Symbian & Nokia Links

A curated directory of the Symbian, Nokia and wider mobile-heritage community — discussion spaces, preservation projects, journalist archives, emulators, software sources, and the Psion lineage from which Symbian descends. Every external link opens in a new tab.

The list is split into nine sections covering everything from preservation projects and custom firmware to communities, journalist archives and Internet Archive collections. Start with Preservation Projects for an overview of the scene, or jump to Running Symbian Today if your goal is to keep a Symbian phone usable in 2026 (custom firmware, TLS patches, modern chat and YouTube clients). If you are hunting a specific app, head to App & Theme Archives.

This list is community-driven and far from complete. If you know of a resource we have missed, or spot a broken link, get in touch via rafeblandford.com.

Preservation Projects

Community-led preservation efforts: curated indexes, source-code mirrors and software archives. The starting point for anyone exploring the wider Symbian and J2ME scene.

Running Symbian Today

Custom firmware, essential patches, service replacements and modern clients — the practical stuff you need to actually keep a Symbian phone usable in 2026. Most of this is maintained by a small handful of dedicated developers.

Custom firmware

  • Reborn CFW — symbuzzer’s modern custom firmware for Nokia N8 and E7 — adds HTTPS support, replaces defunct services, and ships an updated on-device app store. Builds are released under 2026 date stamps.
  • Delight Custom Firmwares (downloads) — Full Delight CFW download index: N8, 808 PureView, 700, 701, 603, C6-01, C7, E7, X7, Oro — latest Belle FP2 build and device-specific releases.
  • Delight Custom Firmwares (blog) — Original Delight project Blogspot with version history, changelogs and FAQ.

Essential patches & tools

  • nnproject — Symbian / J2ME tools hub: TLS 1.2 patches, JRT patches, KEmulator nnmod — essential for getting modern web and Java working on old hardware.
  • nnproject TLS 1.2 Support — The single most important install for a 2026 Symbian user: System SSL patch (v17, Oct 2025), MBedTLS (v1.3.1, Nov 2025) and Java SSL (v1.4.5, Jan 2025) with bundled SHA-2 certificates.
  • nnchan TLS mirror — Russian mirror of the nnproject TLS patch downloads.

Service replacements & modern clients

  • Map Loader — Working back-end for Nokia Maps since the official servers shut down.
  • VK4ME / Kutegram — Modern Symbian clients for VK and Telegram by curoviyxru.
  • JTube — Invidious-backed YouTube client for Symbian / J2ME; works from S60v3 through Belle / 808. Repo archived Mar 2025 but binaries remain downloadable.
  • Telegram for Symbian (BASSTeam) — Symbian Web Runtime Telegram client with actively tagged releases.
  • Wunderland — “Nokia Store revised” — reconstructed Ovi / Nokia Store collections for Symbian and MeeGo.
