Google Maps hits 2.1

Just a quick note for those that hadn't spotted the differences in the screenshots in my free-nav article above. Google Maps for Mobile 2.1 for S60 has just been released, the only differences I can see are extra icons at junctions along a route and proper favourites icons. Anyone able to add to this list?

Read on in the full article.

Was favorites available in previous versions?
I noticed my favourites from Nokia maps only after this update.

I think that one of the major difference is the way it handles favorites. It can share favorites with Nokia Maps now!
The favorites saved on Nokia maps 2.0 show up on Google maps 2.1 and vice versa!

Also more language support? Estonian is supported now 😊

some keys on the e90 don't work. anyone want to confirm:
Inside screen operation:
search for a place, look at the list of results in numbered order and you can't select anything.

Handles zooming differently ... used to bring up a box to show the zoom area, now shows the tile you've selected as a low res zoomed version (if that makes sense)

Things that jumped out at me are the favorites stars. Annoyingly, many of the selection screens have changes (from search results, etc), and don't respond properly to trying to select links. On my n95, I get this screen full of info and options about a search result, and none of the links (directions to/from, center on, etc) work. Finally, the zoom in behavior changed for the worse. You used to be able to press zoom in, then move the box to exactly where you wanted it zoomed in. Now it zooms automatically.

Also worth noting that since route66 shares the same place where it stores favourites, your favourites are all usable in all three of these apps, Nokia maps, Route66, and google maps.

I dowloaded it onto my Orange N95 firmware v13 and it bricked the phone 😮 during installation, I had to get a replacement today via Orange Care 😊. It would not boot up just gave a white screen.

Does it still boot you out of the program when there's any slight loss in GPRS signal saying "Must have an internet connection" and leaving you lost somewhere while you reload the app 🙄

To me that's its biggest pitfall to me. You can be merrily following the purple line and just as it cant download tiles for about a minute it decides the best course of action is to exit yeah great idea....

Appears to fix the unselectable link problem on N82 & N95.

@Unplugged
yes, it no longer requires you to exit when network connection drops.

crazy that the Nokia software installer sometimes bricks the phone !

my nokia n95-1 is down, just white screen , I am sweating bullets here people, I see some had same issue , but I saw it too late .... does anyone know what I should do? Help please!!
