- no Sms report - I looked for but not find 😮[/quote]
When writing an SMS, at the bottom you will see a tab with the figure of a man with the "@" sign .. click on that then choose Delivery Report: On. Unfortunately, you will have to do this manually for every SMS you write, there's no automatic option 😞

With your help I've managed to find this feature. 😃

I thought guest-posting was disabled....
Ah, it doesn't matter. This is a nice guest, who appreciates the rules and the meaning of this forum (helping each-other) 😃
Just noticed something else with the newer firmware, before if i was sent something over bluetooth with the flip closed it would only allow one beamed message at a time, others would fail to send from the other device, i would have to open the flip and view the message before any more could be sent, now on R2 i can recieve as many as i want without opening the flip! 😃 😃
So I wouldn't have to give up my phone for 4 days in order for it to get upgraded from the original firmware (December 2002) in the USA, I waited till I went to Sweden for a trip.
It seems that in Stockholm everyone now charges for quick service turn-arounds. All of GEAB's service centers were offline for today, so I went the slightly more expensive route. I went to Service strm AB, where they would upgrade my P800 for free if I wanted to wait a week, or 300kr (about $35US) if I wanted it back in 2 hours. I opted for express route, since I would not be here next week. It ends up that I had to wait till the next morning anyways, since they won't upgrade phones without a full battery charge.
Here is what I got on my phone now:
Telefon: R2F
Bluetooth: R5A
Organiser: R2D02
CDA: R5A02
I decided not to do a restore afterwards, and just resync my contacts and manually put things back on as need be. The phone has collected too much cruft as is. I'm hoping I will no longer have to reboot my phone 6 times to get a stable GPRS connection in certain areas of the US, and that Bluetooth automatic mode now works. Here's to hoping!
Anyone in Chicago knows where to get an upgrade?
Here in the philippines the latest fw for nokia 3560 is 3.16 the service is free if you want to upgrade that is if you have bought it from licensed distributor (Semicon and BrightPoint) but will cost you P500 if you bought it somewhere else. Not only that, they will ask you to sign a waiver if during the upgrade if your phone will render useless in other words (DAMAGED), they have mothing to do with it.
I've had my firmware upgraded to R2F. Didn't really need to, but was told that bluetooth support amongst other thigns were better so took the trip to the service centre that upgraded my T68 when I had that.
The guy in the shop told me it would take about 3 hours, crap I told him! He'd done a friends phone the weekend before in 1.5 hours! 2 hours later I collected my phone which works perfectly.
Anyone in the north of England, I would advise you to travel to Link Telecom in Keighly (spelling!), near Halifax/Bradford. I've seen at least 4 phones upgraded there, no problems all for free obviously.
GREAT!
Ian
ive been recommended that link telecom too, i think they are listed as offcial SE service centre.
Where can I get a list of SE service centres in the UK? I've tried searching all over the SonyEricsson website without much success.
I'm in the South West of the UK - I know Carphone Warehouse in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol is an authorised centre, but ideally I'd like to find one a bit closer to me (Trowbridge area)
Any help gratefully received.
If you give them a ring on 08708990000 they will find the closest by postcode 😃
As most of you in Singapore already know,
there is a new sony p800 with the chinese text available.
Just want to know if the SE service centers will have firmware upgrade for it??
Thanks..
Just had my P800 upgraded by Reading's Carphone Warehouse for free, bless 'em at their suggestion !
New settings:
Phone: CXC162002 R2F
Bluephone: CXC12529 R5A
Organiser: CXC162001 R2D02
CDA: CDA162001/5 R5A02
A new wizard came up on initial startup to set time & date, which was nice. And the already mentioned additions (full screen video) were there. What was new that I haven't heard mention is the fullscreen display in "internet" & Opera 6.2.. very nice!.
Also theres a new icon that comes up during a GPRS session, a phone with a red cross, showing you can't receive phone calls during the session I presume?
i've got R2D02 and sure the internal browser has full screen but this came in other firmware updates no? also surely When u got your phone firmware updated it didnt give you the new version of opera? you would have to install that seperatly or am i missing something? and dont know what you mean about the GPRS thing i use GPRS a hell of a lot and am not sure what your on about, i stand corrected if i am wrong though
thanx
I've had all mentioned features on my P800 which has
Pnone: R2D
Bluetooth: R5A
Organiser: RsA16
and still didn't update it yet, so anybody think there r more few features available if I update?
and for the CDA, I used to have a version # for that but it's gone now, I think that happened after I formated the internal memory! anyone knows how to get it back?
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how much Carphonewarehouse charge for a P800 firmware upgrade as I didn't buy my phone from them etc
I'm hoping to go down to the Oxford Street service centre this afternoon .
(SE said if I send it in they would do it for free but its approx. 2 week turnaround)
regards,
Ammar
edit: correcting spelling
woot ! thanks for the reply, I'm off soon
hopefully no more dreaded red triangle ! 😊
still wondering if I need to upgrade from R2D to R2F.. is it worth it?
well, I know I will, but I just wana know what's the new features available with this upgrade, cuz I bought my device from THE LINK, and I'm now outside UK, and the'll charge me $30 for upgrading, so if there rn't any big changes, I'd rather buy more softwares for my P800 instead 😛
Just noticed something else, if u click the jogdial in while viewing a web page it does a funny diagonal scroll 😊
have just tried it in Internet and Opera, nothing happened!!
does it need the latest firmware to work?
just in case anyone was wondering if its worth upgrading the firmware - the first thing I noticed was the general increase in the speed of the user interface.
regards
Ammar.
thanks ammar, but how did u mesure the speed? and did u have the same softwares and settings available before and after upgrading? cuz that might affect the speed 😊
have just tried it in Internet and Opera, nothing happened!!
I think it does only work on the newer firmware. Never noticed it when i had R1 😊
