What's the longest imaginable time to get the update out to every product code in circulation? Damian?
My code: 0587840 (BTW, how does that map onto EURO1,2,3 etc?)
You'll be lucky to get a reply from DamianD these days. He's long gone! 😞

Now I have my 2nd N86 from Amazon. It's a free phone, no branding and a newer model coz of the new camera design. Now I have still v11 on it and can't upgrade. My old one from June got the v20 update on the first day it was released.
Hmmmm....You have a good point....
If I choose messages to be saved in Memory card/Mass storage, for some unknown reason sometimes (or better put after some time) they are reverted to C drive (phone memory) , error: Unable to access selected memory. Messages will be stored to phone memory
This was present in V11 and it's still here. Have no idea why this happens from time to time :con?

Can anyone please explain me this: I go inside contacts, then exit (no more orb on Contacts), it shows no applications activity (second slide), however JbakTaskman shows it's still resident (2 files!) so I need to manually close apps. Same goes for call Log entry.

Any idea?
Cheers,
Miki

Was your phone connected to a computer in the mass storage mode when that happened? D and E drives are inaccessible in that mode...

I already mentioned this, some applications remained open after closing with the old firmware too, but second "contacts" and new "chat" applications appeared with the new firmware (because of ovi chat)

Hmmm, good point. My phone was not connected when that happen, however it could be it was connected prior to this, so settings were automatically reverted to C drive. Thanks,

Miki
Yesterday i changed my code, because Nokia did not want to help me with blurry pictures, getting stuck sometimes, slow browser.
I went to the NCC to change the code, no chance they werent able to update. 3 hours driving and waiting for nothing.
So i did it by myself. And the winner is....?
Faster browser, everything feels smooth and fast, all my programs are working still fine (profimail, Navigon MN7, the telephonebook), and the facedetection works fine.
Good work Damian, and i did what you told me, *#7370# before and after the update. And then a clean installation. Worked perfect.
Thank you

Hmm this is not less lens flare with the new camera disign, looks really bad.
Remember my N86 camera look slike this:

And Damian said that this is a new design to reduce lens flare.
But could be coincidence, the first of the 2 photos I made looked better in terms of lens flare:

And finally here is a photo with my old N86 with the old camera design.

For operator variants you sometimes have to wait much longer. And occasionally product codes do seem to be forgotten. I think this happens because someone forgets to tick a box somewhere. I recall this happening for blue versus red 5800's early in the year...
So I guess I should suspect that my phone's product code has been forgotten? It's unbranded, bought less than a week ago, Danish, coded 0587840 and still stuck on 10.086 - two months after the release of 20.115! (I can't even get 11.043)
[Edit: I hadn't realized when writing the above how recent the latest 'v20-not-available' reports were]
Anybody here with a connection to the person who ticks boxes?

You can see the yellow crap of the incandescent light bulbs for the Satio taken by that Mongoloid. The Satio looks bad there. I don't think any of those pictures had flash enabled. I read somewhere that someone said the Satio was going to be discontinued by SE. I don't know if it's true.

I use JbakTaskMan and close the apps with the clear key. It’s faster that way than holding the MENU key or manually closing it in the app. I don’t know why JbakTaskman states 120MB of RAM. I also get two separate processes with contacts even after exiting it. If you go to the contacts app with the puzzle piece, it just shows a white screen. When I go to the Logs app and close it, JbakTaskman shows one process for me.
By the way, your app icons look different than mine. Are you using a theme or is it because of the different product code?
I'll stay with v 11 till
The N87 is out 😊 Accourding to this source: 12MP, 600 MHz, 3,2 inch Touchscreen... :icon14:
Seems to be a fake...
S60 v3 resolution is 240x320 and S60 v5 is 640x360.
So, with 800x480, what kind of OS can it be ? Maemo ?

Hope they can hear you: Maemo :icon14:
Btw there is no much space for Maemo devices, Nokia wants to introduce only one devise 2010 :frown:
For such a compact sensor, is 12.1MP even needed? It's no DSLR. By the way, it's another dual slider.

N900 runs at 800x480 which is 5:3.

14mins and 20secs in a quesion is asked regarding new firmware update for the N86. The answer given (although it's not set in stone) is that 2 updates are on the horizon. One at the end of this year possibly around or after Xmas and then one next Spring 2010!
Finally we can (hopefully!) expect something before the year is out. Thank you!!!

Finally new FW will soon available for n86 again.
Cant wait for it 😃
Even if it is not confirmed, it seems that the n86 will have some attention from Nokia until next summer, which is cool. By the way, my compass finally works since the last update of ovi maps, yeah ^_^
i still dont even have the ver.20 update and there is already talk of new updates coming😞
when will the german variant be released??

According to Steve Litchfield, v20 might never become available to all n86 handsets. Instead, he muses, we will go straight to the next version and never get a chance to experience all the lovely bugs in v20.

I owned a N86 with v20 and the night photos were not as good as my current N86 with v11. Next time I'll look closer to such "image improvements" instead of updateing imedeately. 😎
I think v11 improved the image quality to the maximum for this device.
Come on the lovely Damian Dinning, where are you??? Please confirm that we will receive new fw update before the year is out. A simple yes or no will suffice! 😊

Damian? I hope he works on the N87 :icon14: 😃

really? then in that case im not as upset about the lack of new FW for my phone, though i hope this doesnt repeat itself in the future and nokia gives out the "bug free" update to everyone!
French carriers will start selling the N86 this month, and I don't see them seeling it with the V20 firmware. So if they don't sell it with V11 maybe the V21 will be a very good update, with less obvious bugs. Fingers crossed 😊
Damian Dinning please make yourself known regarding new N86 firmware! It's almost Xmas, be nice! 😊 Give us all N86 owners a lovely treat! 😊
A new update is available on SW Update (OTA) - Python fo S60 2.0. Any idea what it does ? It says that the update is Optional.
Nothing to do with firmware updates. It's only an update for the python runtime libraries, needed by some proggies written in the python language.😉
Hi! I read this whole topic, and then searched a little bit, and it looks that within very few days, v21 will be available. i hope so, because I don't have my N86 yet, but I will in a nearby future, and I would like to not have all these annoying bugs...
