No doubt this phone is the best choice for someone who's looking for an improved version of the 7650. I've felt in love with this phone.... I wonder when it will come out in stores....
Nokia 6600, the 7650 successor?
Just noticed that camera is unprotected competly. scratches and dust on the lenses are guaranteed. Or is there any kind of cover the phone comes with?
I've heard somebody mentioning that there was a little protecting plastic in the lens, but from the pics I saw I couldn't figure out no plastic. It should be protected as 6650, but... nothing's perfect, huh?
it's just that this is quite important,
no point using a camera when it's totally scratched right?
Nokia are really losing it these days with their phones. Not that the 6600 isn't a reasonable phone - but no pop-port, seriously? 😮
They did the same thing with the 7650 - release a phone that resonably aged (not babies) people will like and provide no decent support for using it in the car. I mean even the other new phone, the fashion-accessory 3100 has a decent hard wired car kit. :x
This all seems a bit bizarre since Nokia are trying to sell this as a business phone. Get real Nokia, what the business world needs is a phone like the 6310i with a big screen and Symbian, not a stupid toy.
Before I get flamed... I KNOW that you can use the bluetooth car kit with the 6600 but you still have to trail a stupid cable between the cigarette lighter and the phone to power it, and that this will be necessary since bluetooth has a tendancy to run the battery down much more quickly.
Come on Nokia, get yer act together. The P800 is serious competition.

Is just like the 3650, I've talked with some of this phone owners and they say that eventough it seems the lens is vulnerable is it VERY DIFFICULT to cause some harm to it.

What need of pop port do you have??
RADIO? ---> You've got the Nokia Radio headset..
CAMERA? ---> Built in...
MP3 PLAYER? ---> Built in....
The only accessory imaginable could be a FLASH LIGHT.... IMO
that's good news!! :P

After spending 500 euros on a phone, I don't want to be spending even more on a radio. It should have been built in like the SX1.

But no improvement over the 3650? We're yet to see a pic, but I don't imagine it will be a whole lot improved. We know the resolution is still the same 😞

mp3's in MONO? What a waste of time.

True, but the screen makes quite a good light by itself 😊
6600 is a nice phone but we also have to think that nokia produces phones that we should replace after a couple of months because there is another new and much better phone in the market. i have been using nokia for 7 years now and tried almost all of their models (3810, 6110, 6150, 8810, 8850, 8890, 8250, 7110, 9110, 9110i, 9210, 6510, 8910, and 7650). recently, i switched to SE P800 because i am fed with this NOKIAMANIA.
Isn't the radio headset a pop-port accessory. Then how can you use it with the 6600?

no u can't use this radio headset thingy on ur 6600
cos nokia designed that for Nokia 3100 and Nokia 6100
even for Nokia 6100 u must have certain Firmware version to get it to work (got it from Nokia's site)

Why are you talking about resolution? Do you think that's the only way to improve picture quality? No. What we need is to get rid of those VGA-cameras (VGA-camera resolution is 640x480) and put better camera on the phones. Asia already has a megapixel camera built in for cellphone (Waiting them to come Europe).
In my opinion the current VGA resolution (640 x 480) is quite enough for phone-to-phone messaging via email or MMS, but if you want to make even 10 x 13 cm prints on paper, then higher resolutions are a must.
I haven't still got very excited about MMS messages, even though I have two camera/MMS phones (N7650 and SE T610), but when camera phones start to have good enough technology for high-quality prints, then I'll be very interested. I don't necessarily need 3-4 or more megapixels, but enough for 10 x 13 cm prints.
One local image laboratory recommends following resolutions for different print sizes:
10 x 13 cm: 1024x768 - 1280x960 pixels
13 x 17 cm: 1024x768 - 1600x1200 pixels
20 x 27 cm: 1280x960 - 2048x1536 pixels

N6600 looks to be a great phone but i don't think it will replace my SE P800.
Its not meant to replace the p800 and the p800 is not competition to the 6600 and vice versa.
ya i guess you're right.............. P800 n N6600 are quite different.

Tell you what mate, read the rest of my post.
I don't give a monkeys about radios/cameras/mp3 players, my point was that you need the pop-port to use the CARK-126, or any other speakerphone handsfree kit which can be hardwired to the car and charge the phone. This is crucial if nokia want the business market to adopt this phone in the same way it adopted the 62/6310/i
Agree totally with this!! Although not important for everyone, I personally would LOVE for this (and all future) phone to come with a car-kit connector! What ARE Nokia playing at??
Well Going back to original subject of 'does it replace 7650' It does... and it doesnt. History lesson here guys. The first official 'business' class phone was a 6XXX Series. replaced by a 7110, that was replaced by 6110. HOWEVER 6110 lacked some features the 7110 had. Then 6110 was Overtaken by 6310/i. So in theory after a lil market analysis we should be seeing another 7XXX series to replace the 6600 aprox 14 months after 6600. Its got these features due to nokias Unsuccesful 6XXX business phone [forgot which 6XXX it was]. but not many people know about that one. so this in theory is a second successor to the 7650 for business use. Obviously from a symbian point of view this its first successor. so after all that. Yep its more of a 'Business' replacment. But it is designed to replace. 7650 is no longer in production. Because of market saturation. so they had to 'peg it out' [Market term for letting the saturation 'dry off' a little] so the 6600 will sell more. Expect prices to be about 10-15% lower than 7650 in accordance with release times. [IE the price for the 7650 initially on new release is about 10% higher than than the 6600 will be etc...].
Hope I made it clear! 😮

Don't want to nit-pick but the "history lesson" is completely wrong.
The correct order is:
Nokia 6110/6130 etc
Nokia 6150
Nokia 7110
Nokia 6210
Nokia 6310
From what i've seen and heard the initial launch price of the 6600 is higher than that of the 7650, at least in the UK. I picked up my 7650 for 110 during its first month of release on a low user T-mobile contract. Thanks mainly to the recent price hikes here, you can't even pick up the dated Samsung T100 for that price on Orange! 😞
Hand set only price is less. But now phones are not so subsidised by networks as much as they used to be, they'll naturally be more expensive on contract. But handset only. Phone order is correct.. I just didn't make it clear enough. There were 2 6 series business phones to replace 7 series business phone. Then another 7 series came out to replace them (7650) then an unsuccessfull 6 was bought out making 6600 technically second replacement to 7650. If u follow.
