Launch ?

Spoke to Nokia yesterday, found out the release date over here (New Zealand) is "within the next two months" .."due to waiting for the network operator to incorporate it"

BAH.

But not as bad as the n-gage - "due for release at the end of February"

nah cables not possible since it has no jack to connect. neways i dont have BT on my pc. i connected via ir. all i did was install the pc suite and i was prayin a lil wee bit 😊 tht it wud work and it did hehehe. and i jus tried and it worked. also but yday i have formatted my disk and now i havent installed the 6600 pc suite as yet. so when i do it again i am hopin it works then as well. ppl who have problems connectin via IR lemme know, i think i can jus help.

hi guys, i got mine with local warranty on tuesday. it has not been launched in singapore although some local dealers are selling them. according to singtel, they are unable to configure the MMS to work so there is a temporary halt to the launch. cost me S$835.

hey ppl with the 6600 can u ppl plz post all the screenshots of all the 3 themes from nokia. cuz frm wht i see they are a lil diff from all country phones. theme 3 is the one i saw online but its not there on the phone.

Cant the 3650 have themes like the 6600? Or is the Symbian version of the 3650 not capable of themes like the 6600?

would be good if it was possible. but then the 6600 does not have that bar line which is of 6 colors like on the 7650 & 3650. i think the symbian os is diff the 7650 & 3650 are symbian 60 and 6600 is symbian 7. cud be wrong here.

The 7650 and 3650 run Symbian OS 6.1 and Series 60 1.x , The 6600 runs Symbian 7.0s and Series 60 2.0.Themes is a standard Series 60 2.0 feature.

themes is defi a +point on the phone as far as the menu looks goes. neways cant have nething eh . still waitin for screenshots.

Its not a hardware issue but software on a device like the 3650 running an embeded OS is not a small issue.Unless the 3650 is upgraded to Series 60 2.0 it will never recieve Themes support,at least not in that form.

There are third party applications like sLauncher or WilldSkinz that can give some sort of themes support but its not the real thing.My guess is that developer can code an application that will enable full skining/themes support but it will never be so integrated with the OS as 6600 themes support is.

Man, that is really dissapointing 😞 I hoped 3650 could also support such themes. I dont like the SLauncher, cause its not so integrated like themes on 6600 (it even changes the standby screen and battery/signal indicators). It would be nice to see some new colors on my phone after 8 months using it. Like a fresh new look. Too bad. 😞

PS: still keeping my fingers crossed, that Nokia releases some sort of themes for 3650/7650. 😎

It seems that Nokia has done nokias again.
The theme format seems to be confidential/prop. at this time (check forum.nokia.com) 😡

As far as i now, they are in .sis file format, it has few files inside: theme index, background pic, wallpaper etc.

Look at paragraph 4.4 from this document, i think it should be possible to have Themes on 3650/7650.

themes will be great when people learn how to make new icons... as a matter of fact i like some of the sx1 icons. i think that in theory it is possible to make icons like those and put them in a 6600 theme. any thoughts?

wht are the prices around bombay official. in juhu its for $620 exact with bill and 2 yrs warrenty. ive heard tht in PUNE its sellin for under $555. ?????

Expansys now have them in, ready to ship today...I got an email 15 mins ago offering me it for �310 + VAT as I was a pre-order customer (remember ages ago when they had the price mistake!)...it's going to be up for �329 + VAT...

if you look at the live deliveries page you can see their warehouse received them at 13.15 today, but next to it says "all sold" - guessing in pre-orders...

I won't be taking them up though as I spoke to T-Mobile yesterday and they are confident they'll be able to do it for free to me soon as they release it...

and one more thing, I'm a bit gutted cos I bought a 128MMC for �22 which I thought was cheap...now on ebuyer.com they've got in 256MB for �50!! might have to get one of those now, cos I'm not forking out the stupid money for a 512MB card!

finally they have stock neways, i dont think the 256mb cards work on the 6600. i heard a cpl pf ppl tryin it and not being able to use. the max usable is 128mb only as far as i know. try it b4 buyin its on ur risk orelse.

Not all brands of MMC with storage capacities aboce 128 MB work.Search the for working and tested brands.

im using infrared for connection of my 6600 to my pc. its working great so far.

yea ir works flawlessly on my pc as well. glad i dint take BT since my BT on the 7650 doesnt nemore. im better off with IR. IR rules, dont care if its old.
