Exclusive: Nokia N82 v31 firmware now online

did anybody check if the "curse of silence" sms vulnerability was fixed?

I'm sure the maps problem will be no problem at all because Nokia is just about to release Maps 3.0 for FP1 phones.

Yeah, right.

Please start building FP2 firmwares for all these older N series devices.

Win our undying gratitude.😊

After updating to v31 Nokia Maps is OK but Google Maps show the wrong location. Selecting my location in Google Maps showed a location 100 miles away in Cambridge. Not a place I have visited in the last year.

I fixed the problem in Google Maps by doing an Options/Tools/Reset. Then reselecting my preferences.

I already upgrade to v30 without realising unsigned apps cannot be installed, so I'm going to wait until somebody cracks that version before I even consider upgrading given the lack of features or real improvements.

I also just updated to v31.0.016. It went in without a hitch! Everything seems to work well - including Maps.

At last!!!!! a firmware update!

To those who have updated... can you check if it has already the following:

> Inserting contacts name and/or numbers in an SMS message
> Option to adjust audio when recording either audio or video
> TURN OFF CAMERA SOUND! (Not available in Asia)
> Option to choose which folder to use as source for music files.
> Separate Video gallery and Photo gallery.

Thanks

Sounds more like a wishlist to me.

the only error i have discovered was that the Music on startup just gave me a generic error and showed 0 tracks...

after 5-6 attempts to refresh library and repair library, eventually it re-imported the songs on my memory card...

so... what were the benefits of this update again??

I have a problem after upgrading to v31 from v30. I'm using X-Sim to bypass Orange hard lock and I can't connect to network! It says no access and even after 3 upgrade retries it's still the same.

Any ideas how to go back to v30? If I change the country code will it be possible to go back or there is another way?

I was tempted to update my N82 with the new firmware and tested Nokia Map and other stuff in the phone and so far, no problems found. I do however, formatted my memory card and reinstalled everything again.

i have exactly the same problem with an orange phone and turbo sim adapter. as far as i know the only way to downgrade is to visit nokia service center. i think there is a solution involving flashing with phoenix but it's dangerous for the phone

update
this is a quote from nokia's support forum

Just got this email from a service centre:

Nokia have update there firmware to block the x-sim from working because of complaints from the network providers that lock the phones.

Current (Tues 27/1, 2pm) changelog courtesy of symbian-freak.com:

1. More faster and stable than the old one
2. Call ending bug fixed
3. Improved Auto Screen rotation
4. Slightly louder and bit clearer loudspeakers
5. Faster GPS Lock
6. Smoother fonts
7. Wlan connectivity improved
8. Battery performance improved

and

" loudspeakers are now MUCH better. Try using them with STEREO WIDENING on. In previous firmware it used to lack quality but now it sounds crystal clear. Very Happy Plus with all the apps the phone is definately faster and more stable. Wlan connectivity also seems to be improved. I can't comment on the battery but it is full since morning with about 1hr of gps, 1hr music from headphones, 1hr music from loudspeakers, 39 photos with flash on and a little bit of messeng around. All in all very satisfied. "

and

"now i have 110MB free on C: (before i've had only 87MB)."

After having installed the firmware I can't make any data connections anymore (no calls, sms or internet).

I don't have a U-sim, I have an "old" normal sim card. Could that be the problem? And if so, why now?

I have now 30.0.019 "not hackable" but a new hack was found today or yesterday, it works, I can install unsigned and read/write private and sys. I suggest you to go on www.symbian-freak.com

No need to thanks... I am just a messenger 😊

Just upgraded to v31. Haven't noticed anything spectacularly positive yet. On the other had, I have noticed that pressing the Gallery button does nothing anymore for me and pressing and holding it goes into some sort of color screen test. Can anyone see if theirs does the same thing.

Phone is fine, I can get out of the test screen just fine so no panic but it seems like an unusual action.

upgraded to v31 withotu any problems

and hacked using the Y Drive method 😉

N82 RM-313 upgrade went without incident and maps loads fine. Not tried much yet.

Still have two lines of text for "Search: Internet and My content" 😞

I've updated from '30 to '31 without any problems. So far I haven't noticed any visual changes, but the whole telephone is much faster - Menu, Gallery, etc...
All the soft and other info are still there after the update, Nokia maps is working like a charm.
I reccommend u all to make this update.

I updated my phone last night - I had a few issues during the software reload, but once sorted everything seems to be working ok.

I have an unbranded N82 w/ product code Rm-313. v.31 is not showing up. I even went to the Device software update page to check, there too it also states v.30.0.019. So any ideas, on what's the deal here?

ok, this isn't even funny... My Music Player just kept showing no icons and gave no options to browse or refresh library... so reluctantly i had to do a factory reset... and now Music Works, but it has "repaired corrupt library" two times out of 5...

anybody else having this issue???

Hi all, can anyone help?
I seem to be having a rough time installing the update. Followed all the instructions (even added a few like put the phone into general profile and disconnect and turn of bluetooth). It still crashes! The message comes "Phone recovery Nokia Software has lost its connection with your device. Follow these instruction...."- battery reboot scenario. I've done this several times to no avail. The phone seems to be working again but not sure what the impact of the aborted upgrades is. Any one got any ideas why this is happening- before you ask yes it's connected using the dedicated cable.
Thanks in advance

I had similar issues when trying to upgrade. What made a difference for me was actually plugging in the charger, which at the beginning of the upgrade I had not done so did not plug in after the first time the system gave the lost connection message.

When I plugged the charger in, after connecting the USB cable and putting the battery back in, the phone kicked into life. First time I've ever had issues like this on an upgrade though

i have de v 31, but i have a probleme with nokia maps with out connection at internet, it dindn`t work. and i thing is move slowly...my opinion.i will try to reinstal it and then il will try again..

Hi, I have just one tiny question: Is this new version stable? From what I have read from your review, I think this new firmware is not reliable.

After upgrading my n82 to the new firmware, when I go to settings to change the ringtone, it only gives me two options, "off" and "download"!!! I can not choose from anyother ringtones like before! anyone else has this problem?

Upgraded to 31.0.16 from 30.0.x, smooth upgrade, no data lost, not even contact groups deleted. (Strange ... isn't it) ?

Yesterday I made an update to my system from v30 to v31 and I now have problem with the system DATE... it adds days by it self!!!!!!!!!!! Don't make this update SOS....... I try to reset the phone and make a clean update but nothing... the problem is still there....
