OK, now installed and have added myself as a user, however, when I run it I get the following errors>>>

The following errors occurred during the loading and initialisation

of TSS Product API. Phoenix will not be fully functional.

Please reinstall Phoenix to fix the problem.

Could not pass connection object to Product API.

Could not start Security Check feature.

Could not set Product Detection mode.<<<<<<<<<<<

Then the following error>>>>>>>>>>>>

Coult not initialise product polling

HRESULT 0x80040154 (-2147221164)
This means:
Class not registered<<<<<<<<<<<<

Then I get the login screen.

I have not attempted to work out how to use it yet, but will have a go this weekend.

Too late now as I have to be up very early in the morning.

dog-man

I had the same problem.

Assuming windows XP ...

Go to add / remove programs in control panel & uninstall every piece of nokia s/w that is installed ... ... look out for the multiple cable drivers, they're not listed as nokia.

Install Diego_3_09.msi and the other bit of software that comes with it 😉

Might need to reboot ..

Install phoenix_service_sw_2007_4_6_170.exe ... doing the dongle "trick".

You should then need to reboot ... and after the reboot a load of s/w registration will take place (as part of the phoenix install) - you will get a few error messages, just click ok.

(don't forget to replace the .exe and the DLL for the pheonix s/w)

- at this point, i'd suggest intstalling the latest version of nokia software updater to update the cable drivers

Then install RM-159_EURO_21.0.016_v5.0.exe ..

Connect phone

Launch Phoenix ... File -> Manage connections.

Add new one - select USB

File -> Scan Product

.. the rest i forget - but it was from the "Flashing" drop down and it was "obvious"

I will try and follow this, but I did uninstall Everything Nokia and also ran the Nokia cleaner tool. 3.5 I think it was?? I am tired so memory is failing.
Got to goto bed soon as I have to be up very early, but am having a few last attempts before I hit the sack.

dog-man

I have now installed NSU and I no longer get any errors.

The phone is recognised.

I will flash after work tomorrow.

Just one more question....

How do I select which file to flash with within the Flashing drop down menu?

dog-man

Assuming phone is detected in pheonix ..

This is I did ...

Flashing -> Firmware update

Ensure radio button for "Phone as Manufactured"

Product code was already populated with "0536062: Euro1"

... Hit start button!

Failing that, click on the "..." button on the RHS of "0536062: Euro1", it will read the list of products from the F/W package you installed.

Then hit start button ... and you should see the screen do the stuff in my earlier post

You're nearly there ....

Would now be the time to mention that the phone seems slower and the keypress bug is back??

(kidding)

😉

Upgraded using Phoenix ( after two nights of trying to make it work!)😡 Phone hasn't changed much except my battery is lasting longer. Also the maps application would not start but I installed Maps V2 beta and its fine now. Very strange.:con?

I'm getting tired waiting for Nokia to update their website, so I'm contemplating Phoenix and the firmware from rapideshare. The thing is, I need Greek language support for text messaging. Can anyone confirm that only the EURO 1 languages are supported (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese)?

Thanks

All done now!

My phone is running V.21 😎

Now to reinstall all settings.

Just to add to the advice / instructions in this thread. You do have to debrand the phone. I had rebranded back to O2 so Phoenix would not work inititially until I debranded again.

Are you saying the phone has to be debranded in order for phoenix to work lol?

If you are then your soooooo wrong!

Yes I am.

When I tried (3 times) to use the O2 product code, it refused to flash.

As soon as I debranded to a Euro 1 code, it flashed first time!

I even tried the auto detect option.

You cannot use the 02 product code because 02 does not have V21 and it's not supported in the generic firmware file!

The firmware file you uploaded is of generic firmware therefor you have to choose one of the generic product codes provided in the list. 😉

If you wanted to keep or use the 02 product code then you would have to install the 02 v21 firmware file in phoenix.

Hmmm, phone has decided to freeze!

I have to remove the battery to power down.

When I power back up, I get the word "NOKIA" then a white screen with all keys lit up and it stays like that.

I am at work at the moment, so not much I can do.

I will try the 3 button reset and if that fails then reinstall the firmware when I get home.

dog-man

3 key reset worked.
I was installing the internet radio app when it froze.
I wonder if it was reinstalling the backup settings file I made before the firmware upgrade that caused it?
The phone has been sluggish all morning.

I would never use backup, you get so many problems, id try a fresh instal and see how that goes, so far my n95 has been fine.

dog-man wrote:I assume reinstalling contacts should be ok?

dog-man

The best way to do contacts is to goto cantacts and mark all then copy to mem card, then drag the contacts folder from mem card to ur pc (the folder is stored in E/others) then when u need to just put the contacts folder back into E/others then goto contact and select copy

AFAIK no update. NSU still says I have the newest fw (v20) and I'm on the Euro1 Plum code.

can anyone check and see if the phone locks up when the wifi connection goes bad....

my phone ALWAYS locks up if i have a wifi connection active and i move too far from the AP or if the power goes out and the AP dies....

it most certainly is, but just going through my phone to see whats i need to back up etc. theres just so much and it seems to be too much of a hassle, is the update really worth it all?

i'm using this as an oppurtunity to de-crapify my phone.

purge all texts, etc. copy all images to pc. sync contacts with zyb. reinstall apps as i miss them...

davecozens, thanks for that, yes that does make sense i guess, but putting that 'decrapfying' aside, is there anything of significance in the update, or is it just over -hyped. there always seems to be too much of excitement around when a newer version of firmware is available

Update now finished and a lot of dross removed from my phone - that's probably why everything seems quicker and snappier. browser seems quicker too - it'll be as quick as an iPhone soon! Only joking!

Maps locked on from a cold start in less than 20secs too - and thats from inside the house! Anyone else found this?

Other than the Flash application, evrything else appears the same. Time will tell.........?
