On monday it's time for the Evening with S60 London. However as things do not kick off until 7:30pm and as the AAS team are in town we thought we would hold an informal get together before the event in a local pub. So from 5:30pm or so we'll be in the Windmill pub which is just a few minutes away from the Nokia Flagship Store.
In an extended edition of the All About Symbian Podcast (Insight #42) we reflect on the announcements out of last week's Nokia Remix Event in London. There's some a general discussion of the tone of the event, but the meat of the podcast focuses on Nokia's first S60 touch handset, the Nokia 5800 MusicXpress, before moving on to Nokia's new Comes with Music service.
...In the UK Mobile Choice Consumer Awards, apparently. It won best phone and best smartphone, although best camera phone was also Symbian OS-powered, the awesome Samsung i8510 - of which more in an editorial tomorrow. 'Reader's choice' went to the iPhone - of course(!) Here's the full list of winners.
Only two and a half weeks until the Symbian Smartphone Show in London, then. Which promises to be the most interesting one for years, what with the Symbian Foundation and competition from RIM, Apple, Google, etc. Anyway, there's a new Flickr group set up for you to share photos taken at the show, you might want to bookmark it and contribute your own photo-finds. There will also be an official AAS photo stream from the event, as usual, of course. More details to come...

Today, in London, at its Remix event, Nokia formally launched its Comes with Music service offering. Comes with Music (CwM) lets you buy a Nokia device that includes a year of unlimited access (downloads) to tracks from the Nokia Music Store. After the year is up you can keep any previously downloaded music. CwM will launch first in the UK later this month on the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music, with the Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia 5800 Xpress Music to follow in due course. Read on for more details.
Nokia's next regular Connected Worlds event in Second Life will be held on Sept 25th, at 11am Second Life time (so 7pm for UK readers). The focuses this time around will be on Virtual Communities, with five of the top communities in Second Life joining the attendees in the Wulfenbach airship, which is conveniently moored to Nokia's Island.
Nokia will be holding an Evening with S60 in London the night before the Symbian Smartphone Show. It is a chance to see the newest S60 devices, get one-one-one demos and meet other S60 enthusiasts. The event will be held at Nokia's Flagship Store in Regent Street on October 20th between 7:30 and 10:00 pm. You need to register here if you want to attend the event.
Today, in an online event, Nokia summarised and demonstrated its recent additions to the Ovi.com service offering: Ovi Suite - a PC software offering media management and phone sync, Files on Ovi - an online file storage and remote access to PC files, and Ovi Sync - a service which syncs contacts, calendar events and notes to Ovi.com. Yesterday's N79 and N85 launches were different in that there was no physical event - the whole thing was virtual. Leaving aside the preview day and annoying leaks, does the use of a virtual launch represent a successful new style for Nokia? Ewan thinks so and was quite impressed, reckoning that Nokia has found their own 'voice'.
Ewan watched Reset Generation's creator at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival and then sat down in a cosy corner to interview him - it turns out that RG is the tip of the iceberg - Scott Foe has a vision where every game will work (and generate income) on every static or mobile device, using piracy as the main means of distribution. Radical stuff.
As we bid Ewan farewell as he girds his loins and heads off into the thick of the Edinburgh Fringe for another year, he explains some of his must-have phone apps and services to help get him through 25 days of mobile journalism. Good thing he's got a meaty data tariff, I say...
