new firmware 4/4/07!!

126 replies · 32,282 views · Started 04 April 2007

yeah, it WAS possible... but it seems some of us are now having difficulty with the new firmware...

what f/w are you on??

Right, from looking at the languages available to me (in addition to English), I ma pretty sure that used NSS to set the product code to:

0529378: EURO 1 Smooth Stainless (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese)

Good luck. Are you really sure your mm key is fixed and can't be fully configured? It seems a pointless change to me with extra programming effort for no use, whereas I can understand why "3" want to disable GSM mode and have it fixed at "dual".

I'm on 4.0707.0.7, with a brazilian product code.

Let me see if I can change on this version. How can I?
How it used to be on the older version?

thats the code Im on!!! AARGGGHHH!!!!

And yeah, Im sure... the config option usder the MM key read EXACTLY this:

top - vis radio
left - gallery
middle - slide show
right - web
sounds - on

and thats it!

and I have reinstalled it ... and thats no different... so how come, if we are both using the same codes... we have different versions of generic!! 😡

press the MM key, then go to config... and see if you have an option to change what pressing the MM key does. As default it will probably open the music player

yeah, good luck with that changelog... Ive been looking today but cant find anything.

Do you know which code your on???

Euro1??

After selecting "Configure" (down key) under MM menu I get following:

Multimedia Key: TomTom but can be set to scores of choices (activate with long press of MM key from standby)

Top: Visual Radio

Left : S60 Internet Radio

Middle: Music Player

Right: Web

Sounds: Off

All of the options can be set to almost any function or application on the N80. I can't understand why some of you don't have that.

yeah, thats how I had the layout BEFORE upgrading to .7... now I dont have that...

Im gonna have on last reinstall try with bbracers code of 0539548 (EURO 2 Patina Bronze Internet Edition) and see if that makes a difference.

BBRacer... wtf you doing with a patina bronze code!! 😉 I hope it sorts it for me tho!

The only other thing I can think of which may be different is that I did a full backup (sans memory card) before the upgrade, and then restored from it afterwards. After putting the memory card back in & re-installing some of the apps I'd added (eg Large Time & S60 internet radio), the MM key settings were then as before. Fortunately TomTom and most other apps didn't need re-installing.

Sadly the US version hasn't been released yet so I haven't been able to upgrade my n80ie. Anyone else in the US upgraded - did it show up in NSU or did you change product codes via NSS?

aye, maybe thats it because I am now upgraded with the same code that BBracer used but I dont have changeable MM key options. 😞

AH well... not a big problem really... just needs me to think a bit more for a while whislt I reconfigure my brain instead of my phone.

I upgrade to 4.07 with product code 0541542 (Hong Kong) and had a few problems reinstalling apps. I cant get my wifi to connect to my Apple's wlan with wep. I keep getting no gateway reply.

The US version has been released. I upgraded my US model N80 to the new firmware just fine yesterday. Like others, I cannot receive responses to network info codes (checking my minute balance with #646# on T-Mobile doesn't get a response). My multimedia key is working and configurable and a long press does go to the music player.

well mine is fine im happy

(long press is settings - as i set it ages ago)

in configure i can set all inc sound

all i can think off is after the fimware update i restored from memory card to get all my stuff/setings back

what did you lot do?

folks,

i'm also on the same Brazilian code for the N80ie as our friend just a few posts above.

this new firmware lets me change the multimedia key as usual...

i have noticed that the phone is a little bit faster when you try to access any menu settings (my own, menu settings and alike).

has anyone noticed that??

other than that i'm interested in battery time... i "THINK" it might be improved a little, has anyone noticed anything?

thanks!

cyberlipe,

What did you did after the update?
I don't have the option to configure MM long press...
Maybe a restore can put this option back, let's discover.

Phone is running faster, for sure! I have noticed this too.

before the upgrade,

i already had MM to music player...

i did the upgrade , then, restored my back up, and the mm key is on music plyer again.. but after reading about it on the forum, i tried to change the settings and i did it...

so, mine is fine.

yes, the phone is faster
i hope i gain a day on battery life.
c ya

is there a EMEA version of the firmware? im only seeing APAC to download. I want the actual files, i don't want to use the nokia update tool. my phones a rm-91 prototype and im more comfortable doing it myself, done it multiple times already. Don't think the nokia update tool would even find the firmware with it being a RM-91.

find out the product code via NSS then type in the cheker on the nokia updater thing on there website

it will tell you if it will reconize it it will either give you firmware details new or old

nss doesnt work on vista anywayz, at least im not having any luck.

bbracer16valver wrote:did you change the product code at all?

WHY USE VISTA :icon13: :icon13: :icon13: :icon13: :icon13:

how can i change my product code, nss does not run on vista, i just want the flash files, EMEA version, i have APAC, but want EMEA ;/

I can also change the multimedia key to whatever I want.
This is what happened:
I upgraded twice. the first time I upgraded I check the multimedia key, it was not configurable. Then I noticed that I missed the kodak app. I thought if I reinstall the firmware again, may be it comes back! Then I did the second upgrade (yesterday). The kodak did not comeback and I began to restore my backup from memory card. Today... I am reading this forum and noticed that some of you have the option to configure the multimedia key. I open my multimedia key setup and there you go! I have that option too!!! I can config it.
I write here what I installed from yesterday until today, may be one of the things I done caused the key to be configurable again:
1- restored backup of my phone from memory card to the phone.
2- Internet radio
3- Gmail
4- google maps
5- Widsets
6- Yahoo go
7- Eqo Mobile
8- Fring
9- Barcode
10- Podcasting

PS: I have also noticed that my multimedia key is setup on "Downloads!" program. I opened that program lot of times and I also downloaded Catalogs from there. May be it is something to do with this key as I did not set the key to point to "Downloads!".
Anyway: Is there anyone who has the Kodak mobile application for 3rd series?

i have same problem with multimedia key from version before and now is the same thing with last version of firmware. i don't understand why you write so many pages explain. this problem and what you install or you don't install. this is simply a bug and wait for futre upgrades, you can do 2 things
1. forget about that bug
2. try reinstall firmware
and that's it this bug don't have connection what somebody install first or
what product code you have on your phone 😊

Hi all,
I have just bought a 2nd hand N80 yesterday. I have installed the newest Firmware
V 4.0707.0.7
But my browser seems to defer from the IE edition, What i get are web pages in words, which somehow makes me disappointed. Is there a step which I have left out or an additional software has to be installed?
