According to a report on Gamesindustry.biz, Nokia has now confirmed it will sponsor the Leipzig GCDC game development conference for the third year in a row. Nokia will give a keynote speech, games for the upcoming next gen N-Gage platform will be on show, and there will be N95 phones up for grabs (although as yet no particular phones have actually been confirmed as platform-compatible).
Sony Ericsson today announced the MBW-150 Bluetooth Watch which it has developed in association with Fossil. The watch comes in three different versions, Classic, Music and Executive. The watch will alert you (with a vibrate function) to incoming calls and SMS, and allow basic all handling. The watch can also be used to control music playback on Walkman phones.
The Bluetooth SIG and Nokia yesterday announced that Wibree, the ultra low power wireless technology developed by Nokia, would be merged into the Bluetooth specification as Ultra Low Power Bluetooth. The first devices using the technology are expected on the market in 2008.
UIQ Technology announced the addition of Esmertec, Penrillian and Scalado to its UIQ Alliance program. The UIQ Alliance program provides pre-approved and pre-integrated services and programs to potential UIQ licensees enabling UIQ Technology to offer a more complete platform offering.
The story so far... Ewan's got himself a Nokia N95 and, while at Global Messaging 2007, heard the N95 denounced for having the grand total of 18 physical keys or buttons. After all, if the iPhone's only going to need one.... It turns out that Ewan thinks the aforementioned buttons are actually quite useful...

As predicted last week on AAS, the long-awaited Nokia E90 has finally launched on the 12th/13th of June. The first Nokia E90s have been spotted in stock in various Finnish retailers including the electrical chain Gigantti and the online store Verkkokauppa. Nokia phones often appear in Finland first for obvious reasons, but the E90 should be available sim-free across Europe very soon if not right now. Network Operator locked versions may take some more time to appear however as the operators tend to alter the firmware before releasing a phone. The availability in non-European regions is still unclear.
The split between Nokia's Nseries and Eseries worlds keeps getting that little bit wider, with the release of an Eseries version of PC Suite, following the Nseries version released earlier this week. Presumably the door is now open for specific N or Eseries features to be grafted in.... (Via Darla)
