I wonder if the album art issue has been fixed and that songs and albums now retain the images without the need for the picture to reside in the gallery ?

if you have a pc you cud use an app called mp3tag, its free and it puts the art into the mp3 file so werever ur music goes the art is always with it, not two seperate files
Does it involve a weekend of restoring my apps and settings or does it have the new technology whose acronym I can't remember?

I understand this but why should I have to do this when Music Player says it does it for me. My N73 did this without any problem. I love my N95, but this is a schoolboy error on Nokia's part. Here's hoping it gets fixed.
There are two ways AFAIK that images can be used with MP3s:
- Embed the image(s) into each MP3 file, or
- Save the image elsewhere and have the relevent MP3s refer to those files.
I choose the former which, albeit makes each MP3 file bigger, has always worked for me.
The only song album cover bug thing I've noticed with v20 is this... if I open up the music player either by holding the multimedia button or opening the app from the menu, and the last song had an album cover on it, then it will show the album cover. However, if I open the music player by pressing the play/pause button, and the last song had a picture on it, it won't show the image or any other image. I have to close the app and reload it before it does.
Has anyone else noticed this?
BTW looking forward to v21 😊

it's available already at my local Nokia Service point, overhere in Holland . . .
Henklbr, there's just one thing I'm a tiny bit worried about: does it retain the video editor? Of course, there's no reason why they should remove it but they did on the 8GB. I was only able to use the video editor following the demand paging update, and I think it's brilliant, so it would be a shame to lose it now.
And did it retain your contacts and settings?
Hi there
Where can I get the update from? I am trying to get it from http://www.europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate however it is not available yet. any idea?
Cheers
odd that the service centres get it and give it out to clients before it is officially released.
out of interest, i have updated my phone to v20, but put the product code back to be o2's do i need the change to product code to be generic again to get the update?

Yes you do, as the software update program reads the current product code from your phone.
It's not really surprising that service centres get firmwares before they're released to the website. That doesn't mean the service centre version are "pre release" it just means the website is lagging behind the actual release dates.
just tired it online as i have nothing better to do and it isn't yet out. 😞 i want it now....... :P
I love it when new F/W gets released...... I'm soooo looking forward to the torrent of posts with alarming similarity to this (below), as accompanies every F/W update:
"I've tried NSU but it says my F/W is current, how do I get V21.... KTHX"
I know 3Shirts loves those posts too, from last time around......

Ah... yes, but it's all now gathered together in a neat, pocket-sized, convenient, easy-to-open sticky howto.
Maybe better post the url now, while it's quiet...?
remember we once were all like this 😊

Your not wrong. I have the link to the sticky already in my clipboard
Guys, please...
So could the Dude from the NL pls inform us whether the VideoEditor is still on board + any other pitfalls after the jump to V21? Thx!
I just got the v21 flash image, and recently flashed my N95 with success to v21.0.016.
And I can confirm that the Video Editor is in there.
What I have noticed so far
Menu and Gallery seem to be faster
YouTube.com works great, tried miniclip.com etc, basic flash files work fine, large file sized ones such as games dont load and display a broken Flash icon.
Also someone reported that Sound output seems to be improved, however I have not checked this out yet.
on rapidshare, am i allowed to post links?
when will this be avaliable via the nokia site then?

And did you have to re-install all your apps, contacts, and settings, or has it got the new technology (whose name I can't remember) that makes this unnecessary?
racecoursepete wrote:on rapidshare, am i allowed to post links?
Doubt it mate, the flash image is leaked from Nokia, its not officially released yet so I suppose it breaches their copyright and Intellectual Property. And AFAIK, you dont have any rights to have flash images for any firwmare or phone for Nokia, not sure on this one.
neilhoskins wrote:And did you have to re-install all your apps, contacts, and settings, or has it got the new technology (whose name I can't remember) that makes this unnecessary?
Nope, phone was completely clean upon completion of FW update.
Its been released in nokia service centers in the UK, and some other countries. If you go to a nokia service center, they will update it to the latest one.
So as its not yet on the online updater, I assume its just nokia being slow.
Taken from nokiausers.net http://www.nokiausers.net/
It should be hitting NSU soon, for now it's only at walk-in service points. It's reported that all generic Euro and Middle Eastern product codes are allowed the update, as well as several local (euro) variants are also being made available.
To see the list of product IDs, that the NSUs will update, head on over there.
well according to this

the second from last post its on nsu
edit: never mind it's on there for test codes and some regions. some say sunday?
anyone know if auto rotation is built in now?
