Has anybody noticed that the icons in Messaging have changed, once you have read a mesasge it does not show an open envelope but a closed envelope.

This is after the latest upgrade to v 20.0.012

I upgraded to v20 yesterday OTA in Indore, India. I had customized phone lock code. After upgrading the firmware the phone lock code does not works. This is a firmware malfunction and have contacted Nokia care. They tried to rectify it by reloading firmware but didnt suceed. My phone is with nokia care and will probably return in 15 days time from there headquarter In Bhopal.

Just to let everyone know, I can confirm its out for APAC users (atleast for the India Product Code). Only via OTA though. NSU didnt find any update. >>>>>>>>>

Your statement is sad fully false... v20.0.12.2 is out for following APAC regions (Cambodia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia). If you are not in this list you are still stuck on v10... (like me grrr)

Still not got the update here - standard UK red 5800 bought on launch day at Regents Street Store in London.

Very, very dissapointed in Nokia, the blue 5800 has already had its update - the red one has another product code it leaves me waiting.......

hey guys i dnt know how many of you are having trbls after the v20.0.12 firmware update but there is
1) bug it wont save ur voice mail box no# no matter how much you try

2) the other thing is that many of u maybe facing error of the search engine tab which is present on the standyby menu the problem is not all that big after ur update if u face this problem jst go to applications and in there u have ur search icon all you have to do is put this icon under ur internet icon and the issues is sollved

3)any .swf file inshort the flash lite files will nw have control keys which is reallly irritating as the other applications like piano and guitar will show you these keys and there are no ways of hidding these keys even for ur screen saver it will give you keys if u install any frm other websites

4) the major dissappointment is that no animated theme is supported on the stand by screen rest on the menu and other places u will get a pop up animated theme window

PLS LET ME KNW MORE ISSUSE HOPE NOKIA TKES SOME CARE AND SOLVES THE PROBLEMS

V20 update not available in uk YET...sad...😞 Why all the fuss if they can't deliver the announced update?

Mine is Indonesian Blue with the same code as yours, I successfully updated by changing the product code to 0559960, anyone looking for a way to change the product code can follow the instruction at symbian-freak, sorry cannot post link since this is my first post

just got my Blue 5800 with Code 0578314 (Germany) back from the Nokia Care Point. They have installed 20.0.0.12 successfully and its great. Like a new phone. Only the cam is still disappointing.

But as NSU nor FOTA still don't have the update go to the care point.

Following this I got bored of waiting and took my phone to a UK care point (carphone warehouse). They started by saying there were no engineers available and I'd have to leave my phone there for a week!! Then another guy said all their stock phones are still on 11.0.009 and there's no way for them to update them (or mine) beyond that due to the RM code of the handset (?).

So Nokia won't make the the upgrade available for my handset (yet - either OTA or manually).
And Nokia can't tell me when they will (although they can keep me waiting on the phone to speak to someone and then give me duff information about care points).

it released, it was buggy, nokia removed it. expect new update by end of feb!

I spoke to Nokia UK today who said that the upgrade is available to all generic 5800s. However it is not available for operator specific handsets as mine is.

I also spoke to Orange & they said that it usually takes them around 14 days to test new firmware & that once its done it will be available via phone updater or OTA.

It really annoys me that operators customise the software - in my opinion there is no need for them to this other than to add their own apps etc.

Then Nokia UK are full of c**p. My handset's not network specific but no upgrade.

For those talking about the message icon bug- It's not in fact a bug, it's the icon system used on some previous s60 handsets - a new unread message shows as a closed envelope- with a red star at the top-right corner, and once read it shows the same but without the star. I'm confused at people's surprise at this, it's even explained in the user manual!

Everything else working fine, there's a HUGE improvement in how smooth java apps run.

i have a sim-free blue 5800 purchased from nokia online store here in the UK. Latest firmware checked on NSU and OTA both say 11.xx.xx.09!! Not managed to get 20.xxxxxx version yet!! I need it badly!!

If you want your Update just go to the next official Nokia Servicepartner and let them do it (for free).
The Servicepartners are able to update your phone, no matter which version you have got.

I was yesterday (Vienna,Austria) at a Servicepartner and gave the phone for A-Cover repair, becouse of light-leaking on the top right side of the front cover.

They are great! They repaird the Cover, installed new Speakers and updated the Firmware.

I tried to update my phone before and it just said "No new update for your phone", after that i checked on the internet that there is not yet an official update for my version but the Servicepartner did it (v 20.0.0.12).

Just got my 5800 (27th Feb). Tried OTA update and using Nokia SW updater (V1.4.85EN) via Nokia PC Suite (V7.1.18.0) Both methods say my phone is up to date (V11.0.009). I'm in the UK.

iPlayer does not have the facility to download programs, just streaming.

Is there a different country location for this update, or does the phone itself limit what Nokia will grant access to?

Hey Guys I have the new firmware 20.0.0.12 on my cell unfortunatly it still hass lots and lots of glitches true geotaging is new and now u can use the secondary cam for taking pic and video but the main cam does not rotate its control anymore it is only avalable in lanscape although the option auto rotate is present in the cam setting. And the cam crashes a lot and gives a black screen and u have to restart again ur phone to make it work
as for the search on the main page it is great but it also has glitches for example if u select a song to play you cannot skip to the nxt song on the list by pressing forward tooo bad nokia did not think of that and to be able to do so u have to use the ordinary galery in the phone
and true the phone is a lotttt faster internet brwssing also is fasterrr. My phone is goung back to nokia dealer to see if he can resolve those glitchesss i got my phone a month ago and if has been at nokia shop more than it is with me trying to solve minor softwear glitchess
one the them guys i could not find any ordinary bluetooth headset to work with this phone each one of them seems to disconect in about 5 sec the only one that worked with my nokia 5800 is one made by ericssonn hahaha the ironyyy of things hehehe any way in conclusion and despite all those glitches I till loves my 5800 but i wish nokia get theire act strait heheheh to the next firware update i think

This is Damian from Malaysia. Before I attempt to update my phone's software which is currently a v11, I would like to know whether or not after the update of the firmware would affect my phone settings. I have my 5800 hacked for convenience of installing apps without certificates bug errors.

It would be most appreciable if all 5800 user could share you views and opinions on this firmware update

I was able to update my nokia 5800 to new version i.e. 20.0.012 in India yesterday night. I did it thru Nokia Software updater which came with the Nokia PC Suite. As already detailed by others, few changes are there - most important being Geotagging enabled.

I installed a couple of applications (Opera Mini and a chess game) and found out that the chess game was really not good. I simply removed it and now the search works.

After I upgraded to v20 firmware, none of the music tracks are playable. They were fine earlier. Now when a song is selected to be played I can see it's name, album art etc but there's no sound. After a couple of seconds, it skips to the next track again with on sound, then on to the next track...

Any fix for this?
