Exclusive: Nokia N82 v31 firmware now online

I'm interested in updating but I'd rather wait until these bugs get ironed out.

I'd love to update my N82. It has the Euro1 product code, but Software Update is telling me that v30 is the latest firmware 😞
Out of interest what product code are you using Steve?

Have you tried downloading a version of Maps from the website and reinstalling? The versions included in firmware releases are often quite old so it may help.

I'm assuming it still doesn't have nice FP2-like transitions? Right?
Probably the same changelog as that of the N95's version?

just upgraded successfully on a german n82 (GERMANY - 0554980). no problems so far, maps works as expected (i've manually installed an .sis update a while ago, if that matters).

Tried everything. Re-wiping C disk. Tried installing from latest standalone SIS. Tried without microSD in. Nothing works. Maps is screwed. Still need more data points though, guys....

I'll upgrade when I know what exactly at least the main benefits are 😊

As somebody stated, does it comes with menu transitions?

I have V.30 and I think (for me) there is no need to upgrade, since sometimes the newer firmware is worse than the older.

no, there are no transitions. That I can see, anyway! I'm not doing a very good job of 'selling' this upgrade, am I? 8-)

Have you tried connecting to map loader and deleting the maps and then redownloading?

I am curious to your product code too, it's certainly not Euro 1, other wise it would be Nokia N82 (01.01) not (28.01), I think yours maybe a UK CV.

Mine seems fine, with the Euro 1 firmware.

"no, there are no transitions. That I can see, anyway! I'm not doing a very good job of 'selling' this upgrade, am I? 8-)"

Erm.... i just don't see the benefits of upgrading to this firmware... v30 already had the "anti-jailbreak feature" and is (arguably) a good firmware update...

what more could Nokia have added? I was badly hoping they'll add transition effects to the N82. Oh well... so much for keeping my hopes up... 😞

@ratkat: The problem shows with just-flashed firmware and no memory card in at all, so it's nothing to do with map formats..... 8-)

Which "these bugs"? This is the 5th firmware update for the N82, if I count correctly, so between the first version and this one, I imagine a bunch of bugs have already been fixed.

Is the icon bug in log fixed (showing always the mobile phone icon)?

...nothing special about this update at all!

although the update process did fail on me the first time, i had to remove the battery and try again... when i i did, it worked and kept all my programs/data intact...

Now that I've made the choice to use the N82 as my main phone until a proper replacement is ever released, I'm certainly interested in keeping the phone updated. This bug you seem to be having with maps is putting me off trying at the moment though!

slitchfield: Did you try to reinstall the firmware in NSU, you've got nothing to lose.

Installed the update from ver 30.0.019 (RM-313) and it worked ok. No problems with Maps. Ill get back if I find something strange.

Updated to the new firmware v31.0.016 and everything well. No problems with the nokia maps in online. Everything works smooth. No hangouts nothing. The changelog follows soon...

Well after an initial hesitation I took the plunge. had to restart the update several times. But finally up to v31.
Mobitubia and Maps seems to be working just fine (thank god)

don't know about the change log but I believe the autorotate feature (which was really screwed on the N82) is a little bit faster, not N95 8GB fast, but still faster than before.
Also I had this problem with the browser when it used to chop off text lines as I scroll, that seems to have gone as well.

Steve seems you're really having a bad day here, hope your phone is back and running by now.

If it is a device intended/manufactured for a Spanish speaking region/country (or a neighbouring country), then it'll have Spanish, too. If it is a device manufactured for, e.g., Scandinavia, then it won't have Spanish.

very strange. after the update the phone refuses to connect to the network. it says "no access" when i try manually to select my operator
