Anyone ordered from hk-mobile.com?

I have not ordered from them, I Emailed and asked what firmware version they where selling and its the R1B. So I wouldn't buy it from them since there's now RiD and Maybe RiF. For almost the same price at Mobilefly they sell the R1D version. I ordered today from them but it's a pain in the ass because it has to be done through wire transfers or Paypal.

Much to my dissmay I found out as I got back from the bank that SE USA is now taking backorders fror 635 $ (Great price) I called and haven't got ananswer on when they start shipping but it should be soon...635$ Imagine!

Yes you can always upgrade software so it's not a problem really, it just means a little bit more work that's all.

I don't know about any tax, unless customs is to rip open your box, and make you pay a tax, which is extremely unlikely. It is true, the power adaptor that comes with the phone is a UK style 110-240 voltage adaptor. Yes, you can get the phone upgraded in your country. If the phone needs replacement and Sony Ericsson wont replace it for you, and it is a manufacturing defect, on a case by case basis, most likely we will replace a new phone for you upon receiving the old one. I ordered mine from HK-mobile on Tuesday but got an e-mail back saying, due to Chinese New Year, it won't be shipped until Friday. Still, at least they let me kow, haven't taken the money yet, give a definite date and have promised to give me a UPS tracking number when it is dispatched.

That's a lot better than most!

I'm tempted to order from HK-Mobile.com, but Im concerned about the amount of import duty/VAT that would get slapped on the phone when it got here (UK).

With import duty/VAT, it would probably push the price over that of Expansys.

Anyone have any first hand experiences of ordering from HK-Mobile, to countries with import regulations similar to the UK?

I bought mine there, got it the next day in the afternoon =)
I'll update the software when the P800 comes out in France.
Oh, and it's EMS, not UPS.

Is the version that HK Mobile sell different to "normal" ones?

The one you ordered from HK Mobile, I assume came with English instructions, English language settings, etc?

I am sooo close to ordering from them, but I want to make sure I don't get a pre-release P800, or one which is "deficient" in any way.

You have your answer a couple of post up. HK i selling the phone with the R1B Firmware. It is in english, and it is not a betha model, but as bugs get fixed SE upgrades the firmware. Right now the most current firmware is R1D, although there is a R1F issued, but it's not easy to find

Sorry to sound like such a n00b...

This is the first time I've used PayPal...

I've registered an account with PayPal, confirmed the email address, added a credit card (although not verified/upgraded to member status because I'll have to wait for statement).

When I click on "Add to Cart" on the HK Mobile website, I just get taken to the main PayPal website, and asked to log in. When I do log in, nothing related to the transaction happens - I just get the usual PayPal screens showing a balance of $0, etc.

I can't see any way of actually ORDERING the phone through HK Mobile using PayPal?

Please help 😞

Turns out the HK Mobile form doesn't work properly, or at least not the way PayPal suggests. Created my own page using HK Mobiles details, but with the correct FORM fields and it worked.

Yay can't wait for P800 now! 😃

It wouldn't work at all for me. When I clicked on "Add to Cart" on the HK Mobile webpage it took me to the front page of PayPal, where I had to log in with my details.

When I logged in, it was as if it had forgotten that I had come from HK Mobiles, and was just behaving as if I had gone to http://www.paypal.com on its own... if that makes sense.

Doesn't matter anyway, it worked for you - it worked for me after some tweaking. 😊

I bought my P800 from hk-mobile for �697. Daniel from hk-mobile said that if I ordered at the weekend, he would ship it on Monday to Spain. So I ordered and received 3 emails from PayPal about my transaction but not one single email confirmation from hk-mobile. So I followed up with Daniel and he said that Monday was the start of the Chinese New Year and post offices were closed, so he would ship it on Tuesday. But wait, did he say he could ship on Monday????

Anyway, I guess that was a simple oversight and I was told that I will have my P800 before Friday (tomorrow, Feb 7th).

Oh, I was aware that HK only ships British Imperial 3-pin ac adaptors, which isn't really that bad coz you can get Ericsson CST-13 or compatible adaptors anywhere for �30.
So now I'm only waiting to see if and how much import duty I have to pay.

Please let us know when you get it and how much you had to pay?

Does EMS have a homepage?

Do they ship to the door or do they hand it over to the local/normal post apartments ?

EMS has a deal with every national postal service, so in France it's "chronopost" in England it was the royalmail parcelforce service etc...
You can use any tracking system, and it's delivered to your door. I do remember that in England they changed my tracking number once it got there, I had to phone RM to get the new one...

These guys suck. I was tricked into ordering quickly because they could ship quickly, and as it turns out they shipped 5 days later. That's not fair and p****s me off big time. I don't mind the delay, but the fact that I was told something else which led to my order. Don't order from these guys!!!!
