Going online once should also fix the system error problem (in the case of Search anyway).
Nokia 5800 firmware update to v20.0.0.12
No update here for UK Blue 5800 product code 0559346. This is OTA. NSU reports that the phone model is not supported. What's going on???
For those having the lock code issue - try re-flashing the phone using NSU - I did and it correctly reset the lock code to 12345
i updated to the latest version via NSU, update was successful but few things were erroneous, like search internet and my content wasn't working, it gave system error. Dictionary was not available, also the application update was not available.
So i did reset using *#7370# and then everything was fine.
If you face any problem try resetting.
Mine is a red one bought recently from Nokia, no update available yet through Nokia Software Updater or OTA
Not sure is it mentioned yet but now Profiles are able to timeadjust...
i had to do soft reset ( *#7370# ) on the software to make search work without "system error" and to show up new dictionary and other stuff. BUT IT ERASES CONTACTS, MESSEGES, CALENDAR and everything else you put on your phone!
Make update again via NSU.
Reinstall the firmware again.
It takes less than 3 minutes after your firmware is downloaded (125MB - 135MB depending product code).
After that your lock code is 12345 😊 (Still alphabetic mode, but hold # for switch to numeric only mode).
After reboot phone will ask you for correct date and time.
Don't worry about your data and installed apps - lUDP works, so nothing need to be restored or reinstalled .
P.P.
It is always good to make backup! For any case.
P.P.2
Hmmm ... keep in mind that voicemail number is lost (holding 1) ... but it is easy to reenter it, I think 😊

If "System error" appears when Search is used.
Possible resolution try this:
Go to Settings > Application manager > Install files (2nd one) and remove all (Options > Uninstall).
and what should i do, if NSU does not propose to install the firmware again?
greetings... bcb
I got mine the 1st day it came out from regent street too. there is no update for me. seems uk models dnt have it yet
Hi all,
new to this forum thing but some stuff hear helped me so... wat goes around comes around .
Anywho i installed the v20 update and i had a few problems.
1. Asked me for my unlock code, i typed my one in but it would not accept it.
2. The search feature in home menu was giving me an error message when i tried to access it.
3. I didn't have the app.update thing or the dictionary applications.
To resolve (for me anyway!!!)
1. reinstall the update
2. hard reset your phone using *#7370*
What happened.
1. my unlock code reset to 12345
2. all updated stuff listed appeared and works
3. the search feature works.
I hope this helps and works for you guys.

Thanks!
To clarify, the Active Standby still has the same limited number of plugins (Music Player, Search, etc), but with this update, you now have the option to disable ones that you don't want. They haven't added any (that I can remember), but only given us the ability to disable some, which is still just as useless.
Grrr.
I'm still stuck with V 10.0.010.
It's all well and good being able to get phones earlier in Asia but come on!
I had to resort to using Nemesis and tweaking the product code of my N95 8GB last year in order to update - and that doesn't seem possible with the 5800.
Why the wait?!?!😡😡😡😡
I had update my nokia 5800 firmware from 11.0.008 to 20.0.012. Its very nice looking now and i'm able to change my theme not like before in the firmware 11.0.008 you cannot. i have found one more bug. if your phone is lock the alarm wont alarm until you unlock your phone. very upsetting because i miss my meeting.
No update on OTA or NSU for Blue HK Version yet. =(
Still on v10.0.010
hmm.. my Lockcode is alphanumerical.. and it contains a 'z'. In the locking screen it shows after typing the '9'-button three times just '999' which is meant to be some sort of quickdial (even if it is switched to regular letter-typing!). after a short waiting, these 3 numbers switch back to one '*' (is it called asterisk?). so no chance to hit the nine four times!
things are sort of messed up for me, because additionally i have no chance to do the firmware update again, cause there is no option for it in the Softwareupdater.
any advice?
thx =)
(pretty ugly to describe for a not natively speaking english..)
good but still the back light of those four buttons doesnt fade during video playbak
10.Feb 2008: Not yet available in Austria over OTA via Tele.ring network
I got the System Error message when I tried to run Search.... I tried *#7780# but it didn't work...Finally I had to resort to a complete reset using *#7370#...
Moral of the story is always back up your phone before you update it!!
I also have the 0575581 (UK, red) and the best I can get is 11.0.009. 😞 Spoke to the Nokia service line and the guy said I can take it to a Nokia Care Point to get it flashed, or wait a week or so until they make the update available for this version.
I'd guess they're waiting to see if it causes problems for a limited guinea pig group to start with.
I had also the lock code problem. The only solution was to reinstall the update by PC-suite.
After that the lock code was 12345
And if you do not see Dictionary try to uninstal some application (what ever).
This should help.

how did you manage to re-install? my pc just never detects the phone it keeps saying switch it on and connect, but i cant switch it on cuz it asks for lock code when i switch it on!

I just got my phone here in The Netherlands and the first thing I did was to update OTA and got v20 like everyone else. However, I seem to be missing some apps. I have no dictionary, the search on the home screen gives an error, there is no app. update - is there anything I can do? Tried a 'soft reset', no joy...

Did you try to uninstall some application (what ever you like). This has helped.

Mine did not ask for the lock code when swiching on. It just did'n let me change it befor reupdate.
What about factory reset: At power on press Red key+ Green key + Camera Key until hands thing.
Note: Factory reset will delete everything and backup resetore migth not work.
Have a 5800 red preordered from the Nokia UK shop (arrived late Jan), using a 3 sim.
I'm stuck on the V10 firmware 😞 OTA updates say no updates available and NSU says my phone is not supported, even after a complete NSU reinstall. Anyone else got this issue?
Things that were not fixed in 20.0.012, and that I hope will be in the next fw version:
1) Landscape mode for Maps. With the (useless, at least on S60 5th ed.) search field gone, gone is also the main objection to a landscape mode ("if they allowed a landscape mode, the search input field at the bottom would stretch the entire landscape with, wasting a lot of space"😉.
2) Fixing the remote control AD-54 behaviour in Music. On my N82, pressing the play button on the AD-54 (which is compatible with the N82, although it doesn't ship with it) when Music is not running, starts it; on the 5800, it does nothing. Also, on the N82, pressing the play button when Music is running in the foreground with a screen other than the "Now playing" one, starts/resumes the song of your current playlist; on the 5800, it resets your current playlist and starts playing the first (in alphabetical order) song of your collection.
3) Internet f***ing Radio, already! I cannot believe this app is unavailable for a phone marketed as a musicphone.
4) The missing API that prevents Mobbler from scrobbling your music.
5) In Web, restore the ability to save web pages for offline browsing.
6) Also in Web, a larger font in Feeds for item summaries. Currently, one really needs a magnifying glass to read them.
7) It would be nice if Ovi Sync acknowledged the existence of this handset.
8) N-Gage. Nokia, understand that porting N-Gage games from 3rd to 5th ed. is not trivial, and you cannot expect developers to go through that expense unless you entice them with a pool of 1M+ potential customers (the 5800 owners). If you don't release N-Gage for the 5800 now, expect N-Gage for the N97 to be ghost town when it comes out.
9) Sports Tracker, Steps Counter, Wellness Diary for S60 5th ed. Nokia, I'm getting fat and it's all your fault.
I have a Singapore (bought at the airport) Red 5800XM and haven't been able to update to even the 11x release.
My product code is: 0575407.
Pretty frustrated at this point.
Any suggestions as to what product code I should use NSS to change my phone to so that it can be upgraded?
TIA
