The world's first mobile MMORPG Tibia Micro Edition has just gone through the 10,000 subscriber barrier, with another 30,000 users playing the non-premium edition of the game. Despite its rather old client, TibiaME has apparently managed to more than double its userbase since January 2009. You can get the original TibiaME client from Ovi Store right now, and the long-awaited high resolution client should be finally putting in an appearance later this year.

Regensburg, 27 August 2009 — CipSoft, the independent German developer and publisher of online games released its latest numbers on TibiaME. The first MMORPG for mobile phones reaches its next milestone as the subscriber base now numbers more than 10,000 players.

“TibiaME is online since 2003 and it has always performed quite well. However, the exponential growth, which we are experiencing at the moment, is a new league.” says Benjamin Zuckerer, responsible Product Manager for TibiaME.

In 2008, TibiaME more than doubled its subscriber base, followed by another very successful first six months in 2009. Especially the cooperation with one of Indonesia’s biggest mobile network providers had a significant impact on sales. “105% growth since January 2009 is a rather promising development.” admits Andreas Weikl, Marketing Manager for CipSoft. “Altogether, TibiaME now has an active player base of around 40,000 players. As far as we know, TibiaME is therefore not only the first but by now as well the biggest mobile MMORPG in the world.”

CipSoft keeps updating TibiaME every 6 months with new content. In addition to these content updates, CipSoft is already working on a new client version, high resolution graphics and the release for other major mobile platforms. “We are quite optimistic, that all these projects will help TibiaME to grow further and to become the most popular mobile MMORPG worldwide.” says Zuckerer.
