Is it possible for me to update it to a european version or can i just leave it as it is what would you recommend ?
Thanks for any help.
Hi Edd,
You can flash any language you wish into your N80. Just select one of alternative Product Codes from the Software Flash Menu of Phoenix 2006.
Cheers,
Dez
Thanks for your reply Dez, would you recommend upgrading it though,or should i remain with this software?

If you are happy with the languages available in the variant you have, you may as well leave things as is - every FW flash has the potential to brick your phone if somthing goes wrong - e.g. Computer crash, USB cable disconnect.
There seems to be a Firmware release every 6-8 weeks for the N80 at present, so you could wait until the next release, then change to a UK or Euro variant.
Thanks Dez i guess i will wait as i dont have any problems with the firmware till now, are the new firmware versions posted here or is there a link from where to check for updates? sorry for asking all these questions but all this is new to me

You will read about it on these AAS forums a few days (or less) after any new FW release... but if you find info elsewhere about any releases, feel free to start a new thead here on AAS.
I will thanks for your help! :icon14: 😊
Hi Dez, i couldnt resist to try and update my N80 and yes i went step by step and managed to update it without any problems so far, except that whils the flashing i got 'Papub information not passed to mobile' or something similar, any idea what this might mean? I would like to thanks Cash also for providing the instructions, really great job, keep it up!! :icon14:
Would it be possible to change the key with NSS and then upgrade with Nokia's updater app ?
bjarke wrote:Would it be possible to change the key with NSS and then upgrade with Nokia's updater app ?

Can someone post up a new link to the Phoenix software. I got the rest, but Rapidshre is an awful service at best of times and I can't download, despite having a premium account paid for.
Many thanks.

There are 2 Rapidshare's
Rapidshare.com and Rapidshare.de
Both require you to subscribe to their own premium service, you can't for example use a .com login on the .de site
Hi everybody,
I bought N80 because it has VoIP but when i try to login to gizmo ot voipbuster nothing happens.
I decidet that may be i should update my firmware with NSU after that i download an update trought my wireless network from its menu an version of FW was 4.0623.0.42 but again i received message "failed to register" in my sip profiles.
I read in other forums how to change my firmware but i didn't look what version I'm trying to install. When I start flashing it's tell me that i try to install an older version 3.xxxx.x.xx and phone rang the bell.
After that I bring it to nokia local service center and tell them what happens because i don't have warranty. I told them that i want SIP working. They take me 15 euro to repair it and tells me to update it trought wireless after i get home. Gess what? Of course it didn't working with SIP.
Ok now on my questions...
Is FW from N80 IE will work with SIP?
What is the latest version of N80IE FW, because i know latest version is 4.0623.0.38?
My N80 FW now is 4.0623.0.42.
Is it possible to get the same erorr if I try to install N80IE FW 4.0623.0.38, or I must wait for a newer firmware?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Enter,
even i have installed the latest IE firmware....installed Gizmo Voip.....when i tried to connect for the first time...it worked and i was able to make a successful voip call to the US. Then after when ever i tried to connect i always get this message "Unable to connect to the connection network" . I tried to contacted the Gizmo support....waiting for their response...i dont know if others are also facing this problem with Gizmo SIP....

I just checked links and they seem to be working for me 😊... maybe there was a glitch at rapidshare when you tried....
Every time I've tried, since Saturday evening, I get 'Download session expired' error messages when trying to download phoenix. This is from different PC's using different ISP's.

Working this time....must have been something up with the server when I last tried.
My mobile gave birth this morning to a very healthy V 4.0632.0.38 (Euro 1 Pearl Black) :icon14:
Thanks for everyone's help, especially Cash for the excellent instructions

No probs 😊..always happy to help 😊..
I still get the invalid file message as before. Can't understand the reasons why. It's only Phoenix, everything else downloaded ok.

I can't get phoenix to run. As soon as i run the app, i get a splash screen flash then disappear. Followed by the standard windows error dialog asking if i want to send the results to Microsoft. The previos installs steps completed as describe in the guide. Any help would be much appriciated.Thanks.
A.
I spent an entire day trying to get Phoenix to work. Then the next day i woke up and installed a fresh windows on a different partition. Installed Diego and then installed Phoenix. Flashed my phone. Everything worked perfect. I think if you had Nokia PC Suite before, you may encounter problems installing Phoenix. Should have no problems on a clean PC.
Good luck!
Are there anyone who has successful flash fom N80 4.0xxx.0.42 to N80i 4.0xxx.0.38.
Can I make flash with NSS not with phoenix?

Hi Dunarea,
I find that as long as you do all of the following you don't need to reinstall windows to (re)install a working copy of Phoenix...
1. Uninstall Phoenix, Diego, and ALL Nokia Apps using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the control panel.
2. Launch Windows Explorer and DELETE C:\Program files\Nokia (and all others folders beginning with or containing "Nokia"😉
3. Reboot the PC before trying to re-install Phoenix.

Hi,
1. Yes, you can flash with NSS, but I have never tried it myself, I prefer Phoenix.
2. You can only flash upwards and not downwards in versions of FW so the xxx in your example is more significant than the 42 to 38 bit...
e.g. You could flash from 4.0623.0.42 to 4.0632.0.38
but you cannot flash from 4.0632.0.38 to 4.0623.0.42
...And the first character of the firmware number is even more significant than the others...
e.g. You could flash from 3.0617.0.38 to 4.0001.0.10 (if it existed!),
but you could never flash from 4.xxxx.x.xx to any 3.xxxx.x.xx FW.
Hope that makes sense?
