Bluetooth - 7650 -> PC Problem solved in the WidComm stac

Am now using BlueManger 2.0 which seemed to cure my problem of mrouter not finding a connection.! Now I can access Nokia Suite! 😃 only problem is Blue Manger is a little buggy and tends to crash in XP and cause probs shutting down.

I have a story to share between using BT on T68i and 7650. At first i was using T68i with MSI BT and everything was working perfectly. Going online with GPRS, picture upload and everything ... But when i got my 7650 i paired and tried to use it's GPRS for my PC then things started not going right. Was unable to create serial port to my 7650 and etc. At that time i was still on 1.2.2.4, then upgraded to 1.2.2.15 but still couldn't work then downgraded again.
But right after reading the threads i tweak here and there ... then hooray my 7650 was finally connecting to my PC. But when i wanted to use GPRS, i noticed the Bluetooth Modem is no longer in the list of my modem and creating a BluetoothConnection (DUN) was useless with a Bluetooth Modem driver. So i decided to uninstall and reinstall my 1.2.2.4 but still no help.
Finally i decided to format and re-install my XP, then re-install 1.2.2.4 and pairing it to my t68i for GPRS. And voila! it's working again. So as i'm typing this i'm going to try to 7650 again. If it fails then 7650 really lets me down 😞 Keeping my fingers crossed.

Blue Tooths Drivers arnt very easy to uninstall from XP.,
I use a Freeware program called RegCleaner which I find helps to remove all traces from the registry when upgrading or trialling different versions of drivers. You can download it from www.jv16.org saves reformating /reinstalling XP

Sorted ,,. updated Blue manger 2.0 , trick is to get mrouter find the right port wait a few seconds and you should get a connection. sometimes you have to keep ticking and unticking it to reconise it.
now I can use nokia suite with BT and even use webviewer .
WirelessIRC also works well if you choose none in the settings as your connection

shane, just read the threads, u'll see some things there that will answer your question, apparently, u cud connect to pc suite, using ur bluetooth, just read my thread before this and follow the link

I have installed the new software, but in device manager it still says that the driver is v. 1.2.1.20 - is that the correct driver that enables 2way communication?

First remove the device from the system's device manager.

After uninstalling the software, try to clean the system registry manually or with some programme like reg cleaner or something, and then Install the fresh version.
That should solve the issue.

You son of a gun!!! It works beautifully, thanks heaps! I couldn't transfer images at all before!

Download Billionton's latest bluetooth drivers at

http://www.billionton.com.tw/extra/download.htm

Version 1.3.2.7.

No more problems!
Direct connection to your phone. No need to use the serial port first!

I use both Billionton and MSI bluetooth USB adapters.
The software and drivers work for both brands!

Can you help me??? mine is IVT corporation / MAVIN technology & im using its software BlueSoleil. &i still can't send anything from my Phone to my PC. I have tried ur solutions... but it didn't work... can you guys help me??? please????

just got my 7650 and got it connected to my pc using bluetooth.
it works like a charm ! 😃

but one question.
i was trying to use the widcomm/billionton software but it couldnt find my 7650 from my bluetooth places.

im using a mitsumi usb bt adaptor and the connection works fine if i were to use the sw that came together with the adaptor. (mitsumi bt suite)

am trying to connect my 7650 to my LAN and access the internet at the same time.

anyone has any ideas. btw im using win xp sp1.

thanks in advance. 😉

This is my case, when is use the CD drivers (1.2.2.4) i can use PC suite and use share the PC's internet connection with my 7650,but i'm not able to send files from my phone to my PC.If i want to send some image from Phone to PC i have to use PC suite,it's annoying!
When i use 1.2.2.15 bluetooth drivers i can do everything (send files from phone to PC,PC suite) except the internet connection sharing.
Ex: Even if i set none to WirelessIRC access points, the access point dialog pop ups every time i try to connect and of course i can't connect.
Anyone else have a similar problem?

yeah it can be a pain in the arse sometimes when certain things dont work out well. btw ghostdog, which usb adaptor are u using? when u said bt drivers, were u refering to the driver for your usb adapter?

no matter how hard i try to get the bt lan adapter (which is binded to com 5 on my comp), i am still unable to access my broadband thru ICS. followed the instructions (help) to create an incoming client but xp just doesnt want to detect my 7650. :-?

the mitsumi support page has widcomm software links (besides the mitsumi bt suite) but it doesnt work at all. Am i supposed to uninstall the prev sw first before installing the widcomm sw? well, i did but it doesnt to be working for me. Or is there something i left out? the widcomm sw would not detect my 7650 at all.

anyone out there that managed to get his/her 7650 using mitsumi / widcomm sw combi, pls help me out here. 😞

I'm using 1.2.2.16 and everything works fine (file transfers, i-sharing, etc).

To Guest:
You don't need to configure your ICS. mRouter does all the job.
By the way, i-sharing works also with IR, not only BT... 😉

yeah if only i can get my mRouter to work in the first place. :-?
i selected all the com ports for pc suite to detect my 7650 but still no go.

To GhostDog:
Damn! I had them on my web site when I released the BTIRFileWatch utility. Because a lot of people downloaded it, I had to remove it! (390 MB traffic in 3 days only by this file!). I will do something for you! 😉

To gamoid:
Usually it's COM7 you only need to check on mRouter. Anyway, since you have all COMs checked, go to "My Bluetooth Places" --> "Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood", find your device, double click on it, and then double click the "Bluetooth Serial Port". Possibly, you will take an error message, but watch the mRouter tray icon after this... 😉

First of all let me tell all of you that this thread has been very usefull (along with some other sites). When I bought my Nokia 7650 I was very happy. When I bought a USB dongle I was even more happy. Using both together made me a little less happy. I remember seeing Bluetooth bene tested on tech programs on TV and how it integrated everything so beautifully... WHAT A CRAP! Seriously if BT is going to catch on and used by the masses at really should be PnP... and not tweak it a million times and try 50.000 drivers with 25.000 different versions.

Anyway... by the end of the day everything seems to work fine. PC Suite is a big piece of crap that Nokia tested on one machine with one BT device... I've rarely seen a more unfriendly way to connect a device as with mRoute. Ticking all connections again and again? Hoping that one of them will work? What is this? I'm not trying to take a gamble here. I want the damn thing to work... AUTOMATICALLY! It's funny how the business tries to sell BT as convenient... well BT surely is a wonderful technology, but please make sure the soiftware is usable.

I guess it's being an early adaptor that complicates things... Actually you should never buy a first version of anything. But, hehe, I just need to have one... and try it. I have a lot of fun with it. So I guess I'll take the few hours tweaking and just settle... Thanks again for all the usefull and practical posts on this board!

Thanks in advance sigmacom,i hope that 1.2.2.16 solves my problem, because this is geting really anoying 😃
BTW:I'm in the process of downloading bilingotn bluetooth drivers.
I let you know if they work so that you wont have to go trough all that trouble just for me 😃
BTW2: Is it me,or MSI's website (www.msi.com.tw) is down?

At this moment I am uploading (again) 1.2.2.16 (it's 17.193.124 bytes!)
GhostDog, I will PM you when done. It will take 30-40 minutes. 😊
Hi all!

I've manage to discover what kept the Widcomm stack from accepting files from the 7650 back to the PC. Using an utility that came with my dongle (BtServerSpyLite) I've manage to discover why some of us can send info from the 7650 to the PC and others don't.

Using the Spy tool, I discovered that the bluetooth stack determines the what is the file type it's about to receive . That's why you can send a contact into your PC and not an image.

So, tweaking with the registry, I've manage to find the correct key that makes this work:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0004

In this key folder, you'll find another key, named:

"AcceptOther" <-- that (on those that cannot send files is set to '0x0000000'😉

Just set this key to 0x0000001.

Some folks actually don't have this key (AcceptOther), so that's why this worked for some and others didn't.

I just don't know about potential security risks, but I believe that if you set a notification whether to warn you about files being sent to you computer to be sufficient.
Grrrr..... I've been queitly trying to sort out my bluetooth connection for two days now, but it's really screwing with my head. No matter what i do, Nokia data suite only shows one COM port (No. 1) which it claims is infrared, something my new PC doesnt even have!

Arghhh!

What drivers are you using? I tried 1.2.2.16,they were not made specifically for the MSI BT adapter i have, and something similar happened,mRouter displayed only few ports which were unusable.

where can i download BTIRFileWatch from... i'm having the exact same problem with my connection. i've got a D-Link DBT-120 bluetooth...

😮

Hi iFAB,

I've spent a few days trying to get the MSI BT key to work (got the latest drivers, made the Registry changes), however, I'm still getting the error at bootup every time:

"Unable to start the Bluetooth stack"....

Has anyone else had this problem (98SE), and can it be solved?

Many thanks,
/Rory

I've got the latest Billionton drivers as linked to in this thread. They are Widcom version 1.3.2.7 I believe.

DataSuite just doesnt want to report the COM ports. It shows COM port 1, which shows up under device manager an "Communications Port 1" but it doesnt show any of the others (Com 3 -12) which show up in device manager as "Bluetooth Communications Port (Com xx)"

Any ideas?

hi guys.
i tried the registry changes and added acceptother but still no work.
I have a Belkin pcmcia fbt002 card and sftware version 1.2.2.4c

any idea what need to do or where to download the widcomm drivers?
