somebody needs to make the 7650 give head, thats the ultimate, better than coffee of guiness
I'm sure will brady can come up with something!
Haha!
Taking advantage of the vibrating function!

😃

Jish

Haha.
It's a fair cop - willbrady can't show his face in here anymore!

Are you going to ban my IP ?

Can't blame you really.

for the same purpose exist much better remotes, i.e. OneForAll.
ever seen a remote control in color screen tft and it can make calls and take pictures :P ?
I mean, this program is COOL because ADDS another functionality to our smartphones
I agree this app will be a great advertising for Psiloc as they were able to make an app nobody was thinking is possible. But I don't agree it will replace OneForAll. It is possible sometimes to use the phone instead OneForAll, but I suppose usually will take more time to start the application and send a command than to search for remote somewhere under the bed and use it 😊

Anyway, I don't want to argue against this app, and I think there are really great developers at Psiloc.

Well..., maybe we should think about the purpose of a remote. A remote is mean to control another devices that do those things, e.g. make calls or take pictures. If we think at Remote S60 which actually is a remote for Nokia 7650, and if Nokia 7650 is a remote for TV, then we could say that Remote S60 is a remote for TV too. Or in other words, our big PC or small laptop are a remote too.

Isn't it cool to control my TV from my laptop through Remote S60 and then Nokia 7650? 😃 Then think further: I could leave a Nokia 7650 at home in front of my TV, then I could connect with Remote S60 through internet, and then start and stop my TV from internet. Isn't this really cool? 😃

I was one of the people that said it was hard to implement but not imposible. It was done some time ago with Irda PC dongles and TV remote controlers, and they also had the rsmall range problem plus that it was dependant on the hardware (only on some irda dongles worked, mainly driver related). But here the hardware is standard (a nokia 7650/3650). Some problems like the incompatibility with some tvs will be fixed, but the 1-3 meters range problem won't and that's a fact cause it's a problem set by the IrDA specs (u know Irda and Infrared are different, like Bluetooth and WiFi are different, but a smart programmer can bridge them)

PS: Bluetooth and IrDA are registered trademarks of their respective owners.
WiFi and Infared are free to use without anyone's permision... 😃 😉

Will someone just post a link up for the beta? What harm will it do! People just want to have a play and test it for themselves!

If they can't get it to work, then they'll wait for the public release.

Get off your high moral horse, it's beta software for crying out load!!!!

:agrue:

Ok ok calm down. Here is your prg you wanted..........

JyriK edit: Sorry, attachment removed.
As requested by PsiLOC

Hey, the developers themselves requested for it not to be posted!!!

Wait for the public release. Beta copies are not for public use. These are for beta testers only in which the developers choose.

Any way, I hope this causes a problem to your phone!!!. That's the risk of using a beta product.

My advice to novice users, never install beta products!!! 8)
OK my Sony one works now aswell, I have changed the settings for it. If I change the param of the "BITS" to 12 instead of 15 on the Sony (by left clicking and going to params and then keep clicking ok until "bits" shows and changing it to 12) and it works beautifully for more than 2 metres. Say about 4 metres at least.

For my LG my settings are normal Phillips, and has the same distance.

I tested on TEAC and it does'nt work on any settings. Do'H!

Ok I also did it on Sony VCRs and it works if I change the BITS to 12 while on Sony VCR option. (same as above)

Cheers 😃
how do you get to parameters mate ? if i left click all i get is
about
options
exit

as for working on an lg . i hace an lg portable but have no luck
cheers

i works great on 3 of my phillips tv, all from a distans of 10m!!!!, thats better than my IPAQ
cant test longer away , no more room 😃

Just got it from a friend to test it. It is version 0.21. It worked flawlessly on my two sony tvs and one vcr. But the range was about 2 meters. If it was more i had various problems. Found on options to change some expert settings. I also couldn't make it work with a watson tv. No option to work with hi fi like aiwa and philips only vcr and tv. What i would love to see is some skin option so we can change the look of the buttons. Customized buttons so we could add some other options like teletext, menu, etc. An open developing system (not open source) that will let experts to create separate profiles for other tvs, vcrs, etc. Anyway the program is great. It just needs time to evolve. The developers have managed to disable the irda limitations, have direct access to the infrared hardware and use it separately as an general infrared device...

YAY!!! working for me on my new 29" LG (using phillips setting) and my older 21" Hitachi ...

AMAZING it works at about 2 metres!!

The only thing is the ir beam from the phone must be very narrow as it you need to be pinpoint accurate where you're pointing it for it to work.

I have got beta 0.21 and it works fine on philips settings for my philips TV, about 3.5 meters away, well impressed

They are hard working on it
This is part of the email from PsiLoc:

Because irRemote is fully customizable, "skins" (layouts) are only
examples of how it may look.

At the moment we are working on layouts for all sets (TV, VCR, DVD,
Amplifier, Tuner, CD, Tape etc.)

how the hell do i use this app!!!!! do i have to put the infrared on b4, and do i just select my tv from the list and it will work?

got it working with the sony downstairs in the kitchen, by changing the bit to 12 and the same for the vcr, but i need it working on samsung and jvc

Me being a cheapskate, we have a Matsui and a Mitsubishi but neither have default settings in the program itself. Anyone know what should be changed in order to get it to work?

Cheers! 😃

If this IR remote works on 7650, it will definitely open the door to better apps, similar to OneForAll, in next Symbian IR handsets, making that kind of gizmo very cheap (if you consider only the software price)!

Perhaps it's the wrong thread but someone mentionned the RS60, i got it working only through IR from laptop. Is there a way to connect via IP. How do you get your 7650 IP add once you're connected ? (usually the address is set internally in the GPRS network (GGSN) and not visible from the handset). Anyone managed the IP connection with RS60, if yes, how?

For the ones who want to control coffee machine, easiest way remains SMS today...although a bit backward 😉

hey.. a nice add on to the remote:

voice command!

(louder... softer next prev.. ) 8) 😮

Could you be any more impatient, respectful (developer's rights)? They specifically requested for it not to be posted and then it was posted. [b]hypothetical[b/]It's like someone asked you not to post naked pictures of his wife in which case you still did [b]due to insistent public demand[b/] Then you see the naked picture of someone else.

Besides I wasn't being arrogant. I it seems I did, I apologise. Still you have to respect that beta phase is for a closed circuit testers only...not the public. Otherwise, if developers keep on giving out betas and have critical problems making your phone unusable, then it's your fault. It was an advice if you don't need it then don't mind it. If you ain't novice then don't mind it. 😉
