Next Gen Hors D'oeuvre 3: Frozen Bubble

Published by at

Another day, another great game for Next Gen N-Gage compatible phones. This time it's the turn of Frozen Bubble, an excellent and totally free puzzle game inspired by Puzzle Bobble (aka Bust-A-Move). A new high resolution S60 version of the game has recently been released which makes full use of Next Gen phones' larger screens.

Next Gen Hors D'oeuvre 3: Frozen Bubble

Frozen Bubble for S60 3rd EditionWhat is it?

A free arcade puzzle game based on the classic Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) series, but with completely original graphics and levels. You have to match up three or more bubbles of the same colour, and when you do they fall off the screen along with any bubbles clinging to them. To win a level, you have to clear the screen of bubbles.

Frozen Bubble is quite unusual, it's an open source game so anyone can download the game's source code and modify it if they want to. This has meant that the game is available on a huge range of computers and phones including Symbian S60 3rd Edition, the platform used by Next Gen N-Gage compatible phones.

Why should I get it?

Because it plays really well, it's totally free, and it features cute animated penguins.

Note that you can only play this in vertical mode, partly because the game itself involves vertical gameplay.

You can read All About Symbian's review of Frozen Bubble here.

You can see a video of Frozen Bubble running on an N95 at the Unofficial Nokia Gaming Blog.
