install Thats a much better way of doing it, that way I dont have to piss about transferring a licence when I get it working on the phone.

If I remember correctly, you get a new activation code with every map you buy. Even if it's an updated copy of the same map you already have, (e.g. UK & Ireland) the folder name contains the version number so you should end up with both versions of the map available for Navigation.
If the N95 is not listed, i would specify N80 as your model.
Great, cheers Dez. Thats going to save all the hassle of transferring my licence over to the phone. Im still not sure if I should wait till this patch comes out. The maps are rather cheap at the moment, at about 32.
And yes, I agree with you in saying that tomtom is the best satnav for symbian.
Heard anymore from GPS midlands? I sent them 2 emails, one was an afterthought.
N95s are getting fairly common, but 6110s are like rocking horse shit. I daresay this will change, but this puts 6110 owners at a disadvantage, as compatibility usually isnt good for uncommon phones.
My second email I told them I was willing to be a test subject, and submit any data and tests they need for making a patch for my phone. I would still pay for it (as long as it worked). No answer yet though.

Nothing since they quoted the price of £29.99 and said they were fixing the TT licence issue.
I suggest we are all patient and check their website Thursday morning. 😉

Don't hold your breath, they have said this a few times over the last couple of weeks. But when the day came they just 'revised' it again.
I hate having false positives. Im unsure what to do now. I really need to get rid of my PDA (Im about to buy a house, and need every friggin penny), and yet I need reasonably reliable satnav.
Tomtom would be the ultimate, as I know and trust that. Add to that, its only going to cost me 32 odd to upgrade.
Copilot is already compatible (I think), but its very expensive and I cant find many reviews about it. About as many as route66, and people know what i think of that *spits*.
Navigon might be worth the wait, but again, not many reviews.
Ho hum. Come on midlands GPS, give the masses what they want. 😊

The download states E61 Only / Feb 2007 but works fine on the N95.

You are correct, I read in another forum gpsmidlands have now revised the release date to next Monday and are now claiming the patch will be free.
It's looking less and less likely, but I am still hopefull it is all true.
Does anyone know if POIXpress will import POI sets to Nokia Maps V2 Beta.
Also where do the imported POIs have to be saved ?
Nokia Maps V2 looks a big improvement but the UK postcode search does not work with current Beta. Need to download the new map loader and redownload the maps because V2 uses Navteq maps.
Ok, this is what I have on my N95
1) tom-tom 6 with UK maps
2) GPS patch that allows tom-tom to run using internal GPS
3) Speedcam prog that runs in the background and initially alerts you to let you know you are approaching a speed cam and continues to alert you if you are going above the speed for that particular cam.
All works fine for me 😊
