R1B? Wow... When are you planning to ever have your phone upgraded? 😃
I'm sure (well, actually, I hope) that they can fix the problem in the next firmware upgrade... Muzikfreakah is also encountering the same. Phone just hangs... :-?
Hehe, never. Well, unless there's a major upgrade coming I won't bother. My phone is working perfectly now, so I don't see any reason for upgrading. 😃
"If it aint broke, don't fix it!" 😉
How is Muzikfreakah doing btw? Haven't seen him around for a while now..
Tell him Raven from AAS says hi. 😊
Now, you've made me realize the advantage of not having your software upgraded! hahaha! That Yellow Triangle only visits you seldom!
Muzikfreakah is doing great! He's now a "consultant" of the P800 here in the Phils... hehehe! People go to him to ask questions about the P800. I'll tell him you said Hi... He's just been very busy with his business 😊
Hi,
After upgrading my firmware to R2F, I realized that my Calendar preferences are reset each time the phone is turned off and on. Anyone else facing the same problem?
sorry for my stupid question! just got my p800 4 days ago, my question is how to check my firmware? and is it better to upgrade the fone?
Go to Applications, click View and System Information...
here's mine
Phone: R1D
Bluetooth: R2C
Organiser: R1F01
CDA: R1F04
what do you think guys? should i get a upgrade?
Only if you want the extra features offered by R2D (Delivery notes on SMS, night mode for the camera and full-screen vid).
I have the same firmware and find it to be fantastically stable. I'm not going to risk losing that until a firmware comes along with something I REALLY want.
I don't know what all your guys are talking about (guess I'm just lucky). I never had (more) yellow triangle since I updated (about once a month), I have R2D. Besides I like the new features. My advice: Go and get that upgrade :P
So then just (one)! :fadein: thing...
What is the latest Firmware for the p800 as of 28 july 2003
i have R1d and am wondering how many FW updates there have been since R1d and what are the Changes since then
Thanx :black:
yay! since my phone came from the devkit it was loaded with the prehistoric R1A firmware (everyone at the place was wowed by that) 20 minutes later and i'm running R2D with bluetooth R5A..i can finally install apps now! (i hope anyways, haven't got home to plug it in) i still can't use my gprs connection for some reason=/ did the wap configurator but no luck. here's to hoping it'll just sort of pop on =]
Since I didn't see any USA codes, here's what I received in the box.
Phone CXC162002 R2D
Bluetooth CXC12529 R5A
Organizer CXC162001 R2A16
CDA CDA162001/5 R3A12
I get the Yellow Triangle at least once a week. I'm developing using MobileVB from Appforge and I'm wondering if that may be affecting operation.
I did see an R2F in the posts - is it available in USA? Does the upgrade need to be done at a service center? Anyone know where one is in the USA, maybe in Tampa??
Also, anyone know about USA language, I've got UK out of the box.
How can I increase the Alarm Volume ?
how does this fit in with the threads topic?
I've done the upgrade in Portugal a 28/7/2003 and this is what i have now:
Telefone (phone): R2F
Bluetooth: R5A
Agenda (organizer): R2B03
CDA: R1J01
It seems that the verson of the phone is good but not the CDA!
The diference from the previous firmware have already been written: Sms report, wide pictures, the access to install the beta camcorder software (4 long months of waiting...). I DEFINITLY RECOMEND.

That's because you probably did a restore! Than the CDA-file will be "restored" as well, and you'll get the older version. I have that too. But it doesn't matter, since no one knows what the CDA actually does 😃
Just got my p800 firmware upgraded by Intec in High Barnet, London
Phone: R2F
Bluetooth: R5A
Organizer: R2A16
CDA: R3A12
How long did it take at Intec Mr Page???
Might pop up there on Saturday if I get the chance...... been trying to go and get an upgrade from R1D for about 3 months now!!!
okay dudes, i posted my firmware here a while ago,
"Phone CXC162002 R2D
Bluetooth CXC12529 R5A
Organiser CXC162001 R2A16
CDA CDA162001/5 R3A12"
and now when i check my system info, the CDA version is missing,
ok, so who's up for sending their text document off their phone for it
(i was told it could be done as long as they have the same version)
The CDA is the customization file on your phone. It contains data such as languages, logos, pictures, and sounds...
The cda.txt file just states what version of CDA was installed on the phone.
Restoring your P800 after a firmware upgrade will bring back some old system files. The cda.txt file is affected, but so are quite a few others. If you open up your backup with a zip program such as winzip, you will see a lot of system files. I would recommend against restoring after a firmware upgrade if you want a more stable phone.
Firmware version corresponds with the Organizer version. As you will see, there was never a firmware package called R1D or R2D. There were quite a few firmware packages containing R1D phone and R2D phone. The phone firmware part of the phone is pretty stable and may change the least. I believe the list looks something like:
R1A
?
R1B
- Phone R1A
- Bluetooth R2C
R1C
- Phone R1B
- Bluetooth R2C
- Bug Fixes and/or improvements
R1F
- Phone R1D
- Bluetooth R2C
* Important audio bugfix for bluetooth headsets
- Bug Fixes and/or improvements
R1G
- Phone R1D
- Bluetooth R2C
- Bug Fixes and or improvements
* Phone would shut of and not load back up after all internal memory was used up. This was fixed.
- First Firmware included with US Phones.
R2A
- Phone R2D
- Bluetooth R5A
- User Enhancements
* MP3 player in phone mode
* Ability to select multiple files
* Full screen pictures
* Full screen video
* Ability to zoom into pictures with higher resolution and move them around
* New screen saver
* Camera Mute
* Camera Night Mode
- Bug Fixes and improvements
R2B
- Phone R2D for North America
- Phone R2F elsewhere
- Bluetooth R5A

so i guess a firmware upgrade it is then, but it's a bit pointless going frm r2d to f so i'll wait for a newer one,
as for the backup and restore, the pc suite doens't work on my pc anyway, though i have a folder with everything currently changed on my p800 so it's okay. thanks for your help
and that one informative list in the post above this one
Just did mine today, took it to carphone warehouse on briggate in leeds. Took it in at 4.15, had odd service as the guy serving me just walked off half way through and someone else came back a few minutes later to finish it. told me to come back around 6.45. Me and my girl went to pizza hut for something to eat. (luckily the pizza was delayed so got 25% off and took longer to get back to the cpw) Went back at 5.30 and it was ready. Had camcorder beta .sis file on my duo to try first, works well. So far no probs, restoring now. 😃 😃

oooh, looks like a you picked up a bug though...
your PC is now posting messages twice 😃
It takes a minimum of 24 hours. They also have a 4 day mailing service, which I think is what I would do if I were to upgrade my firmware again...

Nah can't last more than a few hours without my phone, especially at weekends!!!!
Do the Orange shops do the upgrade yet in London?
Someone mentioned that the Vodafone Store in central London did it for them......surely Orange can start offering it too?
I've done the upgrade in Hungary a 05/8/2003 and this is what i have now:
Telefone (phone): R2F
Bluetooth: R5A
Organizer: R2B03
CDA: R4A02
It seems that the version of the phone is good and the CDA also!
The diference from the previous firmware have already been written:
- I could choose Hungarian language too
- Phone preferences also available in Control Panel
- no Sms report - I looked for but not find 😮
- wide screen in Pictures
in Video rtsp:// - do you know, how to use it?
rickpaul...so i guess theres no further upgrades at the moment for my phone being in north america with the R2D and R2F elsewhere....
