This new firmware is available at all the NSCs island wide.. Dont see any difference from the 4.39 though. :-? If i notice anything different i will let u guys know. 8)

could you check the settings/headset if there might be any support for bluetooth headsets?
there could also be something in the bluetooth application - search for audio devices - or something similar...

Thanks!!

i have 4.39, no bluetooth-headset support.... not in the settings-apps nor in the bluetooth-app.....

Nope...There is no audio bluetooth profile in this firmware. I have not found any difference between 4.46 & 4.39 so far. Dont know if its actually whether its worth the upgrade or not. :roll:
is there any plans for support NOKIA 7650 BT audio profile from NOKIA at all? It seems to be no chance to.. Am I wrong? I haven't been following this issue for a while.

Officially:
There are no plans for Nokia to include BT headset support in the 7650.

Unofficially:
There are no plans for Nokia to include BT headset support in the 7650. Period.

Apparently, it's just not worth it.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though. 😃

@Snorbaard:
problem is that the guys form nokia austria never give you any good answers, they don't seem to know anything by themselves... what i'm missing is a nokia-official statement wether there will be or there won't be bluetooth audio support on 7650... so i'd be interested where to find this official statement..... any idea...?

if they say no i'm selling my 7650 again, going back to my 6310i & my old, but still good enough palm vx. - hey, i already have a bluetooth headset.... shall i throw it away 'cause of those stupid nokia people..?
and guess, no it's not a nokia bluetooth headset... 😊
V4.46. Is it April 1 already? 😉
There was a thread created a couple of weeks ago about firmware 4.46, but it was only an anouncement about the changes. So I believe it's true...

Popsmart, I can't quote directly, but I heard that it's mentioned on Forum Nokia that the 7650 will not support the bluetooth headset profile.

Again, I'd love to be proven wrong on this one (pleeeaasse Nokia, please please pleeaasse!), but it just does not look like we're getting this one..

Don't be too upset at Nokia - they never said that the 7650 *would* support the Bluetooth Audio Profile.
When I got my 7650 (November 02), I knew that the phone did not support the audio profile (I did my homework), so it wasn't a surprise.

If you want to keep the 7650's functionality but the the audio profile, trade it in for a 3650 and get a snazzy business-like cover for it.. 😊

Hate to sound like a convert, but bfter being spoilt with my 7650, there's no way I'm going back to an 'ancient' platform like the 6310 if I can help it.

@Snorbaard:
well, i got mine in june 2002 and somehow it was the first time ever that a phone was advertised as having bluetooth, NOT mentioning ANYWHERE that this does not support bluetooth audio-profile. and that this time it was common sense that any phone supporting bluetooth also supports bluetooth audio. well, shit happens, nokia tought us that this is not the case and to be aware of anything that says it has bluetooth...

<sarcastic-mode>next nokia phone will be able to search for other bluetooth devices but as they've removed the pairing-part of the software it can't connect to them, nokia swears it also has bluetooth audio support, but nobody can proofe it as the needed pairing-function will not be implemented</sarcastic-mode>

well, good for you as you did your homework... and no, 3650 is a no-go for me, even with business covers. if only the p800 price would drop down a little... 😉

took my phone in to my local nsc here in the uk to have them clean out the dust from under the screen and they put me in v4.46

What new display and what Bluetooth module??? 😮

any pallette extender for v4.46?? i'm using eprofile v1.70 and the pallette extender doesn't work for me. before i upgrade the software, it was working fine with my v4.39

1. What "new display"?
2. Do you know if there is any info on updates to 3650? And how much it is to update usually?

Apparently, this could be support for new version of BT module hardware. I've heared that Nokia 7650 doesn't support BT Audio profile due to BT module being incompatible. If Nokia eventually decided to make some modifications to it, then there is a little chance that BT audio will be eventually supported. not on our phones though.

the handfree mode is really loud this time as compare with v4.39 you have to do the voice tag method to get loud handfree speaker. don't have to do that method anymore.

Could you tell me what is this voicetag method?
Also my local Nokia SC said today to me that the 4.46 is out, no BT audio and they didn't rec because they say it still has some problems. Not so stable as 4.39. Who knows?

I'm on v 4.39 and didn't have to use the voice tag metod.The ringtones are quite loud.

The voice tag method is a little trick that our own TANKERx discovered.
Search the forum about it.
It boosts the speakerphone volume.For me it worked on v 3.12 and v 3.16.
In v 4.39 the speakerphone works like a charm so i haven't tried it

I've upgraded today from 4.39 to 4.46.

Palette Extender v1.02 didn't work with 4.46

Palette Extender v1.1 and vBeta3LE - worked :angel:
(Thanks again to faquick) :angel:

Hi, I think that there is no difference between 3650 & 7650, why 3650 can and 7650 cannot ?
I think we are able to force NOKIA to release firmware supporting BT wireless headsets/hands-free. it's terriblly funny, when phone has full wireless support and cannot use it. isn't it ? so we can organize an e-mail questions burst to NOKIA support, why not BT HF is supported and when it will be !!!! please send a copy of such mail to mailto:[email protected], i'll create a web page for this campaign with your Qs and also Answers from NOKIA. Thanks
Tomas

Just a bit of useless info for you;

The original 7650 was presented as having bluetooth audio support. The first few batches of publicity shots showed it with the HDW-1 headset.

The headset never made it to make it due to whatever reason. It was considered that it was a little pointless to release a bluetooth handset without a Nokia headset to go along with it. This combined with cost and software problems meant it was quicker, cheaper and easier to release the phone without BT Audio support. The HDW-2 was designed and made for Nokia by Plantronics as a quick fix to compliment the latest batch of business handsets. The software issues were resolved, the costs reduced over time and the headset ready for launch so BT Audio was incorporated into the 3650.

I've no idea whether the 7650 has the capabilities to use bluetooth audio via a software upgrade but those in the know say a hardware change will be required. From a commercial point of view, I can't see it happening with the imminent release of the 6600; This is the same company who produced the 7250i when a simple software update to the 7250 would have been far cheaper.
