Winners of Mobile Games Innovation Challenge announced

Nokia's recent game concept competition has now had its top three winners announced: Ghostwire by A Different Game took the top €40,000 prize, Melokey by Jadestone and C4M got the €20,000 second prize, and last but not least was the plucky British entrant Watchers by Eclipse Interactive which wins €10,000. The money will go towards developing the games further, and all the winners get "pre-production contracts", whatever that means. Presumably though we may see one or more of these published on Nokia phones at some point in the future.

Here are the official descriptions of each game:

Ghostwire - Ghostwire is a casual collection and adventure game, where you use your mobile phone to communicate with ghosts. Your mobile phone is used as a medium to find and collect ghosts that exist around you.

Melokey - Melokey is a music game for mobile phones where you will learn to master songs and play them against others in-game characters and competitors to win the hearts of your fans. Once you’ve got the hang of how to master the play interface via the immersive single player campaign, you can start playing your own favorite music - not just on your own but together with friends if you like.

Watchers - Watchers is a conspiracy adventure game that uses Nokia Maps and other real world tools to find locations. Players must explore these locations to uncover clues and use all their wits, and any means necessary, to find out who they are, why they are trapped, and who’s behind it all. It’s supported with episodic gameplay and offers players the chance to provide content to challenge other fellow conspiracy theorists.
