For those of you from Cebu, Philippines:

Semicon @ SM Cebu doesnt have the new software yet, though Manila already does. Cebu just hasnt downloaded the new one yet 😊 Cant wait!!! Well while I was at semicon did a little shopping and bot a car P800 holder 😊
Philippines- Metro Manila

Upgrades available at Smartnet, Makati & SE Showroom in SM West's Cyberzone. Done in 1 and a half hours. I think there are other SE showrooms, just don't know their locations.

Semicon i think will have their upgrades this week. But their Podium branch has the least queue.
Sayan pare, I was just in Manila last week after Baguio. Where is Smartnets office in Makati? I stayed at New World hotel 😞 If I only knew then...

hey, does anyone have any info about when a firmware update would be available in the U.S. or what firmware came with the phones, or even how to check the firmware. Any help would be greatly appreciated

anthonyjcrocks,

I went to the SE service centre at Park-In Commercial Centre yesterday but they said for chinese version p800, there's no upgrade yet. What language version is your p800? Is it better to go to the service centre at Leighton Centre? Please advise. I'm so confused and totally lost. Thanks.

Johnny

I had mine upgraded this week. And I have the same weird problem again..

When I purchased my P800 internal browser only displayed Wap pages, it said it couldn't find any viewers for HTML pages, so I had it flashed and this problem was solved... But when I upgraded to R2D I have this problem again 😞(

That's weird. But off-course you can always try Opera. Or perhaps your provider blocks HTML sites on a Wap GPRS account.

I didn't have a chance to update it yet, my service-centre claims they don't have it yet :-? :-?

But if you were here after your Holy Week Baguio trip with ST@RR, then they were still closed. They resumed office on Monday April 21. I updated mine at Cyberzone SM West coz they were open during Holy Week. Black Saturday to be exact.

@Everyone- this is a new feature i like about the firmware upgrade. Before, during a GPRS session, you cannot make or receive calls or even do SMS. You'll have to disconnect your session for SMS to kick in. Now it's flawless!

Nosferatu,
I've problem since day 1 to use maxis csd (wap connection) with built in browser 😞 It gets connected but cannot display the pages (both wap and www). Ericserve & Maxis can't find solution as well. I hope R2D will solve the problem.

Went to Semicon at SM and they told me they got the new R2D software already but there is something wrong with their download and they can upgrade anyones fone yet 😞 Dang...

Hi Suhaime,

welcome aboard!!! it's nice to have u around dude!!!
anyway, do upgrade your firmware soon... and if u still got the same prob perhaps we could meet up...

p/s: drinks on you... heheheh...

Got my phone back after three hours with Carphone Warehouse in Oxford Street. All new versions are installed. I backed up the device using 1.4.2 of the desktop software and restored when I got the phone back.

Restore worked fine first time. All new features are still there, all version numbers are intact, all dialup and network setting were restored. Everything is as it was but with all the new stuff, just as it should be.

My conclusion - ignore warnings of doom and gloom. SE are doing this right. Restoring after an upgrade does not lose anything, at least not in my case.

Simon 😃

I solved the problem 😊)) I noticed it worked properly with another operator. So I understood there has something with GPRS settings, I uninstalled all wap and internet settings, installed new ones with different combinations, it took very long. I don't know what change I made but It works 😊

I got my P800 updated today but when I checked the hp's system info, I noticed I didn't get any CDA code ref. Has SE forgotten to upload something crucial?

Just got word that there is anUpgrade problem here in the Philippines. They experienced a "Page cannot be displayed" and a "Phone not compatible" error after the upgrade. Someone also succesfully upgraded the phone but CDA disappeared also same as yours Ghazilie.

Hi all.

Just wanted to let anyone who may be living in The Hague that I called The Phone Shop Den Haag (070 427 1686) this morning and asked about the upgrade. They told me the latest version was available, but they couldn't guarantee that the phone would be ready in a day. They said that if I took it in today they would have it ready tomorrow or maybe Monday. Cost: 25-30 euro. Hope this is helpful to someone.

Greetings from The Hague 😃

Thanks for the INFO!!! anyway the upgrade supposed to be free if u have warranty!!! and for each phone it'll only take 2hours max to do it...

From Philippines here. Just had my fone upgraded yesterday. Took them 3 hours to do it. Everythings working fine 😊

Hi,

Just upgraded my p800 to version RD2. This version is much better and faster than the previous one. Especially the picturebook is much faster.

😃 😃

Ok I'm sure I'm being a numb skull but I can't find list of SE service centres in UK so that I can get the R2D upgrade. :silly:

Anyone care to steer me in the right direction?

cheers

Andy

Hi. I finally got my upgraded phone from Semicon (Philippines) after waiting for 7 days!!! 😮 Anyway, they initially had problems with their software so it took so much longer for them to upgrade the firmware. Anyway, everything is working perfectly, I didn't do a restore from my back-up. Instead, I just synchronized my contacts, calendar, task, notes/jotter and then reinstalled all 3rd party software (except for BugMe, coz I heard some folks are having problems with this program after the upgrade). Tedious task, especially recategorizing all my contacts, but I just didn't want to risk having problems with the phone (after reading some posts here in the message boards) after waiting so very long for this upgrade.
I am so very happy now, reunited once again with my beloved P800. Oh, by the way, for those who have the Mobipocket reader...your PID number will change after the upgrade so you won't be able to open books that you bought from Mobipocket. You will need to log in your account and put in your new PID# then redownload the books into your phone.

8) Thanks for the INFO...

The system restore didn't work for me.. I did as one of our members did just sync the Outlook files to the phone.. BT recognition was fine as well.. I was almost set to do a system reset because all the programs that were installed before upgrading still had shortcuts in the phone memory. I couldn't remove some of those icons because the system couldn't find a root file.. Kinda like the WIN9X systems bugk where certain listings under "Add Remove Programs" can not be deleted if the files are not present. One member reported to seeing 10.2 megs free in the internal memory after reset. I only saw 6 megs after I got my unit back. I was under the assumption that the flash forced a system reset.. Not sure about that one. But if it is the case, has SE boosted up the internal memory upgrade with this R2D upgrade?
